So I guess Brady could be a backup Swing Tackle and Erving could be a Backup (or starting?) Guard.
-
IMO he is definitely a better T than guard- for the reasons given here.
-
Brady has good feet and is agile. He just has trouble anchoring against more powerful rushers. Camden said in his PC that he thought Brady had the potential to play all 5 spots (hence my earlier response). I don't think that means he can play them all well though. If they draft a LT early Brady will most likely transition to G or C. Cam Erving will probably be our backup swing tackle (if he does not start).

Later Round QBs. Is there anyone worth a look in the Draft?

EJ Perry. I have not saw much on him. His stats are encouraging. I'd assume he'd be someone that may wind up as a UDFA. I agree 100%. -

According to the team website we did have Zappe in for a visit. -
It would not surprise me if they move the kid to C this year and let him get reps there and learn the position. He seem smart enough and agile enough to be a good player there. I worry he's too light in the A$$ to play Guard.

Lets think like John Lennon and Imagine we get a LT at 6 and do not trade back. Also Imagine we do not trade back up into the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Considering this we are staying put at pick #137. Are there any QBs worth picking to develop. I have ran through several Mock drafts that have Carson Strong available here, but I'm not sure he falls that far. Zappe, Glass and Cole Kelley seem to be available there in most Mocks. Are any of these kids worth a look at 137 or after if we go LT at #6? Does anyone know if we have had any of them in to visit or if we have scouted any of them more than usual?

If it was the NFL that may matter. Not as a college player with tons of different factors Its a snapshot. His stats are not horrible. Better Comp % 2 years ago, More TD's and Yards 3 years ago. Then figuring in the improved rushing this year--its not all regression unless you are lookin g at it in a limited fashion. The kid makes adjustments to his game, has some tools, and is a dog. IMO He is not the most polished prospect-he was some flaws fore sure-- but there are some positive traits to work with.

CMP ATT CMP% YDS AVG TD INT LNG RTG 2021-----217 347 62.5 3,056 8.8 24 9 76 154.2 2020----237 348 68.1 3,586 10.3 30 7 87 179.1 2018----259 422 61.4 3,641 8.6 38 7 68 160.2 Statistically he did not play bad last year. He was a little less productive as a passer but the added ground yards really helped compliment his game. I think some folks see his performance in a positive light because he really gave great effort and found a way to make things "better" with a much less talented supporting class. I do not think he is a top QB in this draft but Id be surprised if he last into round 3. He has a lot of traits to develop. Career stats are updated nightly

"What are we doing in the draft" 2022 edition.
Michael G replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree mostly. I definitely want a T at 6 if Ike or Neal are available. Things get messy if neither are. Assuming they are I'd like to see someone brought in to compete with same (someone cheap). I would not trade for Jimmy or Baker unless they are put in a "clearance bin." If we could get Minshew cheap I'd go that route, or maybe if we are lucky we can get a developmental QB with our 4th round pick. I'm not against brining in a low rent FA. either...just somebody to push Darnold (Walker doesn't seem to be that guy). -
Fitterer on trading out of the #6 pick
Michael G replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
IMO if Ike is there you pull the trigger unless you get one hell of an offer and Neal or Cross might be available still. If Ike is gone and Neal is there then, again, it depends on the offer. If Cross is the one left (other 2 are gone) then Its a real mess- cuz I wouldn't want to miss out on a LT, but he's not really the one I want. I'm not sold on Penning later either, so this would be a tough decision, but I'd probably trade back. It all depends on who's still available and what is offered. I don't think anyone would just be stuck and not consider the possibilities.- 107 replies

How dangerous is Willis as a runner? What makes him special?
Michael G replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah he looks very athletic despite getting tracked down at times. His stats indicate he's a good runner too. I just worry that he won't look so special against NFL defenses based on his Liberty tape. -

Michael G replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've seen various articles and a few tweets by pundits that say Willis was clocked running a 4.37- 40 back when he was at Auburn. I have no doubt he is fast and runs a sub 4.5 40, But like someone else said there are quite a few instances on tape where a LB from Campbell or Army tracks him down from behind. Its a little concerning. There is more to running and scrambling than pure speed I guess. -
Yeah but I think Todd Bowles had as many wins in his first season as Jets HC has Rhule does after 2 years with the Panthers...

Orlovsky: Pickett doesn’t have anything that isn’t coachable
Michael G replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
C'mon Orlovsky! You can't coach those tiny hands! -
I agree somewhat. Willis is definitely faster. I Think PJ has a big arm too. Nether are super consistent with accuracy. Their tape to me looks similar though. On tape at Liberty Willis seemed a man among boys sometimes- but not always. PJ looked that way sometimes in the XFL. Against NFL competition PJ just doesn't seem to belong (like most UDFA's). I'm not sure Willis will look much better against NFL defenses. We will see.

I made a comment in another post that Willis' highlights remind me of PJ Walker's XFL highlights. I do not disagree with the OP. Time will tell I suppose.

Matt Rhule trying to explain it......
-
Rhule would say something like "We projected Neal as a late first round G and 2nd round Tackle..." or "Cam Erving is a LT. We like the guys we have..."
