He was a good plaver for UVA. I was hoping He'd be able to play special teams and earn a rotational role (kind of a poor man's AJ Klein). Good Luck to him!

Team Perspective. What is best for the Team?

What is the best course of action to take regarding Teddy? (1) Trade him for very little before the season and eat a large portion of his contract (Avoid distractions- Free up a little Cap Space- choose a back up that is all-in). (2) Keep him to back-up Sam and pay him all of his huge contract for sitting (maybe trade him later for something, have him available if something happens to Sam) (3) Cut him (free him to find his own way- Free up a little Cap Space, but eat a lot of dead money)

DJ Moore is an important piece of our offense. He has produced and proven durable- something that can't be said for many other receivers, including some of the ones that were previously listed as possibly being better than DJ. The 5th year option should be picked up soon I'd think.

grant is more of pure FS. We really don't have that on the roster right now. It could really help us (Grant or Holland)

If we do not pick a LT at 8 I think we need to at 39. Radunz is a good option. I would not complain about Leatherwood or Eichenberg either. There is a pretty good T at Oklahoma that good be an option but I think he has played a lot on the right recently. If we get a LT in round 1 then we could go a lot of different ways in R2- Safety (T. Moehrig if he falls or J. Holland) or another good O lineman (L. Dickenson, Davis, maybe Humphrey) would be my top options. I'd like a TE too, but besides Pitts, I am not sure there's another TE I'd pick before R3 (just my Opinion).

I'd prefer bringing in a veteran QB as the backup to mentor Sam D, and cut the other guys. If we do decide to draft a QB this year as a project or maybe to compete with Sam I would prefer (1) Davis Mills, (2) Kellen Mond. I wouldn't Midn picking up Jamie Newman for a true project to run the practice Squad.

https://catcrave.com/2021/04/18/carolina-panthers-sign-quarterback-alex-smith/ What do you think about this potential move?

We need a LT Period. We draft Sewell if he falls to us (i think its a no-brainer!) Slater is the next best option but what if Pitts or Fields are available at 8 too. Who do you think is higher on our board Slater, Pitts, or Fields?

I always wondered if KB could have played TE. I wondered if he had ever tried it, or was asked to by anyone at Car. or Buf.? Probably not here cause Greg was healthy and going off!
-
I honestly think the QB room as a whole may look entirely different. Darnold will probably be #1 unless fields falls into our lap at 8. We could draft a developmental QB later like Mills, Mond or Trask (I'd prefer Mills). Bridgewater is on his way out (trade or cut-hopefully traded). Grier and PJ both will be released also unless placed on the Practice Squad (probably PJ). Tommy Stevens will be cut also unless he sticks as a TE on the Practice Squad.

Panthers 2020 Offensive Line Ranked 18th of 32
Michael G replied to KatsAzz's topic in Carolina Panthers
PFF is not perfect but it is fair and non-partial. The QB can also affect the O-line ratings because some just hold on to the ball too long (and sometimes that may be because WR's aren't getting open). Football really is a true team game. I think the best measurement is always wins and losses. Last year our O-line sucked because we lost 11 games, but it wasn't all their fault. The team has a whole lost 11 games so their was plenty of sucking to go around. Hopefully we get more tools and better game-plans and coaching this year and we win more games! -
That would be a good draft CPF4IFE. I would really like to see us draft J. Holland or Richie Grant in the 2nd round (or 3rd if one of them is available). I also like R. Stevenson as a mid to late round option at RB. He's a bigger back that I think could find a role in this offense. I really would have liked to have seen more packages with Cmac and Mike Davis on the field at the same time. I think its a look that would give the Offense a lot of options. They might be able to have that with someone like Stevenson too.

With this Draft I focused on the O- Line at the top of the draft, secondary help in the Middle and got a DT, a WR/KR and a developmental TE who can also play Punter the later rounds.

Elf had a quality Rookie season back at Minnesota I think, but then injuries and the Jets blender turned his career into the Poor Grades he received from PFF. I think the deal he received is 3 years because it was easier to spread his money around for Cap Reasons. Maybe the change of scenery and (hopefully) better coaching will see him and Darnold succeed. I think both their success (and the whole team's chances really) may hinge on finding a quality player to line up at LT.

Are You Really Against Fields or Lance if they fall to #8...
Michael G replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
TL may be the only sure-thing as far as QB's go. The other top 4 QB prospects all have their +'s and some have a ton of possible upside, but are they really going to be "The Guy." Now compare them to Sam D. He has a lot of upside but hasn't reached his potential in NY (His Fault/Jet's Fault, Who Knows?). Is he "The Guy"? Can he be the "Guy"? I think if the Panthers are Drafting anyone but Lawrence they are betting that they can bring out their best, just like I have to think they are betting they can do that with Sam (They are treating him has if he's coming out of college kinda). I think they will not take another QB (especially not Lance or Jones), because they are thinking they can fix Darnold. They will draft a LT (maybe Pitts if he's there) or Trade Back. -
No Pitts? Slater gone? Pene off the board?
Michael G replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd maybe say this draft outside of a couple of players is a crap shoot event inside to top 10 based on the limited body of work and tape on many of these guys. Because of Covid (Opt Outs and shortened season). I -

I guess this really comes down to who is available. Do you take that Great Player if he's not a QB or Tackle? What is its a receiver (Chase)? Should we take a Great Player at a position we already have talent or Trade Back and maybe get a few decent starters at positions of Need? -
Denver may be trying to wait to pull the trigger on any trade to after the Draft. They could also be waiting- like perhaps a few others for Carolina to cut him. It is obvious he's not wanted back so why would anyone offer up anything for him under his current deal, when they could sign him for near League Min. (Especially with the Panthers still paying out his guaranteed money).

Surtain, Farley, and Horn all have concerns. None are as complete as the 1st round talent in other drafts, but with some coaching up I think Horn has the most potential. There are a lot of possibly good projects in rounds 2-4 but when is it too high of a pick to spent on a project? -
If Lance and Fields are still there I mean?

I still can't believe that the 49ers are going to take Mac at #3. I hope they do, but because I'd love it if Fields or Lance were to fall to #8. It will be really interesting to see what Rhule and Fit do in that scenario. What would you do if Lance and Jones were both still there? R1 - TL R2- ZW R3- Mac R4- PS R5- JC R6- KP R7- Slater
