Post Rookie Mini Camp 53 man Roster Projection
Michael G replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
Josh Klein lists Arnold, Tremble, and C. Thompson as the team's TE's. If Ian Thomas is cut then will C. Thompson be the 3rd TE? The other TE's on the roster now include Stephen Sullivan and Giovanni Ricci (a UDFA from last year who was a converted WR). This could be a spot we see Tommy Stevens get some reps too, if he sticks as the 3rd QB and we have injuries later in the year. -
Post Rookie Mini Camp 53 man Roster Projection
Michael G replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
The rule is kind of weird. I'm don't really get it. It seems Teams can have a 55 man roster on game days but only if they move players up from the practice squad at some point (and all those guys can't be active) and they have to choose who every week by a certain time. So its not really a 55 man roster- as for portions of the week those two guys can be snatched off your practice Squad just like everyone else on the PS. Maybe someone else can clarify this for us, but i think I got it basically right. -

No Doubt its early but there are some talking points like who is gonna be the #3 TE? What is the OL gonna look like? How is our secondary gonna shake out especially at Safety? What would your roster look like (at this point) and why? -
https://theriotreport.com/very-early-panthers-53-man-roster-projection/ The Riot Report (Josh Klein) posted a way-too-early post Rookie Mini Camp Roster Projection. He has Grier, Thomas, and a few other notables being cut. Nothing too surprising. Check it out. What do you think about his roster?

D. Anderson always made me feel good about our QB room. I also loved Nick Goings and later Fozzy W. AJ Klein was a Jag here probably too--Kyle Love also
-
another former Rhule player was waived by Arizona yesterday- Former Baylor safety Chris Miller- He was a UDFA last year I think.
-
I watched it also and don't think he was the best player there by any stretch, but he shouldn't be. He's a Rookie training with some of the League's best established veterans. I was encouraged because he seemed to listen to coaching, which means he will get better and learn and that's about as good as you can ask for IMO.

I hope he starts and plays well but we have the ball last and win in the final seconds with Sam leading the team. I wish Cam well and will pull for him in every game except for the ones against us. Go Panthers!

How athletic IS Deonte Brown? aka Corn Bread/Big Bread
Michael G replied to blueandblackattack's topic in Carolina Panthers
Is that ok? ...I mean....one of them is a little bigger than the other...uh...wait..I guess that's natural? -
I don't know if we'll see him in a Panthers Uniform. I for one am ok without him. I'm not saying he wouldn't make us better, but with what we might have to give up to get him and the addition of whatever baggage and character concerns his behavior (warranted or not) has created, I would pass. I still think he stays in Houston. If he chooses to play and plays well most of this years troubles for him won't amount to much more than a hill of beans, next year. He'll be in a much better position to get himself out of Houston then
-
I Think Watson will be so happy if this blows over and the League lets him play that there won't be a trade because he'll agree to stay in Houston for at least one more year. Houston really won't let him go unless he "holds out" or refuses to play (which would not help his stock either).

A Brag and Something to Remember
Michael G replied to Little Goody Two Shoes's topic in Carolina Panthers
I played sports (Baseball, B-Ball) in jr high and high school and it was just fun for me. I put in a lot of work because I was small, slow, and not very athletic overall, but I like being part of a team and I had to work hard to make the team. I enjoyed it and did it for free of course (its school). I had no chance to play in college no matter how hard I worked. I'm honestly torn about this because I know some Players are just so talented, and even though they put in work learning the game and staying in shape (To me that was just fun!). I don't want to say these guys don't work very hard, but to make the money some of these guys pull in --man I just don't know if I can honestly call it justified. I know they often choose their profession over families and put in a lot of time but I think Mahomes money (even though he is Great) is a little too much unless the guys also working to cure cancer or something. *Congrats to LG2S and their boy- That is awesome -
How athletic IS Deonte Brown? aka Corn Bread/Big Bread
Michael G replied to blueandblackattack's topic in Carolina Panthers
"Athletic" is just one piece of the puzzle. Its obvious it is highly valued by our FO and coaches. Being more Athletic lends to being more versatile (and we love versatility). That said- the coaches obviously saw something in Deonte and think he can help the team. Hardwork and intelligence are important traits that can help less athletic players excel, especially in the right circumstances. "Tape" doesn't lie, and Deonte has some good tape. I hope he and David Brown come in, work hard, and stay healthy. If so I believe they will do good things for us! -
THE GREATEST QUOTE IN CAROLINA PANTHERS HISTORY

Poppa don’t lose no fights when the kids are around- Smitty has a bunch of them also the one about Checking your references.... -
I thought the video was very good. I like that they got multiple Panthers past and present involved. The fact that Nationally Known NFL and sports guys like Rappaport and the Pardon the Interruption crew were involved, is evidence of how well our Media team executes these types of things.
-
That's it then. Stokes and Clark are the final two. Alaina just missed them. Bayless and the other guys I mentioned have all been to a rookie camp before; Bayless with us last year; Sullivan with the Seahawks, and Stevens with N.O.
-
Manhertz beat this kid out last year and we know what type of receiver he was/is. I would have thought that would have motivated him...but we didn't see much of an impact on the field. I hope he improves and does well but I will be a little surprised if he does--whether its for us or someone else.

Tommy Stevens or Stephen Sullivan maybe....
-
They only listed 32 of the 34 players so maybe he (Darius) is one of the 2 they didn't mention. I wonder who the other guy might be?
-
I didn't see Darius Clark (RB) listed in the article. He was the guy they signed after that Football Camp in San Diego- from a really small school in SC I think...

Scott Fitterer: We want Sam Darnold to just flush what's happened
Michael G replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Its like comparing Apples to Oranges no matter what. (Darnolds Jets v Cam's Panthers). We will get to see the only comparison of the two that matters this Year when the Panthers face the Jets (If they both are still healthy and starting by that point). For the record I hope Cam wins every game he plays this year but that one (and maybe the second meeting if both clubs make the Super Bowl). -
