Pat speaks the truth if anyone hasn't watched him lol. He's not x's and o's but he's got a great perspective
-
There is still no proof BC can be decent at guard, no power run game, easily bull rushed...Still don't get it. It was Rhule's idea, the same guy that said Slater wasn't a LT even after he had a pro bowl season.
-
Darnold and a draft pick is my guess. Still relatively cheap for a qb room for one year. It'd work out to like $25M total for Rookie/Darnold/PJ
-
Or reinforce the line, show the team is ready to go minus Sam, and maybe you're in position next year to draft your guy or at least attract a solid FA vet.
-
They didn't clarify either way if it was looking for a QB or looking to get rid of Darnold so who knows. I think at this point they feel good where they are until the draft starts. If they draft a rookie then paying Sam $18-19M isn't the end of the world when the rookie is going to have a $5M cap hit and PJ is basically free. If they don't draft a qb then they might have to do some wheelin' and dealin' or beg Cam to come in to compete again with legit incentives if he starts x number of games.

Let Scott get his LT, he did his job and fixed the O-line in one offseason. Now let McAdoo and Rhule earn their jobs. Enough of Rhule blurring all the lines so he can deflect over and over again
-
Yup he also mentioned McAdoo already talking with Sam, and pretty much referred to his QB development skills as one of his strengths. Basically he got Eli out of his funk in NY when he came on board, fixing his footwork and drops etc. Can't give Darnold a brain replacement tho..
-
Biggest take away was it sounds like no one wants Sam

I think Teddy actually restructured just to get out of Rhule world actually now that i'm looking at it. If that's the case and the 5th year option is all or nothing and I"m another GM I want Chinn w Darnold or I have zero interest.
-
We paid 70% of Teddy's 2021 salary for the Broncos to take him. I'm basing that concept off that trade, not sure if 5th year options are different
-
Say if you're the Texans GM or whatever, and you take on $19M for Darnold and Shi Smith and send away a 3rd round pick you should be fired immediately. If you do it and send away nothing you should still probably be fired
-
Not sure if 5th year options are different but we paid 70% of Teddy's salary last year for him to play for the Broncos, otherwise we were probably stuck with him
-
Trubisky is getting like $7M from the Steelers, Teddy $10M from the Dolphins so that's the market for a question mark/backup QB. And yes why make that deal? That's probably in the ballpark of whats being offered but we don't really have any option besides keep him or take a shitty deal to get rid of him
-
Yeah, IF someone takes on Darnold we're going to still be paying $10-15M of his salary and giving up a decent rookie. It's obvious teams are waiting for the Browns to eventually cut Baker and eat all that cap hit so someone can sign him for cheap. Why would Darnold be any different?
-
Ickey had a good combine so got a bump in the media, but his pass pro on film is a question mark. Neal is the best ready to go all arounder. Cross is good technically but not a mauler. I think all 3 would be an upgrade for us but Cross basically plays the same game as BC but longer arms!!! and better against the bull rush.
-
I still can't believe they didn't keep Teddy and draft Fields last year.
-
It won't be fun but Rhule should be tied to Darnold, fix the line and coach the guy you gambled on.
-
Nobody wants Chuba thats like any 5th round RB any given year. We got Foreman for $2M and he's an immediate upgrade
-
it'll all be much clearer when they eventually fire Rhule and we can be good or suck for obvious reasons. Hard to solve problems when the HC is creating numerous ones to hide his deficiencies
-
It's a March Madness of upsets, I guess this one is more even though. I'm in NYC so watching St Peters bring that street ball tmrw night for sure.
-
With that argument why not put Darnold back out there with the improved (in theory) O-line?
-
Yeah I think on the right team could be Alex Smith lite but with Rhule he's more of a Blaine Gabbert
