  1. I'm so sad that I agree with every point. This team is just not being run well.
  2. definitely agree Our WR group last season was much worse than expected. And there was little to no development of the rookies.
  3. Pasqualoni has a lot of NFL experience. Unfortunately most of it is 1 or 2 year stints as the DL coach and a couple of short lived DC positions. Which suggest he wasn't a rousing success at any of those jobs. I guess it's an OK hiring. Just having more NFL experience in the building is a good thing for Rhule. But this hire definitely doesn't blow me away or anything. wikipedia
  4. There are some question about who the Jags will re-sign from their current OL or go after in free agency. But it sounds like new HC Doug Pederson is adamant about creating a solid OL in front of Trevor Lawrence. So that means a very good chance of Neal, Ekwonu or Cross being taken with the first choice. Which, of course, cuts down the LT possibly available at #6. Will any of the big three LT be left when the Panthers pick ?
  5. Doug Pederson in an interview may have given some hints at where the team is currently leaning. “I still believe that games are won and lost in the trenches, honestly,” Pederson said when asked about the importance of protection up front. “You’re not going to have a passing attack if you can’t protect the quarterback. I believe in throwing the football, I think you throw to score and run to win. That’s kind of my philosophy in this deal. “Teaching a young quarterback like Trevor how to really throw the football and be a great passer in the NFL, but if you don’t have the guys up front to protect him it’s just hard. It makes it really hard.” link
  6. This is just pure speculation. But I was wondering if Campen might see Christensen as a C. Campen was a long-time C in the NFL so what better guy to teach him. And short arms wouldn't matter at that position. Centers are generally the OL coach on the field so I could see Christensen evolving into that role.
  7. I totally agree. Take an LT at #6 and go with the strength of the draft, also solving a team need that has existed for years. I'm just saying Willis has some really good qualities and IT'S POSSIBLE he develops well. But a lot of "ifs" have to go right for him so it's more likely Willis just busts and ends up in the CFL.
  8. It's gotta be tough for Pickett. He was ACC POY and on draft day a bunch of coaches and GM's are just going to remember how he didn't hang on to the football that one rainy day at Senior Bowl.
  9. With the right coach, the right offense built around him and a lot of team patience, Willis could turn into a great QB. Just don't look for any of that to occur in Carolina. But somewhere else Willis could thrive.
  10. A huge part of a rookie's success (and especially for a QB) is where the player lands: how stable is the franchise ? how good is the coaching staff ? how much patience does the organization show with player development ? does the player fit the offensive scheme they run ? is the rest of the team built up ? (solid OL, competent receivers, good running game, good D) is there playing time available ? Mac Jones landed on a team that checked every box.
  11. profession scouts have rated the players as such: 6.50 Zach Wilson - boom or bust prospect 6.47 Trey Lance - will be starter within first two seasons So let's see how Sam Howell's prospect grade turns out. RemindMe! 2 months
  12. I know enough to understand I don't know anything about this. But OL Coach Campen does. So whoever he likes is the guy(s) to get.
  13. I don't think it would work with Pickett. But I understand Tomlin is quite enamored with Willis. So that might make the deal.
  14. Pickett is a 5th year senior. He should be the most polished and mature at the interviews.
  15. I don't want to see any fatty-fat OL with their shirts off jumping up and down - gross ! But I'd be down with fat OL on waterslides or fat OL doing a cannonball competition
  16. Pickett will be 24 going into his first NFL training camp. He had great success last year as one of the oldest and most experienced players in the ACC. So, considering that fact, his great season is less of a surprise. I also wonder how much better Pickett can get in the NFL. Realistically I don't think it's that much. He'll be a Teddy Bridgewater game-manager QB at best. On a dysfunctional, poorly coached team like the Panthers, he would likely just flame out and then develop into a longtime backup QB that plays for several other NFL teams.
  17. The hires of McAdoo, Tabor and Clampen all suggest somebody at the top realizes Rhule needs help from coaches with NFL experience. If that's Rhule, then great. He's growing as a coach and as a person. If these hires were forced on him by Fitterer then Rhule's self awareness is still an ongoing problem. We'll see . . .
  18. I'd much rather see anything else than this abomination of a football game: a skills competition a Madden game between the two teams (or NFL guys vs pro video gamers) a competitive eating competition for the OL nothing - just an announcement, hand them a plaque and a meet & greet with the fans
  19. Trey Lance is a great athlete who sat for a year at SF, soaking up what an NFL QB needs to know. Zach Wilson has a rocket arm and the charisma to lead an NFL team. I don't know if that will happen in NY because they are such a dysfunctional franchise. But Wilson is a player. I can't see Howell being anywhere near either of those two.
  20. No surprise Pickett did well with the interviews since he was the oldest QB at the Senior Bowl and had played for 5 years. He should be the most polished and mature. The big question is whether he's topped out or if there's more room for him to grow as a player. He'll be 24 starting his first NFL preseason camp.
  21. Most likely 2 LT (and maybe even 3) will be gone before we pick. That's how strong this position group is in 2022. And also how weak this QB class is. In normal drafts 1 or 2 QB are usually selected during the first 5 picks. I really doubt that's going to happen this year.
  22. if Carolina doesn't solve their longstanding LT problem this draft, it's only because of sheer incompetence
  23. And it's the opportunity cost. Who could you have had at that pick that would now be starting for you ? For instance, if the Panthers take a QB this year at #6 and he busts, the team misses out on a LT in a strong class of OL in 2022.
  24. Maybe 2013 should have been a no-QB draft. EJ Manuel was selected at #16 by Buffalo as the only QB chosen in the 1st. Manuel was a big, strong, fast, rocket armed QB who had great success in college at a top program (Florida State). But he never developed into a reliable pro starter. He was essentially done after just his first season in the NFL. Injuries contributed to Manuel's demise. And also his coach Doug Marrone quit Buffalo after just 2 years and new coach Rex Ryan just didn't seem too interested in him. So changing offensive schemes and franchise instability didn't help him much either.
