I think this is the Defense's team. Darnold has played great without everything being on him. Our defense has won games and he has been great at just playing steady and not trying to be a hero like in NY. Not saying that if it's all on him he would revert back to that, but the plan in place has been working. Defense wins the game. Darnold doesn't turn the ball over to lose us the game.

Maann, I might have to rewatch the game just to see Steve's reactions at this point haha
-
Damn... I definitely didn't catch that. Steve keeps it real lol that's for sure.

So do we play AJ in Horn's spot or pick up a FA to possibly take that spot and continue with the plan of inserting AJ into the nickel spot? Still some guys like Sherman and Dunbar out there. Just want to see what you guys think the most likely course of action is.

The article includes 100x facts related to the Panthers/Texans matchup. Includes facts about players on both sides. In this thread I am specifically highlighting Sam Darnold. But if you click the link they include facts about rookie QB Davis Mills and much more. Has some interesting facts. Or Matt Rhule benching him... lol

Daley’s clearly running out of chances to make his presence felt, with his 47.9 grade from Pro Football Focus through two games another damning indictment of his overall performance.

This Article is from a Saints page... just FYI Link: https://www.canalstreetchronicles.com/2021/9/21/22684609/new-orleans-saints-carolina-panthers-final-score-five-numbers-to-know-nfl-jameis-winston-nfc-south 64 - Would Brady have fared better? Jameis Winston looked abysmal on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. The Saints’ quarterback completed 11 passes out of 22 attempts, for a measly 111 yards, no touchdowns and (gasp!) two interceptions. A little-known number that not many people will focus on his the fact that of his 28 dropbacks during the game, Winston was pressured 18 times. An unconscionable 64% pressure rate, which was also the highest of Winston’s entire NFL career. So while Jameis wasn’t great on Sunday, the offensive line did him exactly zero favors and should shoulder a big part of the blame for the Saints’ dismal offensive performance against the Panthers. 10 - All Good Things... With the loss to Carolina on Sunday, the Saints saw a 10-game division games winning-streak snapped. New Orleans had not lost an NFC South game since a 26-9 defeat (cue the eerily familiar score) at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons on week 10 of the 2019 season. Following that game, New Orleans won its remaining four division games of the 2019 season, then swept the NFC South in the regular season in 2020-21. It had to end at some point. The Saints now have the opportunity to start another winning-streak in the division. 6 - Do Not Adjust Your Screen Settings In the entire game against the 1985 Chicago Bears 2021 Carolina Panthers on Sunday, the New Orleans Saints had six first downs. You read that right: 6! Oh and one of them was via penalty, so on the field of play, the Saints had a whopping five first downs. The whole game! I’m not sure that I really need to add anything here. 0.6 - I Repeat, Do Not Adjust Your Screen Settings Alvin Kamara is one of the best running backs in the NFL. On Sunday in Charlotte, the Saints’ back averaged 0.6 yards-per-rush. Eight rushing attempts, for 5 yards. Oh and on his longest run of the day (which was a whole 5 yards) he nonchalantly went out of bounds instead of fighting to go north and get the lone yard he was missing to get a first down. Talk about a bad day at the office all around for New Orleans on Sunday. 60 - Welcome to Gillikin Island Alright, something positive to end this gloomy piece. Can you tell that I am falling in love with new Saints punter Blake Gillikin? Well, from the stink of the poop-fest that was the Saints’ play on Sunday at Carolina, emerged the very pleasant perfume of Blake Gillikin’s punting performance. The pinnacle of it came with 5:20 left in the first quarter, as the Saints had just recorded the first of their several three-and-outs. With the ball at New Orleans’ 16-yard line and Gillikin’s heels near his own one-yard line, the punter unleashed a booming 60-yard kick that made punt returner Alex Erickson retreat to his 24-yard line, before a short return to the Panthers’ 34-yard line. If you’re doing the math at home, from where Gillikin stood when he punted, the ball traveled about 75 yards in the air. A leg this strong means that punting is going to remain a weapon for the Saints for years to come. See, the sky is not falling yet.

I fully expect our defense to remain Top 5. As for offense, If we can clean up those one to two bone-headed classic Darnold plays I think offense can stay top 10... of course thats if the team continues on its current path of cleaning up mistakes and growing chemistry. Oh and of course our fantastic trainers and medical team, can't forget them!

Link: https://www.numberfire.com/nfl/news/39982/nfl-week-3-power-rankings-which-teams-are-separating-from-the-pack Using our nERD metric, which indicates the expected point differential against an average opponent on a neutral field, here is how our model ranks and rates all 32 teams after two weeks of games. Team Record nERD nERD Rank Rank Change xWins Next 3 49ers 2-0 3.70 5 1 1.8 Panthers 2-0 3.80 4 11 1.8 Buccaneers 2-0 5.42 3 2 1.8 Bills 1-1 5.88 2 6 2.1 Rams 2-0 6.80 1 1 1.9 The Carolina Panthers are easily the most surprising team in the top five, four of which are from the NFC. Carolina's second straight win, this one over the New Orleans Saints (last week's top-ranked team), helped them surge from a 0.47 nERD and a 15th-place ranking to a 3.80 nERD and a 4th-place ranking. Sam Darnold is running a top-10 offense by our NEP metrics, but it's their defense that leads in success rate allowed. The Rams were the obvious choice for the top slot after the Saints were pummeled in Week 2. The Rams' offense is sixth in success rate, yet their defense is bottom 10 thus far. It's something to keep an eye on, but it's impossible to argue with the results through two games.

Fully understand. But if anyone is supposed to do this, or i guess should do this.. its the fans. I mean I fully understand the reason for not doing it. Especially with our history. But man if you heard the fans in that stadium. We do help in some way or fashion. It especially has to feel good for Darnold to get some love like this. But again I agree with you lol
-
As fans this is something we should do when winning, especially with all the question marks we had (at QB, at OL, at CB, at LB, at S) The team worked hard. The coaches worked hard. Darnold worked hard. They will continue to work hard. Great win for the team. Hopefully Darnold will continue to grow before our very eyes. Love to see it. No one is screaming super bowl, but it feels good to know that things are looking up. We expected to see a strong start to the season. Let's hope we can keep it up.

Thoughts on Elflein, our O-line, the jets and the aints.
CarolinaLivin replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good post. I think whichever team can stop the others running back the most wins. Kamara helped Winston a lot in week 1 by him only needing to throw 20 passes. If we can get that number to 30, 40 we will definitely have multiple opportunities to create turnovers. But maybe the same can be said if CMC is stopped and/or limited by the opposing defense. This game will be muchhh better to kind of evaluate where we are as a team. -
Pass Block Win Rate through week 1 (ESPN)
CarolinaLivin replied to SgtJoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean they probably win the pass-block at around 2.5 seconds, but likely won't get a sack until (likely between) 3-4 seconds. So the play is designed to get the ball out quickly but doesn't mean your receivers will always be open that fast which led to a lot of quick check-downs and screen plays. I think its a loss for us cause it leads to 7234667 check downs to CMC and we need to limit the amount of hits this man takes on a weekly basis
