NFLPA Exec Director calls out the league over the turf
Cdparr7 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Patrick Mahomes- “I will not play any games on turf, it’s in my contract” Broncos and Chargers- “ We have changed our fields to turf” -
My brother used to say some teams are meant to be QB-less. Look at what happened to Rodgers. He used to swear that if Harrington and Carr went somewhere else they would have been successful. Same way I think Fields would have been better if drafted by somebody else. In some weird universe twist there is a Mahomes that was drafted by the Jets and turned out terrible.

We are probably going to need him at some point this year.
-
Yeah it was set at 20 snap minimum it looks like.

For what it’s worth all WRs are in the 50s except Shenault whose in the mid 60s

Predict: When will the Panthers get their first win?
Cdparr7 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Minnesota. I predict a close loss the next two weeks. But a win against the Vikings and losses until the Texans. -
The only way we get to the playoffs is another teams stadium gets flooded or snowed in and they have to use ours. Which they wouldn’t.

I have faith that Bryce will have an above average to good career. The only thing that concerns me is the durability which remains to be seen. I do NOT have faith that he is going to have the right people around him. But for sake of argument say that by year 3 he is not going to be a franchise QB. It will have put us behind around 5 years. A year for the lost draft capital. 2 years for finding and developing a true number 1 WR, and then probably another 2 years to take a swing at developing another QB out of the draft unless we have a shot at one in FA

What magic can we pull to find a receiver?
Cdparr7 replied to RIPTreyLance's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah his route concepts were garbage. I rewatched parts of the game and I only seen a receiver go deeper than 15 yards 2-3 times. It’s the same mesh routes over and over. On one play in the 3Q he had dig/drag on both sides at the same level and everyone just kinda collided in the middle. -
HEAVENS TO BETSY, LOOK AT THESE WIDE-OPEN RECEIVERS
Cdparr7 replied to Carl Spackler's topic in Carolina Panthers
I compared him to Dewayne Jarrett 2 years ago and got like 15 poos on a post. People here get way to high of expectations on new players here and then act offended when they don’t work out. If you go off of our draft history usually 1 player (maybe 2) become contributing starters, 1 (maybe 2) stick around as depth guys longer than 2 years. The rest get cut or tossed on the PS it’s just fact. Very rarely do you get a draft where you load up on studs. Bryce Young, Jonathan Mingo, DJ Johnson, Chandler Zavala, Jammie Robinson Probably 1 out of will be long term, 1-2 will be on the team longer than a few years the others will drop off. Same thing every draft. My guess Bryce is the long term guy, Mingo and Zavala pan out a few years and either drop off or don’t get resigned and Robinson and Johnson turn out to be duds. -

The odds of Dalton going in for Bryce are so slim without Bryce getting injured though. Those people pining are wasting breath. Does Dalton give us a better chance to win today? Maybe. In a year? No. My fear is losing Bryce to injury at some point this year and Dalton balling out and having to listen to that garbage -
He also only traded away draft assets once. I think the blowback shell shocked him so bad that he decided to never trade anything again.

We don’t have the resources to trade for a guy like Higgins in a season like this. Best you can do is see how these guys develop and/or mix in some guys on the PS or street to see if you can find a gem or improve their skill set. -
What this guy is saying is a lot of it for me as well. I feel that 9/10 times we get poo on during the close calls I’m sure all fans feel that way but I feel like it’s actually a thing with us. Not to be labeled a conspiracy theorist here but I do feel like the NFL can control the outcome of games just by a few simple calls or no calls throughout the game and it always seems to benefit whatever the storyline may be. You don’t need a script just a few holding calls or DPIs to change momentum or call back a big play. What is even more frustrating is the NFL mocks this question now. I seen a commercial today pretending they were “scripting” week 1 to make it seem impossible when it could really be a lot simpler than that. I feel like there is no consequences on refs for bad calls. “Oh we had a call or no call that ended your playoff chances, sorry”

Yeah a season or so after Tepper bought the team is when I started caring less and less. I feel like a lot of the tradition is gone. Tepper has this fascination with making us this air raid team that plays on turf and “out smarts” everyone with cutting edge technology and play calling. When really we have always been more successful when we are aggressive, throw people around and run the ball down your throat. We see a glimpse of that last season with Wilks. Whatever Tepper is trying to turn us into is not in our DNA.

I followed it in 90s closely, kept up with it but didn’t invest myself during the Seifert years. Followed it closely again during the Fox years and drowned out in 2010. Invested myself again heavily until 2019 and quit caring about halfway through the season. Since Rhule I still follow it closely and keep up with everything but I don’t have the same passion that I had during the Fox years or mid Rivera years
-
I’m not giving up on the season or overreacting. But I have been thinking lately what things would have looked like had we beaten Tampa and possibly given Wilks the job. A few things that come to mind: -We would still have Al Holcombe as DC which was pretty hit and miss. -Good chance Darnold got a 1 year deal and doubt we would have traded up for Richardson or Young. Would have probably went after Carr or drafted Levis to go against Darnold. -Think there is a good possibility he would have invested in a run heavy offense similar to what we seen from the Falcons today. -Probably would have kept Foreman. -Would probably still have DJ since no trade took place. We would probably be a mirror image of the Falcons or Titans. I still think we made the right decision but it’s interesting to think how things may have been different.
-
Frank too one randomly before the last falcons TD and then we burned 2 to keep more time on the clock.
-
They are struggling with Tennessee. However, Tampa is winning in Minnesota and Baker has thrown 2 TDs and no picks.
-
Can we please put Ickey at G. He’s not a LT in the spread like I’ve said all offseason.
-
Not to stir the pot but even Matt Rhule put up 30 points in his first game… and lost by 4.
-
I haven’t really seen much less “vanilla” on the offseason like we heard all preseason.
-
For what it’s worth, Frank’s teams do start slow. Probably worse than Rivera.
-
Has probably been coached not to.
