  1. I need to hear what Bryce Youngs Ceiling is, because it seems like "Crafty game manager that can't play under center and shouldn't run the ball" A more adventurous Teddy B but smaller
  2. Sanders basically mirrors TJ Watt on Ras, but got experience in the middle this past year. Scary. I like them both, either one at 39 would be amazing and would start day 1
  3. I really can't see why anyone would love his arm talent. I'm watching a bunch of tape right now and he just seems like a game manager to me. Like a Teddy B who can/will/needs to scramble to find a throw. CJ can carve people up from anywhere, just seems like it would translate to the NFL better to me
  4. If we were still 4-3 Campbell would be perfect to step in as the MLB, in the 3-4 Sanders is more versatile as an edge rusher/ILB combo. Imagine swapping Sanders and Luvu back and forth from OLB/ILB depending on the down. Both could stay on the field and drive OC/Qb's crazy
  5. Ok, went through both guys vs Georgia (Both Bama games). CJ>Bryce
  6. I've been planning on watching some Bryce stuff tonight and tmrw. Curious to know what his consensus best game was. I'll definitely watch the Georgia game since that's the closest you can get to comparing the two back to back even though GA had a lot of turnover between seasons
  7. Mostly the pocket movement stuff that he didn't really show before, accuracy while throwing to his left when rolling out, perhaps going through full reads but theres enough footage showing him being able to scan the field for me to be comfortable he can do it
  8. Stroud's last game he did what everyone wanted to see him do so not much to it. If he looks close to that week in and week out that's a franchise qb
  9. That looks crazy in slo mo. Time stamped
  10. This was the actual play he sprained the shoulder on
  11. Apparently shoulder sprains are already a thing with Bryce
  12. PJ is 1" taller and at least 10-15 pounds heavier than Bryce for reference
  13. Yeah I usually disagree with who he puts the blame on when there is a drop or bad route/O-line breakdown or whatever. JT/Josh/Warner all have different opinions. Josh and Warner actually played a substantial amount and seem to have a more omniscient view of how they break down tape
  14. So Bryce can quickly process that he can't make a throw that CJ could make. It's nearly impossible to compare each teams O-lines and how opposing teams decided to pressure them if you switched Bryce and CJ on their respective teams. I think Stroud can give a team more opportunity for adjustments that will counter whatever defensive schemes other teams come up with. Bryce's style is great when it works but when it doesn't you got a lot less playbook to pick from at halftime when you need to make adjustments
  15. You don't think it's interesting that he was under the radar, showed up as a late invite to the Elite 11 and won MVP? I like the underdog working class grinder type. He's way more mature than your average 21 year old
  16. Yeah I wanna watch more Flutie and Russ under center stuff, Kyler hasn't done much of it yet but it will be interesting to see if the new coach forces him into it and whether it'll work or not. Thanks for the level headed discussion
  17. Yeah, it's harder to the sell the play action from shotgun, and the RB can't get as much momentum as he would from getting the hand off from under center. I'm sure he can pull off handoffs under center on short yardage stuff, but actually rolling out to pass with a DE in his face might not be all that effective. That's when the big QB hits and batted passes would be a legit concern
  18. Young stans are ignoring this thread because there is no way to sugar coat being too small to run play action and QB sneaks under center. We got this crazy ass coaching staff and they probably can't play QB under center? Seems like it would be a waste of resources
  19. Well this newish Cardinals article is interesting. New staff is hoping Kyler can add more under center snaps to his game, he has the lowest % in the league currently "I think we can take him to another level and unleash his full skill set," Gannon said. "We're not gonna put him in gun all the time, I'll tell you that. We'll have two significant offenses with his skill set: one being under center and one being in the gun. Then obviously we're gonna do what's comfortable with him. The way to take pressure off the quarterback and the O-line is to put him under center at times." According to NFL Research, Murray was in the shotgun 92.3 percent of the time the last three seasons, and his 2.9 percent time under center was the lowest of any NFL QB. No QB was in shotgun more than Murray in 2022. Kingsbury had once said there wasn't anything that could be done under center that couldn't be done in shotgun. Murray has said he's more comfortable in shotgun. But being under center makes it easier to run play-action plays, and Gannon (and incoming offensive coordinator Drew Petzing) sees that potential. "That's the missing piece I thought they had with Kyler," Gannon said. "They were in gun all the time. When you're in gun all the time, you don't make the defense defend certain play types. Now, when you get him under center, the defense has to defend a lot more type of play types. So there's really two offenses I see us using."
  20. This one doesn't have numbers but has some interesting comments https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2019/08/how-alabama-qb-tua-tagovailoas-pre-snap-position-could-create-more-red-zone-success.html Word around Alabama is the Crimson Tide has made a concerted effort to make Tua Tagovailoa more comfortable operating from under center, in part, because it could help improve the Tide’s performance in the red zone after experiencing shortfalls in that area last season. The problems Alabama experienced in that condensed part of the field came to a head last January, when Clemson crushed the Tide, 44-16, in the national championship game. During that miserable evening in the Bay Area, the Tide scored one touchdown in its four trips inside the red zone, executing 13 of its 18 plays out of Shotgun once it cracked the Tigers’ 20. During the one sequence when Alabama did breach the goal line, Tagovailoa lined up under center behind a jumbo package and completed a play-action bootleg on a one-yard toss to tight end Hale Hentges, who was wide open.
  21. Seems like it would be easier to find solid numbers for that, I don't subscribe to any of those pff style sites though
  22. Taking play action from under center out of the playbook would be insane right? Stroud has done it and looks natural doing it
