People forget how good of a blocker Mangum was. He didn’t get dozens of targets but he caught what was thrown to him.
-
Not the root cause but our TE room is not good. Tremble is a fullback playing TE. Ricci is a decent blocker that gets open because nobody covers him, and Ian Thomas is well below average. This franchise has usually always done well in the TE group. Walls, Mangum, Olsen, Dickson. I would rather have King, Rosario, or Barnidge than these guys.

So where were our other HCs at going into week 5 of their 3rd season?
Cdparr7 replied to Cdparr7's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’ll correct itself after tonight. Will probably be the 6.5 range -
I anticipated at least a 15-20 ranked offense from him. I did kind of expect it to be bland but Jesus, it’s like water soup.

No Tepper just wants to say he gave Rhule a fair shot. It’s hard to sit at the other side of the table to defend your job when you had 3 years to do it. It also makes other HC candidates feel more comfortable, so they know you aren’t going to yank them out of their office after their first bad game.

Dom Capers- 21-15 George Seifert- 16-20 John Fox- 19-17 Ron Rivera- 14-22 Matt Rhule- 11-26 Keep in mind that Ron Rivera started the 2013 season 1-3. Starting with close losses to the Seahawks and Bills, a victory over the Giants and then a pitiful loss to the Cardinals before winning 11 out of the next 12. By no means should you hold your breath for that though, as the 2022 Panthers have shown none of the promising glimpse that the 2013 Panthers did. I anticipate Rhule will be here until playoff elimination.

Sam is a better runner, so there is that.

Give me some hope. Can this offense be turned around?
Cdparr7 replied to Khaki Lackey's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think people are forgetting about Sam last year. Rewatch one of those 2021 games and come back. -
I think they are about the same talent level. Ekwonu has the edge in the run game and Cross has the edge in the pass game.
-
I thought that was who Rhule was talking about in the press conference today when he said “they can make plays but they need to get open”. I don’t know if it’s just because they put their best guy on him or if he is just having issues getting separation this year.
-
Didn’t he sign a huge extension? Doubt Tepper is going to buy out his contract, pay off Rhule and then give him the money and control he will want.
-
Interim coach would be somebody already on staff most likely.
-
Rhule won’t have any. He will have excuses. He will blame injuries and Joe Brady.

Will this franchise ever have an "offense minded" head coach

I don’t care which side of the ball they coached as long as they win games. -

Are we at the lowest point in panthers history?
Cdparr7 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
97-02 was pretty bad but there were some bright spots in 99 and 00. We missed the playoffs by like a touchdown in 99 I think. 95 7-9 96 12-4 Lost Conference Championship 97 7-9 98 4-12 99 8-8 00 7-9 01 1-15 02 7-9 03 11-5 Lost Super Bowl 04 7-9 05 11-5 Lost Conference Championship 06 8-8 07 7-9 08 12-4 Lost Div Round 09 8-8 10 2-14 11 6-10 12 7-9 13 12-4 Lost Div Round 14 7-8-1 Lost Div Round 15 15-1 Lost Super Bowl 16 6-10 17 11-5 Lost WC Round 18 7-9 19 5-11 20 5-11 21 5-12 22-? -
Khan would fall all over himself trying to get to his phone if the Panthers left Charlotte.

Does Tepper keep Fitt and let him hire his own coach?
Cdparr7 replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fitterer is a likable guy but I’m underwhelmed by him. I think he’s a breath of fresh air because we had Hurney for 2 stints and a fat joke in between those two stints. All of his trades and all are exciting but I haven’t exactly seen any of them pan out. He has depleted our draft capital and while it’s two early to tell on his draft choices many of them have been underwhelming too. He’s not Marty Hurney which is why he is liked so much. I think if Rhule goes, he needs to as well. -
Dream HC/OC/DC Combination For Next Year?(Week 2 Edition)
Cdparr7 replied to Asaria's topic in Carolina Panthers
Idk about coordinators yet. I like Leslie Frazier, Patrick Graham, and Ken Dorsey right now. If we were to land Dorsey or Frazier there is a chance we keep Holcomb/ Wilks. I’m also not opposed to Wink Martindale or do I dare even say it.... Jack Del Rio.
