Which QB Best Fits Reichs RPO Style Offense?
Jackie Lee replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
At least for now he'll have the benefit of possibly the best QB coaching staff ever assembled for a few months of his life so hopefully it'll help him out down the road -

Yeah I don't think he has the brain for it but someone might be desperate enough to trade something for a project due to injury -

Young drops back so far because he can't see anything in a normal pocket, and he needs distance from the D-line to not get his throws batted down. He's done RPO's but it's like inches away from the DE getting a hand on it at the college level at times -

He was injured before Rhule got fired. Numerous players looked much better after Rhule got fired. You need 4 Qb's for camp anyway, if we cut him for nothing we'd have to pick up some rando that has zero trade value. -

Why would you cut him when we have 20 roster spots to fill to get to 90? Wait for an injury somewhere in the league before September and get something back -

I think Cam maybe muddied the waters for some casual football fans. The QB isn't the running option in the RPO! The RB is the running option because the O-line is run blocking! No one knows what the QB is going to decide, they just do their jobs which is why it throws defenses off. -
ESPN’s Matt Miller inside info on Panthers #1 pick

Nice little time stamp on this vid that is actually really good so far. Maybe Stroud isn't as fast at processing as Young on the S2 test or whatever, but when he's scanning the field in the pocket, his eyes are synced with his feet so he's ready to throw. His footwork in the pocket when it's relatively clean always looks good to me -
Sucks it happened to him, but after the Watson and Wilson contracts I'm guessing there's a bit of owner collusion to get these guaranteed contracts back down to the mid $100m's

I know, usually there's an agent the QB could blame the "business side" on but not in this scenario lol.

I'm hoping he looks decent in camp and that we can trade him for something. No reason to dump him before the 53 man cut for nothing. Injuries could happen to us or another team anytime between now and then -
They have $6M in space before OBJ because they have the $32M tag on Lamar. I'd assume that means a Lamar deal is imminent to shift a bunch of that to bonus money this year

It's good to see him on his feet, he got royally screwed -

Same. I prefer the expanded playbook Stroud would allow the staff to install. Like Young better be a top 5 QB if you're going to give up QB sneaks and pretty much all chance of convincing a defense to bite on under center play action -

I did, and Texas screwed up 2 sacks and dropped at least 1 pick as well. These things happen every game to every team so not really seeing the point of your defense

What does the under center stuff have to do with this discussion? We already had a thread highlighting CJ had 120 something snaps under center and Bryce had 4. Bryce will probably not be under center unless it's an obvious short yardage handoff, I don't think he'll be very good at play action against NFL defenses -
That's ESPN's own rating system which means nothing to me. The actual numbers aren't good, and the tape also doesn't look good in those games

Yeah all that scrambling and wearing out your O-line just to complete a 15 yard pass or whatever. That's not gonna work at the NFL level. When he actually faced real NFL level pressure he wasn't very good. Texas- C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT QBR 27/39 213 5.5 1 0 75.9 Georgia 2022 C C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT QBR 35/57 369 6.5 1 2 82.3

Also why are people assuming RPO involves the QB running? It's usually a hand off/one read pass option -

Obviously Stroud would be better running RPO's -
We have 6 draft picks, that's pretty standard

Have we ever had room to sign 20 UDFA's? They must like their core 53 quite a bit

My worry is a play action under center keeper, he rolls out and
