Draft screwed…. Season screwed…. Coaching screwed…. Future screwed
glenwo2 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
PJ-worshipping clown. -
It's just an irrational fear I have, that's all.
-
Agreed. We don't even know who is going to be available to draft yet.
-
Very true. It is what it is. So let's go draft a QB (or just give a Corral a shot), sign Darnold to a backup contract, draft a F*CKING TIGHT-END, and...oh....Hire a Coach who is more in-tune with Today's NFL. No more of these former DEFENSIVE Coordinators (or absolute frauds like Rhule) being put at Head Coach anymore.
-
Tight-End should be the #1 position we draft, imo.

Actually it still is a good idea to draft a QB anyway (throw darts at a board, so to speak). -
What a punchable face.

I wouldn't know. I just became a fan last season so I'm still learning about how to deal with the pain. -
We pick #9. That's it. We are not picking worse than that.

So I take it you're upset? -
"Fitterer made some mistakes but learned from them, imo"

^^^^ Agreed with everything here. My issue with Fitt is his desire to trade down in the draft. With the Panthers slated to pick at least #9, I really hope he doesn't do that again. Also, I still agree that picking up Sam's 5th year option was ridiculous and dumb but in hindsight (as it turned out), it led to us potentially having a solid backup for whomever young QB we draft (or Corral) going forward. A case of Bad Process, Good result there.

Let's keep the insults coming, people.... -
Well good news you two 'cause apparently we can't do no worse than 9th.
-
He's not on drugs. But he can slam a door in people's faces with the best of them.

Looking back at this, you did jinx it. LOL! Just so you know, this in regards to the fumble that happened involving him and Bozeman. Bozeman snapped it before Sam was ready and I blame him (Bozeman) for that. But I blame Sam for not just falling on the loose ball instead of trying to pick it up.

I wonder if Steve Cohen is interested in owning an NFL Franchise..... -

He didn't name names but the implication was there (pay no mind to the peanut gallery telling you otherwise). -

I didn't want to pie this but you know more about Panthers fandom than I so you would know. sigh..... Might as well pull up a chair and get comfortable. It's going to be awhile, isn't it? -

Sure. Be sure to let Wilks, Sam, and the rest of the team know that. I'm sure they'll do exactly what you want. Come on, man. First it was worrying about the team messing up draft position, which I totally understood. But now it's just about not getting moral victories? How is that going to affect things? These are grown men and I seriously doubt they'd want to have their final game of season end on a losers note. -
Yeah I was surprised they, for the most part, swallowed their whistles.

Under the current standings, the Panthers (6-10) would pick ninth overall next year, and because of the way the NFL breaks ties for draft order, that's unlikely to change much in the next week. The league uses strength of schedule to break ties (low to high), and since the Panthers currently have an opponent record of 121-133-1 (.476), they're still going to be on the low end of the seven-win teams if they beat the Saints this weekend. The top five spots will be occupied, in some order, by the Texans (2-13-1), Bears (3-13), Broncos (4-12, and they owe that pick to the Seahawks), Cardinals (4-12), and Colts (4-11-1). The Rams, at 5-11, are currently in the sixth spot (that pick is owned by the Lions now). Spots seven through nine are currently held by the Raiders, Falcons, and Panthers, and the Raiders and Falcons each have lower strength of schedule numbers than the Panthers. But because the Panthers' .476 strength of schedule is significantly lower than any of the teams that currently have seven wins — the Titans, Saints (who traded that pick to the Eagles), the Browns (who traded that pick to the Texans), Jets, and Steelers — they'd be at the top of that group in draft order with a win against the Saints Sunday. That won't impact the way they prepare for Sunday's game against the Saints (7-9), but the result won't likely impact the draft order much in either direction. https://www.panthers.com/news/where-could-the-panthers-pick-in-the-2023-draft Direct from actual sources. So it doesn't matter whether we win or lose so the Panthers can't f*ck up their Draft position regardless. Though I'd give Fitterer a good chance of doing just that with his stupid obsession with Trading down. Anyway, now that we know it makes no difference, I would like to see this pathetic season end on a High-note. Not because I believe in momentum but because I'd rather see a "W" in the end than another "L". -
You really hate these people, don't you? lol

And that's what we needed : an Anti-Rhule type of coach. Hopefully the next Head Coach is even better. And interestingly enough, if Rhule wasn't fired and the team finished the way some of the "draft gurus" here wanted, that would be the end of Sam as an NFL player, let alone QB in the league 'cause he wouldn't have gotten the chance Wilks and MacAdoo gave him that put him in the position to salvage his career as it turned out.
