I don’t think it’s a money thing as much as it’s a image thing. I don’t think Tepper wants to look stupid and wants to be patient. I think he would spend twice the money today if he knew it was the right choice and wouldn’t get chastised by every talking head on TV that needs something to talk about in the off season.

You lose a game, then another, then injuries happen, then players don’t pan out, the you feel pressure and you’re in quick sand and you can’t get out. Then more you fight it the deeper you go. Then the players give up on you, don’t respect you. Only play at 75% speed. Then you get fired.

I’m not sure how much of it is guaranteed. He signed a 7 year deal worth 60 million and 10 million in incentives. Also had a 2.5 million signing bonus. So let’s say 30 million is guaranteed. 60 million minus 2.5= 57.5. He will have coached 2 seasons at 8.5 million per season. That is 17 million. 57.5 million minus 17 million is 40 million. So Tepper would have to pay out roughly 10 million. Buts that’s just guessing 30 million is what’s guaranteed.

Same here. I just don’t know if he would keep coaching or retire. I think his departure is inevitable.
