Carolina may not "be sold" on young (per athletic)
BlueBuck24 replied to Champagnepapi704's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sign a veteran bridge QB (or re-sign Andy for this role). Draft Cam Ward. Let bridge QB start and Cam sit and learn for a bit. Profit. -
Idk about y’all, but I’m enjoying the hell that is the last week and a half for the Bears. That fan base has been insufferable since the trade and I hope the worst for their franchise. Raise your “We won the Bryce trade” banners!

I would agree with all of that. Would not be the worst thing in the world to get a high pick in 2026 with a promising QB because our defense gave up too many points, either. Want to see him continue this run, but I’m starting to come around on the idea that Cam Ward is a Joe Burrow/Jayden Daniels kind of player that can completely change a franchise.

Cam Ward is easily QB1, IMO. I’m not sure that it makes sense for this team to take a QB with the way the roster looks, but by the same token hitting on a QB can really accelerate the rest of the roster quite well. Shedeur can sling it, but I have major concerns about his leadership and personality from some of the stuff I’ve seen, but he’s a young kid so maybe getting out from under his dad would help him in hat regard.

So.... do we win a game next year?

I just want James Pearce Jr. in the draft next year. Let’s make it happen. -
Getting Crunch Time for the Panthers and Brian Burns

This is the funniest part of some of this nonsense. Even John McClain (esteemed long time Texans best writer) said the same.

https://t.co/wQjwMWhwdn “The Carolina Panthers are expected to try to re-sign do-it-all linebacker Frankie Luvu. Both sides discussed a potential deal last summer and didn't agree, but those talks could heat up around the combine.” An absolute must, IMO. Spotrac has Luvu’s value at 4/45.

Breaking Down the Shrewed moves that Built the Carolina Panthers
BlueBuck24 replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Scott Fitterer genuinely had one of the worst tenures for a GM in NFL history, Rhule or no Rhule. -
1 year as an OC. 20th ranked offense in DVOA (-3.6%), 20th scoring offense, 23rd in total offense, 17th ranked passing offense, dead last rushing offense. Not particularly whelmed.

Hot take: We need a defensive-oriented coach
BlueBuck24 replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hire a good GM who understands the importance of draft capital, roster evaluation and timing when it comes to roster building. Hire a good HC, who has a plan for Bryce and the offense (whether he’s the playcaller or an offensive guy or not, is aligned with the GM, and allow him to build his own staff. profit. -
Thank you for the thread Verge, in particular the tidbit about Carolina preferring AR v Levis (very reassuring to me). I’ve disagreed with your QB evaluations before (in particular about Willis and Fields) but always appreciated the time and effort you put into them. Thanks for still being around these parts.

New Coach Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo

Shane Steichen better get a 2nd interview. -
I wanted to tank when Rhule got fired and thought Wilks would be a dumpster fire of a HC like in Arizona. Now? All aboard the Wilks bandwagon. I want to make the playoffs. This team is so easy to root for. They play tough, they’re physical, and the OL is a thing of beauty in the run game. Let him bring in a legit OC next year and let’s run it back. He’s a leader.
-
Trading for Sam Darnold. Justin Fields should be a Panther. Fields aside, knowing what Sam was, when we traded for him is when my faith in Rhule began to wane.

Sources: Nebraska working to hire Matt Rhule as coach

As an Ohio State alum I want to dump 3000 points on his head next year. I can also tell you definitively, through my own contacts that there is no love lost between OSU’s staff and Rhule after how they perceived his regard for Justin Fields 2 years ago. -
Could’ve been our Jamal Adams trade. The springboard of a war chest of draft picks that propels the new era forward. 2 1’s and a 2? That’s an absolute no brainer for any franchise with a coherent plan when it comes to a player of Burns caliber. That’s more than Khalil Mack went for considering what the Raiders sent along with him. Massive mistake rejecting this offer.

Justin Fields 61 yard rushing touchdown
BlueBuck24 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Some posters in this thread are hilarious. So dug in to a take. Fields is progressing every week and he has made significant strides in the passing game and if you can’t see that, I genuinely don’t know what to tell you. -
Iowa’s defense is actually really good. But Stroud showing on that last drive what he’s all about. My biggest complaint with Stroud is always that he doesn’t leverage his athleticism like he should. He’s 6-3 215 and pretty darn athletic for his size, but he’s so determined to throw it and not be a runner that he ignores open running lanes.

So who is better, Stroud or Young?
BlueBuck24 replied to Randolph Panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ohio State hasn’t really been known for high QB picks until 2019 with Haskins. And Day told Haskins directly, along with all 31 NFL teams that spoke with him, that he was too immature and needed another year in college. FWIW, my OSU sources have raved about Stroud for a while now. Fields is more gifted in terms of athleticism and arm talent, but Stroud’s accuracy and anticipation are 1.1 quality. He’s the reason Chris Olave and Jeremy Ruckert didn’t enter the NFL draft after 2020. I think Bryce is really good too though. Frankly, I’m of the opinion to take whichever QB the GM/HC/OC believe in the most and build around them, whoever that is.
