  1. “The plan was for him to have a minor ankle cleanup after the end of the season,” Rapoport said. “What I found out last night was that in June he had a major ankle surgery. It was to repair torn ligaments in his ankle – about a four-month recovery. So what you’re looking at is missing the first several weeks of the season – maybe five, six or seven – if everything goes well.” https://thespun.com/nfl/nfc-south/new-orleans-saints/nfl-insider-shares-details-on-michael-thomas-injury
  2. Week 1 (Home) vs. Jets Week 2 (Home) vs. Saints Week 3 (Away) vs. Texans With some of Saints starpower out for our week 2 matchup, the first 3 weeks will be vital in building Sam's Confidence. We should start this season off 3-0.
  3. The league is moving more into "throw the rookie out there and hope", but mainly due to their situations. Some are forced to draft a QB and play him in hopes of saving their job and/or organization. Not many teams take multiple years to develop a QB. Its a results league. And like its been mentioned (in this thread or maybe another), a lot of these coaches are only getting 3 years with an organization. Some put it together in time, and some don't.
  4. Now as stated, it wouldn't be my choice. It would be based off of Sean Payton's ideals and who he likes more. Like said previously I am keeping the jury out until at least end of training camp/preseason. Just small factors make me believe Hill has some fight as to the QB1 position like contract and getting the call to start games last year over Winston. But if I had to choose the most likely outcome, Winston would replace drew and Hill would continue to be used as he did last year. But stranger things have happened. Its the same reason I choose to be optimistic about Sam.
  5. I think you gotta see it more in the light of who the coach likes more for the future. Who the coach has more confidence in. We, including our coaching staff, saw what Darnold was last year and the year before that. However, they traded for him based off of what they think he could be. They have some confidence in his future. Now I am not saying they have more confidence in Hill over Winston, the jury is still out. But the fact that it is still being given thought makes me think. Maybe Sean Payton already knew who his QB1 was before the competition started. Just wanted the two QB's to bring that competitiveness to practice and show improvement, show what they've learned from sitting behind Drew. I wrote all of that to say, idk lol I think its 50/50 here. Both QB's have areas to improve in. Neither is a franchise QB in my eyes, however I do think Winston is closer to one than Hill.
  6. It's crazy how many therapists we have on this site. Lol can't wait to see ole Darnold go out there and put on a show.
  7. I will be attending our week 1 game. It will either be the beginning of something beautiful or something awful. Will be fun to watch.
  8. I won't believe it until Sean Payton puts it out. I see Wintson as the QB1 and them continuing to use Hill as they have in the past. Maybe throw in a few more plays where they both touch the field. But maybe they are more confident in Hill than some may think. Regardless, lets hope they're still trying to figure it out week 2.
  9. Drew Brees has also commented on the situation saying he sees both QB's touching the field, but sees Hill on the field even more than when he (Drew) was there.
  10. According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, the impending quarterback battle between Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston is “not truly open” in Payton’s eyes. Payton reportedly plans to start Hill regardless, and only switch to Winston if his “experiment” with Hill fails. 11. I think we could try to rollover as much $$$ as we can from this season to next season. This season we sent prove-it contracts to some unproven guys. Next season we'll have more than enough to send contracts to proven guys.
  12. The Carolina Panthers cut it pretty close, but they were able to work out a new long-term contract with their star right tackle Taylor Moton just before the franchise tag deadline. If a deal had not been struck, Moton would have played under the tag and counted $13,754,000 against the cap, the highest amount on the roster. Instead, Moton signed a four-year, $72 million deal, deservedly making him one of the highest-paid tackles in the NFL. The move also saved the Panthers a good chunk of salary cap space for the 2021 season. According to updated figures at Over the Cap, Carolina now has a little over$24 million in cap space – $10 million more than before the Moton deal. While there’s not a whole lot of options left on the market, that’s more than enough to go out and address a couple of the team’s biggest roster hole before the games begin. Signing a proven left tackle and a free safety should be at the top of the list. Link: https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2021/07/18/how-much-cap-space-do-the-panthers-have-after-taylor-motons-megadeal/ With saving approx. $10 million and putting us at about $24 million in current cap for this season, who do you think the Panthers will try to bring in if anyone? I've seen articles suggesting a LB (Vander from cowboys, would be a trade situation I believe), CB (already brought in veteran FA clinton dix), and S (suggestions from articles included FA hooker & vaccaro).
  13. People are probably gonna poo all throughout this thread, but if i took that question seriously... There's no way the Panthers bring Cam back for anything other than retirement. We are a young team and have a FO looking for a QB of the future. If Sam doesn't work I see draft as the only option.
  14. Sam throwing to Giants Pettis https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2021/07/14/panthers-sam-darnold-throws-with-giants-dante-pettis/ Cant get the twitter video to post in here, but this is the link to watch
  15. Or... (Could be highly unlikely but) they beat out the starters based off talent. Maybe by they end of the season they get more comfortable at the next level and have given the coaches reason to believe they can start. Unlikely that all three probably do that and it is a wishful way of thinking. Just gotta look at all possible outcomes. Even if one is more likely than another. Edit: adding to what you said. hopefully, injuries doesn't hurt this group
  16. Won't lie... When we drafted DJ Moore I almost put a hole in my TV. I definitely preferred Calvin Ridley. But glad I was wrong and glad to have another reason why I am not an NFL analyst.

  18. I think what we did was the right move. We needed depth and multiple players to improve the roster and fill holes. I think the splash moves will come next year. May only be one or two, but may be all we need. We have several players that have all the tools needed to make a jump this year.
