  1. With a CMC trade, the Panthers would take a huge cap hit. Probably would have to absorb some of CMC's massive salary to get the deal done. Wouldn't get much in return since it's all about dumping the salary. And finally we'd likely see him become an All Pro on his next team if he were used correctly. All in all a huge fail for Carolina.
  2. I never said it was a good idea to turn Deonte Brown into a Center. I think it's incredibly dumb. But that's what the Panthers are doing apparently. Any HS coach could tell you it's best to put a player in one spot and let him get used to it. So I don't know why brainiac Rhule insists on moving his rookie OL around so much. It's so detrimental to their trying to establish themselves in the NFL. Both Christensen and Brown should have been plunked down in their respective spots (LT and RG) and kept there ALL SEASON LONG.
  3. It's Deonte Brown they want to try at Center. "Brown also knows that as he competes for playing time, versatility can only help him. He said he wants to spend some time this offseason learning to play center as well." https://www.panthers.com/news/brady-christensen-deonte-brown-working-for-future-roles
  4. When the Texans walked away from the Senior Bowl coaching opportunity, it was obvious that Culley was going to be canned.
  5. with Urban Meyer gone, Rhule is now the whipping boy of the NFL
  6. Hire Mike Munchak for an obscene amount of money as the OL coach. He's a former 9x Pro Bowl Guard and one of the most well respected OL coaches in the game. Make him Assistant Head Coach. Give him a guaranteed, multi-year contract. Whatever he wants. Just get him here. Give him the first two picks in the draft. At #6 it would likely be Tyler Linderbaum or one of the LT. In the top of the 4th starting interior OL can still be found so trust Munchak's eye to get one there. Then give him a blank checkbook to hire any FA linemen he needs. Will be expensive but it will add one or two more top guys. All that influx of talent + Moton and great blocking schemes fixes the OL. Brady Christensen & Deonte Brown finally get good coaching and start to develop as credible linemen. Cut every other guy on the Panther's current OL. Add a couple of blocking-first TE and a massive FB as UDFA. Nobody wants those positions anymore so it wouldn't be too difficult to find them. Also some UDFA RB to have a bunch of bodies available for the expected injuries during the season. Fill the practice squad with these guys. With the vastly improved OL and the extra beef to support the run, our rushing game improves significantly. This provides great support for the QB and makes the play-action pass work. We're stuck with Sam Darnold as QB next year so maybe he plays "OK" with all of these improvements. I don't think he'll ever be a long-term starter in the NFL but maybe he's good enough to get through the year. Sign a vet QB as well. This team wouldn't be too explosive but would eat up clock, let the defense rest and cover up the sins of having a below-average QB. Maybe leads to a .500 record but it would be a vast improvement over this season. And it would set the stage for drafting a top rookie QB in 2023. All the pieces would be in place for him to succeed right away.
  7. JAX, DET, HOU all played with heart at the end of the season. Jets have a talented rookie QB that will get better if he is supported (OL, good WR) The only team with a poor record that I think might be behind us would be the Giants. And that's only because their starting QB got a neck injury and his health status is up-in-the-air. If Daniel Jones comes back fine next season, I'd say the Panthers are #32.
  8. It seems like Tepper has given Rhule a reprieve if he fires a bunch of guys - most of whom deserved to be let go anyway. I doubt Rhule can survive another 5 win season.
  9. Flores is a good coach. The players didn't quit on him even during a lost season and they won 8 of their last 9 games. I think he'd be an excellent hire anywhere.
  10. Hire Mike Munchak for any amount of money that he wants as OL coach and running game coordinator. Give him absolute free rein over the draft. He uses every pick on OL. Add a couple of bruising blocking TE and some FB who is 250 lbs as UDFA. Then absolutely pound the other teams with an unstoppable rushing attack of 150 ypg. It opens up play action for the passing game and allows Sam Darnold to just be a caretaker, game-manager QB.
  11. The same thing the Huddle has been saying about Christensen ( don't move him around so much ) was quoted by Fitterer as one of the reasons why he was put in such a tough situation this year. Well then WHY THE F*CK DID THE COACHING STAFF KEEP MOVING HIM TO 4 DIFFERENT POSITIONS AS A ROOKIE ?? If was one of the most obvious things that any high school football coach would know. Yet somehow our NFL coaching staff was oblivious to it. Including Mr I COACHED THE GIANTS OL Rule. Just infuriating . . .
  12. Houston may want to promote Pep to OC as well. It would be a far more attractive position with Davis Mills as a young QB to work with.
  13. If this team doesn't pick one of the top 3 LT or Linderbaum, I'm not coming back.
  14. Moton, Burns, Shaq, Reddick, Chinn, Gilmore, Horn, K Zane Gonzalez maybe DJ Moore
  15. from the Texans message board on Reddit: "As a fan you have to feel good about moving forward, from just a player performance view. Mills looks like he has grown, defense was solid, Nico Collins could be a break out star next year. With picks and some off season additions the fan base can start finally get excited again" At least the Texans fans have hope. The Panthers just have soul-crushing incompetence.
  16. Texans rookie QB Davis Mills throws for 301 yards and 3 TD with no INT's in the final game. Almost pulled off the victory in the second half by rallying his team for 25 points. Mills was a third round pick. He could be their QB going forward. If only the Panthers had competent player scouting like that . . .
  17. Lions, Texans and Jags all played with real heart today. I wish I could see that in the current Panther squad.
  18. Keep building up the team until you can draft one. That way all of the pieces are (mostly) set for the rookie to succeed. Use a veteran game-manager QB during the build-up period.
  19. I need hope or I won't be back. If Rhule returns it will be like watching a slow motion train wreck all season.
  20. The more I watch of Carson Strong, the more he seems like the real deal. But he's also a 1 year wonder like Pitts so caveat emptor.
  21. I could even be flexible on wins this season if the young players were clearly developing: Christensen and Brown were locked in as decent OL starters by the end of the season Terrance Marshall was clearly our #3 receiver and rising Tremble had grabbed the starting TE spot Jeremy Chinn and Derrick Brown were having even better seasons than 2020 If most of that were happening, I could see that the team was starting to gel and more wins would be the likely outcome in 2022. The current reality, however, is that ALL of the 2021 rookies completely stagnated and the 2nd year players got worse. That is the OPPOSITE of what should be occurring during a rebuild. Coach Rhule needs to be held accountable for the lack of player development under his watch.
  22. Seems like the most important point for an NFL coach should be this: 1) Must be great at X's and O's. Willing to grind day after day after day looking for the smallest weaknesses in your opponents to exploit. Also be able to view your own team the same way to avoid being exploited by the opponents. This awareness allows the head coach to make adjustments both between games and within games. ******************************************************** Rhule seems to be tremendously bad at this.
  23. Well Deonte is an immovable boulder so maybe it would be good to have him there. He'd never get bull-rushed back into the QB. But the Center usually calls the protections and shifts. Does he have any experience doing that ?
  24. Good article about Tyler Linderbaum and the 2022 draft. Written in the perspective of the NY Giants, which also gives some insights into who they will take. It seems OL is crucial for them as well so look for one of the LT to go to them. They have two top picks so the Giants could easily take 2 OL including Linderbaum. Their OL is that bad. As such I wouldn't advise the Panthers getting too cute with trade downs or they could miss all the blue chip talent. article
