Bryce Young can have a breakout season in 2024
Jackie Lee replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes anyone "can" possibly do good at something of their choosing. I'd prefer someone writing an article to go all in and at least say "Why I think Bryce will have a breakout season". Everyone somewhat optimistic about him still has to acknowledge that everything in his game and everyone around him needs to be near perfect for it to work. He has no physical gifts he can lean on when things break down around him, and the OC has to build the whole offense around his limitations while somehow not being too predictable for opposing defenses. A tall ask -
Team makes roster moves before start of camp

So half our rookie class is banged up lol. Can't wait for XL's hamstring to start acting up again -
Already looking for help on our injured defense

It's going to suck not having that college campus media vibe, guys getting filmed getting out of their cars with bags and laundry hampers lol.

We have like 4 beat reporters and a handful of youtubers that will sneak cameras into training camp. That's good enough for this poo football team

Good point, we'll see if the Bears also fuged themselves by not just taking Stroud pretty soon! I'm not expecting much from Caleb Williams
-
Yeah I'm just saying Stroud gave everything tangible proof he was him and it blew my mind his performance was taken as a one off. If that kicker had made that field goal and he had a chance for the championship vs Alabama I think the narrative would have changed
-
It was pretty evident in that Ohio State-Georgia game that CJ was the best college qb available. Some took it as a one off performance and then the S2! oh no! He did everything you could ask a qb to do in that game against what is basically an NFL level defense, then his kicker missed a game winning field goal so his performance went under the radar.

Bryce Young can have a breakout season in 2024
Jackie Lee replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah he missed my point. I wasn't saying Jake was comparing their physical attributes, I was saying Canales got to work with two guys recently that already had good arms and relatively good size, all he had to do was tweak their footwork and game a little bit. Bryce is a whole other level of project because he physically doesn't have any physical strengths to work with like the other two. Doesn't zip it in tight windows, doesn't throw a good deep ball, can't stand tall in the pocket. He's willing to take a hit but if he's in the pocket he has to bunny hop to even get the throw off. It's just way more of an uphill battle than what Canales had to figure out with Geno or Baker. Plus they had multiple years of experience in the NFL already as far as reading defenses etc -

Yeah comparing two guys with very good arms and years of experience in the NFL getting a boost from Canales coaching them up is different than Canales trying to work magic with Bryce, write a playbook around his limitations, and head coach the whole team. Specifically Geno was on the bench for 7 freaking years lol. Baker would have been more appropriate to highlight, though he can actually zip the ball and throw a nice deep ball, work out of under center for play action, etc. He could do all that before Canales got to work with him -
Anybody excited about our young core?

I was about to say JT Thor but of course they declined his 4th year option a month ago lol. Almost got a W for South Sudan vs our all star team -

Add the rookie cb to that list -
This looks about right for the bottom dwellers

Hey I was just searching youtube for any new pre-camp stuff and the espys thing popped up with some different video angles that looked more straight on. Dunno if a video camera can be wide angle-ish creating a fishbowl like effect or not

Bryce Young can have a breakout season in 2024
Jackie Lee replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Picking up Jack Plummer as qb3 didn't exactly strike me as them taking it very seriously this year. I know they're going to play Bryce no matter what but Plummer isn't even a developmental guy, he's just tall. -
It's a pretty weird setup with the Vikings. Darnold is assumed to start week 1, doesn't mean he can't lose the spot. But also Mccarthy was a top 10 pick, who is viewed as a little raw. So does he get a shot to beat out Darnold? I sure wouldn't want a raw rookie top ten pick to "sit and learn" behind Darnold and develop bad habits. That's gonna be a rocky start to the season either way

If I didn't recently find out about Facebook Marketplace I would never use it except as a photo storage kinda thing

Even if he meant it more in Canales being responsible for turning Geno and Baker around, yes both can throw it deep. Watching Bakers tape from last year, he is getting the ball out fast, but it also has noticeably more zip and Bryce. Without the deep ball and the zip into tight windows I'm not sure if the passing game is going to compliment the run first thing like Canales is used to. No Seattle Wilson like scramble yolo balls either, those just get thrown out of bounds
