  1. There are teams banging on Carolina's and Detroit's doors to try to find someone to trade up with for a QB. If Sewell starts falling, I bet they'll be even more calls. If Detroit doesn't grab him then someone will come out of the woodwork to pay them enough to trade up and grab him before us. No way he is available at 8. I really hope I am wrong but.....
  2. We do need something like that. Gerrid Doaks from Cincy is a similar back. Big (230 or so), and can pound the rock between the tackles. One of the draft previews i read said he was good in pass protection too. Probably go undrafted but might be worth a look with our last pick.
  3. Bryan Mills from NC Central is someone who might be available in R6. He's long but skinny. He is always working on tape even if he's messing up, seems very competitive. May turn into something.
  4. Another late round WR he might turn into something I think is Marquez Stevenson. He had a reputation for speed but his recorded 40 times are slower than you'd think. He is out of Houston. He has done well as a KR and I think his game speed is pretty good. Seemed to outrun everyone he played against despite the slow 40 (if the mid 4.4s early 4.5s are slow).
  5. BPA available but with an eye towards improving weak-spots on the roster. LT, more OL, FS, CB, TE, IDL, LB- being the needs points to a probably mostly kind of balanced (but slightly leaning Offense) Draft.
  6. I think they are making "contingency deals." We will trade this for that if certain players are available. It probably happens all the time.
  7. Bill's gonna give us Cam Back! .......He will let us keep Teddy and Sam plus give us a 7th in 2038! What a deal! All for our # 8 and (maybe Cmac). He will explain how its such a good deal because it will ensure we get a shot at Sam Howell next year!..Oh Bill he's so good to us!
  8. Panther's D-Line Burns, Brown, Jones, Hassan R Rotate -Fox, Matos, and maybe Roy into the mix. Snow will show lots of different looks and fronts and imagine these guys with the ears pinned back on 3rd and longs (LOLB Burns, DE Fox, NT Brown, DE Matos, ROLB Reddick) If we get good play from the second level I think the defense will be really, REALLY. good.
  9. If Hurney was still the GM we might trade down and give up picks to get Horn! But honestly, I think he's got the potential to be very good. He's fast, big, physical. He just needs to be a little less grabby and learn how to wrap-up when he comes down to tackle. I'm not a scout, just a cynical guy sitting on a coach- so take my view for what its worth.
  10. It will come down to what the coaches think. I really think they are trying to look at Darnold with "Fresh Eyes." I mean, as if he is coming out of college this year along with Fields, Jones and Lance Etc. If that was the group that was coming out (minus the bad tape from the jets- keep the good and bad tape from USC)- how does he stack up? Whatever they think the answer to that question is and who is actually available at #8 will determine who plays QB for us.
  11. I agree with the perspective about letting Bradberry go and giving Shaq a large contract (it was definitely a mistake in hindsight). Horn though I think is a different player than Bradberry. He has more upside. He is a little longer and a bit faster I think. Whether he can develop into a quality starter like Bradberry is the question. He might turn into a really good player but i'm not sure he is one of those "elite 15" prospects. To me he is right at the top of that 2nd tier. Just my opinion.
  12. I like Simi Fehoko (out of Stanford) in round 6, and even more in R7. He is a tall, fast WR with the type of traits that can't be coached. With good coaching and hard work he could really be a steal!
  13. I can see A. Thomas as an option in the later rounds. IMO He hasn't played enough ball to warrant a high draft pick, unless I'm confusing him with someone else. There are a # of CB's that may prove helpful at some point in the later rounds. If we are wanting someone who can come in and compete to start right away, there are only a couple of options at CB and I think they will go early (Surtain, maybe Horn). Newsome, Adebo and a few others that might warrant a 2nd or 3rd round pick may be able to help some as rotational guys.
  14. I wouldn't call Pitts a check down target, but there is no doubt he would help Darnold and the team. IMO though, Sewell is the option (if I'm TB). There are TE's that can taken later too that may have check down potential. The debate on this is probably moot, since neither are likely to be there at 8.
  15. I agree, But if I'm JB- I want a quality LT. I am praying every night that Sewell falls to #8. I am also pushing to shore up the holes we have on Defense. Any smart offensive coach knows its easier win games when you don't have to score a tons of points every outing.
  16. Fit did not indicate it. Typo on previous post.
  17. Fit did indicate that the team was committed to picking up the 5th year option. He phrased it that way on purpose, then he added another layer to the smokescreen by pointing out he team had not addressed DJ Moore's 5th year option either. I don't think its certain they pick up the option, but I do think its probable, especially if the team does not get Fields at #8. After the draft they will pick up DJ's option and probably Sam's. Like an earlier post explained, the team has nothing to gain by "showing their hand." I think that most of the moves they have made have led towards having more options to choose from during the draft, which, beyond picks 1 and 2 is very unpredictable. Fit wants to have multiple options depending on who is actually on the board at #8. Sam and the ? of his 5th year option is part of that plan that is in place.
  18. If Sewell is available at 8 I think its a slam dunk. The big questions are- How much do they like Slater? How do they rate Darrisaw? Do they like Slater enough to take at #8. Do they like Darrisaw enough to trade back if both he and Slater is available at #8?
  19. The QB issue we are in has its roots in Teddy going 0-8 in winnable games last year. If Teddy (and the team) wins 3 of those I think he is our QB again this year. Darnold was not our first option, he is the back up plan or maybe just the contingency plan if Fields is not in play at #8. Right now all our "what ifs" and "should have dones" don't mean anything. After the draft we will know what our outlook for and plans for QB will be. Hopefully whoever it is will be able to have time enough and confidence enough to use the weapons we have on office and take shots down the field to win games in the 4th Quarter.
  20. I like Hartsfield. He is more versatile than Corn E. It was good to Corn step up his game last year though. The quote I found interesting was Rhule talking about being the first Coach to offer K. Pitts a scholarship. If Pitts slips to #8 (I know its only a dream) then he is definitely the pick!
  21. Panther O-Line in 2021 LT- (Sewell, Slater or Best Tackle Available in the Draft) LG- Pat the Elf C- Matt P. RG- John M. RT- T-Mo Reserves- Daley, Scott, Erving, Little..... Does this worry anyone else?
  22. I have seen all the Mocks that say Fields falls to 8, but I can't buy that either. I guess it will come down to the interviews. The only way I see him falling is if Lance and Jones just kill their Interviews, and he says something like, "What's a playbook? Can't I just color instead?".
