Draft prospects other than QB
micnificent28 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I can't see this team going anywhere but QB. It just isnt possible. with darnold off the books and baker gone... who do you have? PJ? Corral? I know its fun to think about these other guys but come on... -
If we aren't picking at the top to get one of the top 2 choices i gamble on upside. Richardson has more talent than any of these guys but it needs to be refined. I let him bench all year and see what he looks like next year if he can be had say end of round 1 or round 2.

This is all the reason in the world I need... this is hilarious

Who should we be looking at outside the "top 4" QB candidates?
micnificent28 replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
agreed... I don't think having Corral should negate or influence Travis as a potential selection. Even if we took say stroud in round 1. Travis as a backup taken in say the 6-7 isnt a bad idea. I think after this season we wipe the qb locker room clean.. Having 3 qbs compete for the spot of back and starter isnt a bad idea. -

Im fine with stroud..but i wouldnt connect corral to Travis. my problem with Corral isnt his size.He just hasnt flashed any reason for me to have any faith in him. shoyld be be released? absoutely not. but we would be foolish to guarantee him anything. -

you corral truthers are killing me... -
All the fans that want to tank, you guys are all in on Stroud?
micnificent28 replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
tanking isnt specifically about stroud i feel. I feel its about being in the best position possible to help your franchise in the future no matter who you take. aif i want stroud it will cost u a lot less if your already at number 1. Vs having to trade up and loss more capital from say 8. Even if you dont want stroud you would be in a better position to take the BPA or even trade down and take say young and make a few extra picks to boot. -
Brian Burns has never had a double digit sack season
micnificent28 replied to Growl's topic in Carolina Panthers
Thats true. I didn't want to win said meaningless game. im only speaking on the talent itself. Given if u trade burns u have to draft a replacement who might not even be as good as him. Your spinning your wheels in place when you already have a young pro bowl talent. Eventually you have to pay someone. We havd the cap to do it because we sony have an established QB. so why add another hole just to get picks for picks sake. even with said pick your not guaranteed to get someone as good as burns is. -

" the panthers were stupid to not trade him for 2 first and a 2nd". "He's a good player not a great one." -
Foreman looks like the missing hammer this team has been missing all those missed CMC 4th and 1 conversions. But seems we have in short term always found some relatively obscure rb to emerge whenever CMC vacates carries. Mike Davis comes to mind... with that said which is better? and do we resign or let him walk like Davis?

Probability Analysis of the Burns and DJ decision
micnificent28 replied to Evil Hurney's topic in Carolina Panthers
people complaining about what burns Extension would cost.. I'm thinking who really are we paying? we should have plenty of cap space in the future with no cmc no darnold and no baker.. not paying a franchise qb 400 million should have us in decent shape. -

posts like this bring down the level of seriousness i should take the huddle. average at best? -
Is Burns really worth backing up a Brinks truck?
micnificent28 replied to mc52beast's topic in Carolina Panthers
this.. thank you for being the voice of reason. -
its possible. But they could be a lot like what Gross matos is.. what they got for those 1st was players who got them a super bowl. they do need youth and im not saying they building a team the right way. But they were in win now mode.. it is warranted.
-
I mean I dont know what else to tell you. Your buying late first round picks which are essentially a second and a late 2nd round pick essentially a 3rd and hoping you get a player of burns caliber or better.
-
I mean they did just win a super bowl within the last year so yeah its justified.
-
your knowledge is the opposite of impressive.
-
people here dont seem to understand all 1st round picks are not equal. Burns taken at what 14-15 almost assures you he is one of the top 2 or so players at his position. you take the rams 28th or 32 pick those guys on the trade value chart might not equal up to the caliber player burns is. those picks might not =the value of the 15 pick on the trade value chart. Not to mention it was a outstanding pass rusher draft. we have seen classes where there are very few edge rushers that go in the first so what if that year is next year? also saying he isnt worth it is dumb. If a super bowl team like the ram who evaluates talent better than draft picks say hey we will give you 2 1st and a second for your young stud then guess what they see the talent and value as well.
-
its not burns falut they stink. Hes one of the few parts that work. why would you trade a working peice to replace the same peace and hope it works?
-
so basically rams offered 2 first round picks for burns. those picks because the rams are decent would be towards the back end of first round. we got burns mid way through first. so the value of 2 late round picks might not even equal burns value. not to mention one of those picks would have to be his replacement. If your trying to replace him you need to hit which isnt a sure thing. could just set us back. same thing with Moore. hes a proven entity. 3 1000 yard seasons... finding those guys isnt easy. Especially guys that are good and young which both are.
-
Thats a big gamble and what if.. What if the guy you draft isnt as good as burns a proven player who has made the pro bowl. If a team is willing to give up that much for him dont you think they have seen enough to warrent giving up that much and approve of his value? Yes we would miss him that much because without him who else has gotten consistent pressure on the qb this year? answer no.... and he draws double teams and chips because we have no one else.
-
His play on the field isn't the problem. yes hes going to get a brinks truck. he gets good pressure on the qb even if he doesnt get the sack. disruption is production and can lead to a big play. its like a corner that doesnt get thrown at. Brinks truck for a guy for a young pass rusher who is usually good for 1 sack a game is warranted.
-
He's to big a gamble. right now he would be based 100% on potential. Tepper doesnt seem like the gamble without data to back up said gamble type guy. Cam was a gamble. .
