Fitterer and Morgan draft presser today at 2:00

Oof with Picketts low physical ceiling and needing 5 years at average college competition to produce a solid season do not want. Watching film breakdowns I feel like Malik already had some NFL worthy mental decisions when scrambling even though he was in a limited system with sub par Wr's. Pickett has a lot of really questionable softballs thrown into zone coverage that would equate to many interceptions in the NFL. Malik usually throws a to the sidelines kinda thing where only his WR can get it/throwaway play to live for the next down.
-
Yup that's a precursor to Pickett's 2022 lowlight reel if we draft him.
-
I'm interested in how all of the teams pick in such a weird draft. More interested in that than what guys we get for Rhule to not develop/bench/whatever he's up to this year. Definitely won't be glued to the tv set unless we get a crazy trade back offer
-
He also removed the 3rd year $21M of the contract which the numbers don't exist anymore but I think I saw it would have been a $5M dead cap hit to cut him this year.

They don't really need to clear the cap space, they might have to just pay almost all of his salary in order to trade him out of the division

Teddy agreed to restructure his contract/take less money to go to Denver. Baker doesn't have to help Cleveland out at all

Week Of: Draft Buzz, Rumors, & News (w/updates)
Jackie Lee replied to davos's topic in Carolina Panthers
Picked a bad year to not have day 2 picks. Might be stuck at 6 with no one wanting to trade. Or we just get fleeced in the trade for only a 3rd or something -
Yup. Cut Cam, Had Teddy and paid for him to play for another team, wrecked our draft this year for Darnold while not taking Fields or Jones probably out of embarrassment. If he's worth anything he should have Darnold and CJ Henderson playing up to their draft positions, he asked for it. We're all miserable but in hindsight this is going to be worse than Chip Kelly bad as far as a complete waste of time
-
At best he developed Miles a bit, Melo is naturally talented but don't see any coaching improvement from last year. He then proceeded to play mostly journeyman vets over Thor/Kai/Bouknight who Kupchak is probably frustrated are not getting their developmental minutes. I kinda wish he hadn't gotten Plumlee or Trez for the year so he would have been forced to play/develop the young guys instead of stick with stubborn safe rotations. Lazy coaching in my opinion
-
The whole reason we have like 30 threads on all this is because this staff made the now incredibly frustrating. That said I'd take Neal/Ikey. If gone then Malik or trade back. If we do have a trade back I'm sure we'll have a 50 page thread of new theories in real time during the draft
-
I disliked the Darnold trade and not taking Fields the minute they both happened so I haven't second guessed anything, I'm actually sticking with my prediction that Fields is going to be a good QB after not having a great first experience with Chicago
-
Fields should have been the pick even with Darnold and the 5th year option. If Darnold actually had worked out we could trade Fields above any of these current prospects easily for an extra 1st, or kept him on the cheap ready to go for next year. Obviously we should have kept Teddy and taken Fields but I still wanted him after the Darnold trade.
-
That all sounds about right. I can't for the life of me understand why McDaniels got 20 minutes a game playing with very little energy, and JT Thor would come in randomly for a couple minutes here and there and get everyone pumped up with a block or dunk etc.
-
James Borrego / Matt Rhule…. Is their a worse 1-2 combo
Jackie Lee replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Borrego was closer to a Rivera kinda guy. People liked him but stubborn about playing his vets over talented young guys just sitting on the bench. Also choking in back to back play-in games, basically playing street ball against coaches that came in with playoff level game plans. -
Yup when no one wants to block or rebound and you have JT Thor/Kai wasting away on the bench it made no sense to me. Isiah Thomas is cool but you just drafted Bouknight in the 1st and proceeded to bench him basically the whole year. No "development" in moves like these
-
Was too dejected after another play-in blowout, but it's interesting these guys felt comfortable speaking openly about things directly related to coaching.
-
Yup. It'll be interesting to see if Bouknight/Thor/Kai can get some actual minutes under a new HC.
-
Usually a guy threatens to sit out because he wants a real contract instead of the 5th year option. Mayfield is already guaranteed the money as far as I know, if they don't get him off the roster I suppose he could get some fines for not showing up but I don't know if it'd equal the whole amount or if the money would magically go back into the Browns cap space.

Athletic mock projects NC State tackle to Panthers
Jackie Lee replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I do think if theres a trade up it's going to be to get in front of us, leaving us potentially stuck at 6 with no day two picks. -
Raimann kinda scares me that high, Austrian foreign exchange student might not have the mauler vibe we're looking for. If we move back far enough to get a legit bag of 2nd and 3rd round picks you got guys like Zion/Kenyon Green/Kinnard/Sean Rhyan and a couple others that would all be interesting Late 1st/day 2 guys
-
This is a great piece, plenty of f bombs in this as well
