It's also a thread where I replied that it would have been nice to see more effort in attempting to catch the thrown ball. And when I say that, I'm not referring to the game-ending INT. I'm referring to the DROPPED PASS that would've iced the game in favor of the Panthers ( you remember the 3rd down play, don't you?). That's where my ire is aimed at. Now if Sam played well from the get-go, that wouldn't even be a blip on the radar but QBs have bad games and it's up to the Receivers to do whatever it takes to help them.

At the time, the Panthers were driving and trying to score the game-winning touchdown or tie the score with a field goal. Anderson ran a comeback route, and Eagles cornerback Steven Nelson sat on the route and stepped in front of Anderson to pick it off. After the game, Nelson said he knew it was coming because Anderson had been lined up in that formation all game. That’s what Anderson said he was trying to communicate with the coaching staff. He thought he should run a double move to take advantage of Nelson sitting on the route. “I felt we could capitalize off that,” Anderson said. “That was my mindset. I have a very high football IQ. I was brought up under veteran legends, Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker. And I study the game, and I study myself. So I know my capabilities, I understand coverages, and I understand football, so it was along those lines.” Anderson hasn’t quite connected with quarterback Sam Darnold this season. He has 12 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown in five games for the Panthers this season. That is tied for fourth on the team. Last season, Anderson led the Panthers with 95 catches, a career high. He also had 1,096 yards receiving. Anderson said he felt his role has changed some this year. He has said some of the routes he’s running are different. But he felt his time would eventually come. “My goal is to help us win,” Anderson said. “So if I don’t touch the ball and we win, it’s fair game. My ultimate goal is to win. I’m a team player. But losing, I’m a sore loser. ... Everybody on this team — we don’t touch the field to lose. No. We didn't. This issue only arose when CMC got hurt and Sam had to play without him as his safety net. Had he been available against Dallas and the last game, we might (*MIGHT*) have been 5-0. Also, as was already stated, CMC masks so much of the stink of our O-Line, it's not even funny. Basically, with CMC we have a shot at making a run at the playoffs. Without him, we're thinking Draft right now.

That's also true. None of us have played QB in the NFL so we don't know what he's facing at ground level. I'm just saying what i see from the tape. For all we know, an attempted pass could've been tipped and Intercepted or a fumble would've occurred... I know that. I've already stated that we had not only 3 timeouts but the 2 minute warning. It was a bad decision on Sam's part. It's like he made up his mind to throw to Robbie NO. MATTER. WHAT. sigh....

Actually, Chuba was also open but if he threw to him, it would've been 5 yards he would've gained and then tackled. Whereas with even as slow and unreliable as Ian is, at the very least Ian catches the ball and gets most of the yardage (lost via penalty) back to where the team is in 2nd and manageable with the 2 minute warning(and all 3 timeouts). And I don't get why you're assuming what would happen had he thrown to Thomas(incomplete pass? To a wide-open receiver?)...But I still would say it would've been the wiser move than forcing it into triple coverage.
