NFL.com ranks Carolina 2022 draft class as worst in NFC South
Cdparr7 replied to rebelrouser's topic in Carolina Panthers
Can't say I disagree. I believe he will be a solid NFL tackle for years but his ceiling is higher at guard. Corral was taken in the 3rd round of a horrible QB draft class and has serious Will Grier vibes. I think Mays will develop into an above average NFL starter. Jury is still out on McCall and Smith. Technically McCall was an UDFA. -
After doing some comparisons since half the board compares him to Darnold and the other half compares him to Stafford. I put together their first 9 seasons in the NFL. There numbers are very similar. Now I know the Anti-Carr crowd will say "well Carr had Devante Adams and Josh Jacobs" here are a few notable people that Stafford had over that timespan: Calvin Johnson, Maurice Morris, Reggie Bush, Nate Burleson, Eric Ebron, Lance Moore, Anquan Boldin, Marvin Jones, Kenny Golladay, TJ Lang, Graham Glasgow, Laken Tomlinson, Riley Reiff, Larry Warford, and Rob Sims. The comparisons between him and his brother, Sam Darnold, and Baker are quite asinine.

I thought we were talking about one of Rhule’s waitress mistresses

In defense of the other guy, I don’t think he said Carolina was going to sign him. I read it as Carolina’s front office (Fitterer, Drummond, whoever) likes him and they want Reich’s input. I didn’t take it as him declaring Carr to us.

I wonder why you tweet this out unless somebody is hammering you like @TheLeakyFaucetguy said. Still waiting on this TE coach hire he was talking about. Thought it was soon

Yeah I could see that. Been saying there are 10 hands and 4 pieces of pizza.

Richardson is a trap, just about all these QBs are a trap except MAYBE Stroud and Young but I still feel like one of them will be. Richardson has been hyped up way above what his actual level is. Look back at Fields and Jackson, they were criticized for their passing ability yet their college stats and reads are miles above AR. I’m a Gators fan, my whole family is. I have actually watched AR through the good and the bad. I’m telling you guys, he’s not it. Florida’s offense consisted of running the ball John Fox style and having AR throw it over the top. He can NOT make throws when he needs to make throws. The dude is getting hyped up just like Willis because he can run, he has a strong arm but he can’t read routes, and he has horrible ball placement.

The goofiest cornball coach in the NFL?

Let’s revisit in January -
1. Sign Carr/Take BPA 2. Trade for Fields 3. Trade up for Stroud/Young 4. Run it back with Darnold/Corral 5. Trade up for Levis 6. Forfeit the season 7. Smash my balls with a hammer 8. Draft Richardson
-
Or Bruce Arians or Sean McVay.
-
In this situation you go after Carr. He has had a very similar career to Stafford. Our coaching staff is so high powered it will be picked apart the next 2 years by teams poaching for their staffs. So you have to take your shot while the OL and defense is solid. Take BPA in the draft and take your shot like the Rams/Bucs did.

Do you even understand how off seasons work? Do you realize the volume of NFL teams that have QBs under contract and the turnover of such? if I pointed out 16 teams you would be like “well that’s only half the league show me the other half”. You’re thought process is like late 2000s Al Davis with dementia. So Mahomes one the SB this year, before that was Stafford a FA, Brady a FA (who was also a 6th round pick).
-
“Swing when you get the chance” Browns 1st round QBs: Baker Mayfield, Brandon Weeden, Brady Quinn, Tim Couch, Johnny Manzel Jets 1st round QBs: Pennington, Sanchez, Darnold and Wilson Yeah let me get some of that!
-
Exactly that’s why the Jets and Browns are QB powerhouses.
-
I can pull this data but all you’re going to do is poo out some random stat and throw it at the wall to try to make it stick after I wasted 3 hours of my life doing it. We aren’t talking about 45 year old QBs with this team, we are talking about the success rate of not only taking a 1st round QB but trading up for one, which you are wanting to do. The mere argument of compiling all the data of everyone who is not a 1st round QB is pointless. Because the argument here is investing a 1st round pick into a QB not a 4th rounder or signing a veteran. The risk of lost capital is much greater.
-
I disagree. I was against the QBs last year for obvious reasons even though half the board wanted us to take Pickett or Willis in the 1st. I was on the Fields/Jones train the year before and wanted Herbert or Love the year before that. People just want the excitement of drafting a QB high, like having money in their pocket and wanting to buy something so bad they settle for something less and this year is something less, unless you want to sell everything to go get Stroud. And I mean everything. And even with him, People are forgetting that before his Georgia game his stock was falling.
-
And based on the the QB playoff situation about 50/50 for both.
-
About the same as this unless you have a generational QB at the top of the draft.
-
Yeah forgot Lamar.
-
The other 6 playoff teams don’t have QBs in the top 10. You are going nowhere here. Brady, Cousins, Prescott, Hurts, Geno, Purdy/Garoppolo

Yeah I really expect this to end badly for AZ. -
In Dave’s defense, just about everyone in the media leading up to Carr’s release said that there was about zero chance that Carr would be traded A) because he didn’t want to take any draft capital from his next team B) he wanted to test the open market. The Saints probably did a Saints thing and kicked the wheels on Carr before his contract expired just in case or the Raiders just didn’t give a fug if he visited. He also had a no trade clause so you can’t just trade for him. I believe Schefter or Ian said that the Panthers had interest and would likely kick the tires on him “later” because it will be lengthy process. My guess is Reich wanted to get the rest of his Offensive Staff together, mainly Thomas Brown who was hired Friday. If the Panthers make a request for him to visit , it will be this upcoming week.

We have our coaches. What schemes will we run?
Cdparr7 replied to Cam's New Arm's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hard to say for offense but I would bet defense is going to be 3-4 with a 2 high shell like Denver last year. So be prepared for a FS addition that can actually cover and Chinn going to some type of slot role.
