  1. No we are looking at like a 19-6 or 13-3 type game.
  2. Dude I played the game. I was a lineman through high school and college and I never was taught to hit people in the balls. I was different offenses and the closest thing we ever got to that was in high school we ran the flex bone and my 80 year old position coach would tell us to fire off low and put a forearm 3” above the knee cap and drive. We never practiced nut punches between chutes, sleds, and mirror drills.
  3. You can’t base your pass protection off of acting like you’re gonna hit dudes in the balls, this isn’t the longest yard.
  4. Okay this is like 1970s high school veer option logic. Pass Protection in the NFL is kick slide typically. Which is Outside foot- out, inside foot-in to create a pocket. Guy goes inside, you kick slide up, guy goes outside kick slide out. Hands stay close to the breast plate and you punch until he engages. Now depending on your splits, you may have a more aggressive pass block, especially on RPO or play action. Your feet remain square and you attack similar to as you would on a zone run without going up field and firing on the backer. “cut blocking” is frowned upon in the NFL, so is hitting somebody in the balls. Baker’s issue is his height and release. He has shorter arms, and throws side armed fairly often. Our pass protection is better now, so rushers will mirror Baker and knock down the pass. QBs are coached to have a 6x6” release to what is called “zero” this is a 45 degree angle above an outside the shoulder to assist with accuracy and a higher release. Baker’s short arms, shorter height, and throwing motion is to blame. His elbow slot placement is off.
  5. I mean this plus his height and arm length.
  6. It’s called elbow slot drills. The goal is to get the elbow to 45 degrees above the shoulder 6” x 6” above the shoulder. It helps with release and accuracy. Not trying to be a know it all but this is high school stuff.
  7. PJ Walker is 5’11” and doesn’t have that problem. Drew Brees and Russell Wilson didn’t/don’t have that problem. The issue is his throwing motion. He doesn’t get his elbow up high enough on his release and some of his passes come out damn near side armed. It also doesn’t help that the defenders stand there and mirror him to bat them down, they know they can because his release is so low.
  8. My money is on Reich or Allen. Matt isn’t going anywhere until we are eliminated and even then Tepper may keep him til January.
  9. I can’t think of another franchise except maybe the Jaguars where Matt Rhule wouldn’t have been fired already. If this guy would have took the NYG job he wouldn’t have made it past year 1. Imagine if he was in Philly.
  10. People forget how good of a blocker Mangum was. He didn’t get dozens of targets but he caught what was thrown to him.
  11. Not the root cause but our TE room is not good. Tremble is a fullback playing TE. Ricci is a decent blocker that gets open because nobody covers him, and Ian Thomas is well below average. This franchise has usually always done well in the TE group. Walls, Mangum, Olsen, Dickson. I would rather have King, Rosario, or Barnidge than these guys.
  12. It’ll correct itself after tonight. Will probably be the 6.5 range
  13. I anticipated at least a 15-20 ranked offense from him. I did kind of expect it to be bland but Jesus, it’s like water soup.
  14. No Tepper just wants to say he gave Rhule a fair shot. It’s hard to sit at the other side of the table to defend your job when you had 3 years to do it. It also makes other HC candidates feel more comfortable, so they know you aren’t going to yank them out of their office after their first bad game.
  15. Baker and Sam are both career back ups. At this point, I would let Sam finish the season. We are paying him bigger money than Baker, he spent more time in the system, and we can salvage the pick we sent for Baker. Just my opinion.
  16. Dom Capers- 21-15 George Seifert- 16-20 John Fox- 19-17 Ron Rivera- 14-22 Matt Rhule- 11-26 Keep in mind that Ron Rivera started the 2013 season 1-3. Starting with close losses to the Seahawks and Bills, a victory over the Giants and then a pitiful loss to the Cardinals before winning 11 out of the next 12. By no means should you hold your breath for that though, as the 2022 Panthers have shown none of the promising glimpse that the 2013 Panthers did. I anticipate Rhule will be here until playoff elimination.
  17. Sam is a better runner, so there is that.
  18. I think somebody tried to get a go fund me but it didn’t pan out. Somebody else wanted to get a huge ad in the observer. Somebody else wanted to get a billboard on I-85. none of them came to fruition if I remember correctly.
  19. I think people are forgetting about Sam last year. Rewatch one of those 2021 games and come back.
  20. Rhule doesn’t have a bad history this part of the season. I think we win 2-3 of the next 4. Then the collapse comes and we are getting blown out in November/December.
  21. I think they are about the same talent level. Ekwonu has the edge in the run game and Cross has the edge in the pass game.
