Former Panthers QB Cam Newton to be throwing at Auburn's Pro Day
Jackie Lee replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good point. I'm sure he'll make a Youtube vlog about the whole day -

Yeah basically creating some interest for both sides who would otherwise be off the public radar -

Is he throwing for their WR's because they don't have anyone legit for the drills? Or they don't have a draft eligible QB so they're letting him showcase what shapes he's in? I guess there's not really any specific rules about who can do what at pro days -
Fitt's gotta know him

I mean he could probably beat out Baker, Rams might need a QB. Just not a ton of jobs open. Packers or Jets depending on that headache situation getting finalized. Good to see him working though, could get signed after an injury somewhere -
Reich/Fitterer noon press conference

Not mad at Luvu being an option to move inside and outside at LB. Most were assuming he'd be starting on the edge but he's proven to be really good in the middle of the field and reading run plays especially. -
He did come off IR and finish the season last year so that's a good sign. It's not like he needed another surgery or anything
-
Could be, seems like it's mainly the right ankle he has recurring issues with

Granted as much as I like Wilks, I've never liked that zone scheme and it really didn't fit with our roster of guys that needed to be more physical to succeed. And the fact he's bringing Hartsfield to SF with him just adds to the argument we made the right coaching decisions. Taylor looked a lot better his rookie year honestly.
-
Not only starting but they're fine with passing up Stroud and Young to build around him instead. It's nice seeing some teams trying to put their rookies in a position to succeed rather than the Rhule approach. I think we're set up for whoever we get to have total fair shot at proving themselves franchise worthy, instead of hoping they can put the whole team on their back

I just watched his "highlights". Dude seriously winces every time he's about to get tackled. Not interested in a tall glorified slot receiver, we just got Thielen to basically be that guy
-
Hurst was the only guy in the top 5 that can catch and block well, he'll actually be useful on run downs and QB scrambles

Panthers still have $23.5M in cap space

Stroud gonna cost about $8M, maybe $4 for the rest of the draft. They like to keep $10m for insurance so maybe one more pickup -
Bryce is gonna have to do something sometime soon, something seems off about how he's treating all of this

Seems like he's getting the same amount he was playing for this year, but playing/getting paid over the next few years to earn that same amount -
Yeah people don't seem to grasp the idea of a red zone specialist. Julio could get 1k every year but couldn't do poo in the red zone. It's not always about running faster than some 23 year old CB

I wonder if they told him who they were taking at QB with the #1 pick before he decided to sign! I would like to know if I were him
-
I said Cotchery for the record

Even without our rookie QB, we actually have an NFL coaching staff and roster! There were obvious times in last couple years where I felt like I was watching an XFL team play against NFL competition
