My God enough if enough.... no I don't want to go to dollar Dave's thrift shopping store. No I don't want a 3-7 round investment no no no. Enough of this getting pushed around the guard play is atrocious not to even get into Daley. This is embarrassing and soul crushing. Stop it the end.

I look at the runs and his skills in that aspect dont look to have diminished at all. He looks as dangerous with the ball in his hands as he did in 2015 to me. Thats the point I have tried to make he looks the same as a runner. I sure his arm isnt 2011 Cam before the Injury but, I dont think we are seeing a player who is regressing due to age at all. It might not be fair to expect MVP caliber Cam but something not to much lower due to I'm assuming so fine QB coaching in New England his isnt sailing near as many passes as we saw over the years. I dont remember seeing him sail any so far.

The don't expect 2015 Cam argument
micnificent28 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Depends on how the team is built. You would be hard pressed to put up 21 on say the ravens of the Ray Lewis ed reed era or even when Luke, davis so on Panthers of 15. We are a Defensive built team we put most of our picks the last few years into the defense designed to not let teams score over 21. If they do its easy to see a loss we werent built to shoot out with Mahomes or even the Falcons at their peak. The opposite we are the counter punch. That isnt to say oh cam cant win games where hes 12-12 when they score 21 we werent made to do that. Not to mention wins and losses arent a qb stat. you could score 43 and the defense gives up 45 is that cams fault? 53 people on a team and defense has to do their part. -
The don't expect 2015 Cam argument
micnificent28 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bro, he stiff arms the db first the towards the end Simmons comes off his block and attempts to make the tackle meaning he put himself in harms way and yes cam trampled him over for the touchdown. It's not much clearer than that. Not sure your definition of running someone over has to be completely squared up as per the rules of engagement. And then you joined in January and are questioning My knowledge of the game based on your own idea of what running someone over is lol. -

The don't expect 2015 Cam argument

I mean looking at him run over guys in Arizona, and last week at Washington I honestly don't see a drop off in his running ability at all. Not trying to disagree but he was breaking tackles and goalline running as well as ever. His rushing totals in his first full game are in line with his normal healthy averages. -

The shoulder is a fair argument. But his physique is a personal health choice. That was done to improve and extend his career. Being 245 instead of 260 isn't a huge negative. -

What's different? -
I know it's not 2015.. I know Cam is 32 and the popular opinion is his skills have diminished. But look at the previous two weeks his legs look as alive as ever putting up near the dame rushing averages and his arm maybe not peak cam due to injuries..but he looks more accurate. Just not seeing the popular...he's not the same guy mantra.

On a brighter note..on a sadder note they were without young and Sweat....

Really, what does Derrick Brown do?
micnificent28 replied to FuFuLamePoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was dead set against the pick. He's a one dimensional player who really isn't even thay goo at stopping the run. Maybe it's our scheme? But basically he's a 3-4 tackle and he's not good at it. Top 10 picks at tackle have to generate a pash rush to validate the pick. We could have gotten a space eater layer if we just wanted a slab to hold the middle. A guy like al woods comes to mind. I was a Simmons guy we give or take has been average to above I stand by the pick. -
Steve Smith breaks down Curtis Samuel…
micnificent28 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Curtis Samuel the player is a fine player. I would even make make case I would rather have him than Robby Anderson because he's the bigger threat with the ball in his hands. I have seen him make contested catches run route and separate and ankle breaking yah yardage. All while growing into a wr. He plays out the back field and probably one of the more versatile players we had. When cmc went down he instead of moore would have been coming out the backfield. That said his injury history has been unsatisfactory. He has barely played which is concerning. But nobody really could say he would miss this much time because we haven't seen it this bad. Tough break for Washington. Not sure they overpaid on the talent but for the production most definitely not worth it. -
A forgotten boon in the Cam Newton acquisition

Depends on which one... thats the first one but that hit he took from TJ Watt in the Pittsburgh game definitely messed somethings up that season. So accurate. -
A forgotten boon in the Cam Newton acquisition
micnificent28 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
You do know that isn't how he got hurt right? It was standing in the pocket behind this line thats already bad. He's never had much issue protecting himself when running. Also no one is saying so it every 4th down but make them think about it and respect it. -
A forgotten boon in the Cam Newton acquisition
micnificent28 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the opposite is true. Because his days as a true franchise number 1 are over new England used him as strictly a bull dozier and didn't care about him getting banged up last year. -
A forgotten boon in the Cam Newton acquisition
micnificent28 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Our line has always been bad. Cam masked those deficiency for years even that super bowl year... -
Hidden in all the hype and bells and whistles, I dont think enough attention is put on how this could also help our dreaded short yardage 4th and 1 short comings. We never realized it was a problem until he wasn't on the team anymore. During his tenure we had one of the highest 4th and short conversion ratios in the league. I think it will be nice not to have to hold my breath on 4th and short hoping brady calls a tightend reverse or something cute for us to get a yard.

CAM NEWTON IS NOT THE ANSWER. THIS IS A MISTAKE.
micnificent28 replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Define the answer? Qb1 for the next 10 years? Probably not... can he be for the next 2-3 years to get us out if this no draft picks saga. Sure. -
Same thing it ment for kapernick..the best players available isn't the one that always gets the call. Lot of moving parts going on we aren't privey 2.

Is this the best panthers secondary ever?
micnificent28 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Even factoring all that in giving up points is a team statistic.. that has to do with stopping the run rushing the passer and secondary. I'm just trying to debate I guess on the talent perspective. Talent wise I don't think we Hve ever fielded what 3-4 guys drafted first round(Jackson second). On paper these guys have the chops to run with anybody. -

micnificent28 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well matching that Gilmore= corner that won 2019 defensive player of the year AJ bouye= former pro bowler(that's great right?) Jackson( he's a number 1/2 at worst gonna get paid) Horn( looks the part could be as good as anyone on this list) Henderson( top 10 pick last year atleast gotta be serviceable) Taylor (has been showing up a lot I'm impressed making splash plays) Chinn ( Chinn is just a good player haven't seen any if many mistakes) Burris/Franklin/ Hartsfield( guys show up every now and then but get hurt I think they are better than what we had during Ron era) -
Is this the best panthers secondary ever?
micnificent28 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was going for a by talent measurement not the actual weekly rankings which could change for various reasons, injuries pass rush and so on. But on paper the depth at corner is night and day as to what it use to be or even at the start of the season. A weakness turning to a strength.
