  1. Agreed. I am not advocating for trading down to 28 at all. I just ment in a decent situation.
  2. I can agree with most of what you said. But this is business. In doing business you can't take personal feelings into account no matter how you "feel" about them. I do think you try to screw them and the price for rivals is probably higher although, you have to take into account this is a completely new regime. Tepper, Rhule, and scott fitterer for that matter weren't around for any of that stuff you mentioned. We as fans want to make our staffs hatred and pride the same as our own but these guys aren't fans and are professionals. I would hate to miss out on a haul like say what the 49ers gave up to get to 3 because it's the Saints bucs or falcons. If what they want to trade up for isn't what I want and the price is good I don't mind trading at all.
  3. Agree with this. I just can't get with the notion of not listening at all to their offer because they are the saints or any divisions rival. I think you atleast see what they are talking about if nothing more than to get some idea of what they are thinking draft night.
  4. Wouldn't say that. You listen to all offers. No prospect is a surefire thing so if they offer enough and want to take a swing I'm all for it. I'm sure we atleast called Atlanta about number 4 as well.
  5. The whole "mortgaging the future" tag might lean a bit to the extreme. The cost of a second round pick vs a potential franchise qb sounds pretty cheap. Yes I know we passed on fields and Mac jones just like every one in the league including the ravens on Lamar Jackson. I don't think darnold will look bad enough to sink the franchise or on the other end push us into the playoffs so the results will probably be middling for a while.
  6. All these sources but the teams actions say otherwise. I can believe the Lance part but Mond in the second???
  7. But gained a starting qb who would have went second this year in the draft.
  8. People have an opinion about everything. You say your sick I'm sure your mom ar one point in time tried to diagnose you like she was a doctor.
  9. Thats like saying it's OK to ignore byu players... what you would ignore Zac wilson... or ignore north Dakota state players... you ignore trey Lance? Josh Allen? Again.. just because a player went to a school has absolutely nothing to do with ability to play the game.
  10. You draft traits and players not Helmets.
  11. I like the emphasis on athletes. Not sure they are guys I would have picked when they did but I like the idea.
  12. Or whoever this guy is we took from Washington.
  13. Few guys I would like here Hamsah Nasirildeen and Marvin Wilson.
  14. Agree with this. This a low risk high reward pick. Not mad at all.
  15. I think Humphrey is right there. Has some freakish numbers put up if you need a center. Not sure we are solid on the over paid turnstile we have there.
  16. Slater is the only player I cant really get behind. I think hes overrated off one game vs Chase Young. I just cant get behind him. short arms better guard... not the kind of guy I can vouch for when we talking pitts sewell, fields, and Chase....
  17. I don't think he's any worse than any other talking head scout. Or professional for that matter, scouting isn't an exact science, anything can happen. players can bust for any apparent reason. Doesn't mean your evaluation was wrong, just means they didn't develop or the situation they were in didn't allow them to reach their potential. That said Kiper made me a fan of the draft. Seeing him in late December early February became synonymous with the draft like pollen in spring or fresh cut grass in football season. He's about as must see TV for the draft as anyone else. Good takes or bad ones. You can tell he's passionate about, I love seeing him get heated over Todd mcshays rankings on guys he's lower on than Mel is. Todd Todd,Todd,Todd is a modern classic. But I look at the two like Mcshay is the more analytical modern day scout whom if I had to bet my money on being accurate it's probably him. Mel's the old school I just got a gut feeling about this kid kind of scout. I enjoy seeing them together.
  18. I have this same argument with the huddle every off-season. Mel Kiper deserves a gold jacket. Not only did he make the draft popular, he made watching it and scouting it accessible to the casual fan. He was doing books and takes before most of us knew what it was. It's so cliché to say oh he sucks he missed on Clausen so on. Most people did. He wasn't the only one. Clausen was lauded as a highly recruited number recruit coming out of high school. A 5 star player who showed up to note dame in a hummer limo. He set all kinds of records coming out and had plenty of tools. Missing on Clausen is like missing on Todd marrivich, Ryan leaf, or JaMarcus Russell. These guys have all kinds of talent but for whatever reason fail. Prospects can fail for whatever mental reasons drugs, team situations( David Carr), or injury. Hell Cam Newton was a generational talent and look what we did to him. Wasted his prime and let him get beat into the ground like an old buick. People love to remember your failures and what you got wrong but never what you got right. No one brings up how he nailed Josh Allen and had him well above most and his number 1 qb most of the year. But they will fawn over Mike Mayock. Look what he has done with the Raiders..you guys cried for clelin ferrell because he said he was good and when he selected him with the number 4 pick over Burns look how that turned out. Mock drafts are just for fun sorta like filling out a ncaa March madness bracket. Nobody gets them right. But you know why we mock draft? Mel Kiper.. he deserves a lot more respect than he gets.
  19. I mean I dont know about going back to 19. People think all players are the same caliber. you could bust much easier on the back end of the first than at the top. players at the to have displayed rare tools and have less holes in there game. the difference between say brian burns and a celin farrell(yes he went higher and i hated it then) whom the huddle was crazy about. The lowest I would drop is to around where Patrick surtain and Horn are projected to go. I would much rather have a top tackle or weapon for Darnold, but a potential number 1 CB isnt bad either. After that you start risking busts guys with holes in there game like Little...Great tools but red flags already showing.
  20. Im open to trading back on two conditions.... Pitts isnt there or Sewell... everyone else i would take the deal. Remember this is a rare class at the top. the only reason we even discussing Pitts and Sewell and players like chase so on this low is because there is such a heavy qb class at the top. you wont have a chance at this caliber players very often if your not picking top 5.
  21. Likely??? I think it means they would like to. But it seems if someone wants to trade up for a qb it would be before us at 7 to call our bluff.
  22. he's one of the few... if the only. most are iffy on slater top 10.
  23. no one wants bpa at this point the huddle is all in on tackle
  24. It is a luxury but only in the short term off what you just suggested. If we are losing one for sure next year you reset the clock. It's not like we don't have options at LT, Erving, little, daily and mov we moton to a degree. We could get a good LT in the second. My point is if the grades are close you go with the BPA. I DONT think slater and chase are that close. Not that I want chase.. Pitts or sewell are my 1a 1b. After that then I consider chase. Just don't see slater as a hof talent.
