So what is your draft strategy after today?
CarolinaLivin replied to Panthero's topic in Carolina Panthers
I just don't see it happening, personally. Teams fill gaps in FA to line up BPA in draft, that was a known thing prior to the signings. I don't see them pivoting post-signings. Though, I know some wanted Warren even before FA started. I just don't see Warren as BPA at 8 for the Panthers and I could be very wrong here. All speculation of course because how would i know for a fact who is where on Panthers board. -
At the NFL combine in February, Colts general manager Chris Ballard said the team would be bringing a QB in and that QB would have a chance to compete for the starting job. "It's gotta be the right guy to create real competition," Ballard said. "But we want to create real competition. I think it's good for the team, I think it's good for Anthony." This appears to mean that Jones will have a legitimate chance to win Indy's starting QB job over Anthony Richardson.

I would have also chosen Vikings if I were D Jones. You have to know going to indy that this is a "QB competition". It's not a real competition as they want AR to work out. Worst case scenario for the Colts is he beats AR for QB1. Plus do you think the staff in indy is on the hot seat? Its a 1-yr deal sure but im not sure I would hitch my wagon on that staff.

Who will be the Colts' starting quarterback in Week 1? Anthony Richardson Daniel Jones

Former Vikings QB Daniel Jones is finalizing a one-year, $14 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts, per sources. Jones had a chance to return to Minnesota, but now becomes the challenger to the Colts’ former first-round pick Anthony Richardson.

Dolphins are re-signing linebacker Quinton Bell to a one-year, $1.5 million deal. Deal negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln.

The 49ers 2025 roster is going to look a lot different than it did in 2024. Not only have the 49ers already lost six players in free agency, but Kyle Juszczyk and Javon Hargrave are expected to be cut before the new league begins on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET. Here's a look at the list of players that definitely won't be returning to San Francisco this year: WR Deebo Samuel: Traded to WSH LB Dre Greenlaw: Signs with Broncos S Talanoa Hufanga: Signs with Broncos CB Charvarius Ward: Signs with Colts G Aaron Banks: Signs with Packers OT Jaylon Moore: Signs with Chiefs RB Elijah Mitchell: Signs with Chiefs FB Kyle Juszczyk: Expected to be released DT Javon Hargrave: Expected to be released DT Maliek Collins: Expected to be released

CJ Stroud got sacked 58 times last season, which was the second-most in the NFL, and the Texans have now traded away Green and Tunsil, who were arguably their two best linemen. At the rate things are going, Stroud might get sacked 100 times in 2025. With the Eagles acquiring Green, that likely means Mekhi Becton won't be returning to Philadelphia.

The Texans are trading for Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson in exchange for left guard Kenyon Green, sources tell ESPN. The deal also includes a pick swap with the Eagles getting a 2026 fifth-round pick and the Texans getting a 2026 sixth-rounder. Gardner-Johnson is a known ball hawk, who had six interceptions in 2024 and 2022 for the Eagles in separate stints. The Texans lost their starting safety Eric Murray to the Jacksonville Jaguars on a three-year, $22.5 million deal in free agency, so they'll use Gardner-Johnson to fill that void.

Former Jets DT Solomon Thomas reached agreement today on a two-year deal with a max value of $8 million with the Dallas Cowboys, per source. Dallas is home for Thomas, and now he gets to go back.

After 1 day of FA, do you feel better about the defense?
CarolinaLivin replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
We were one of the worst defenses in NFL history... so yes I would say any additions we could've/would've/did make/made us better. How much better? We will find out. -
It's been a quiet 24 hours for the Cowboys and that's apparently because, they don't like spending money in free agency. The Cowboys have not signed a free agent over $6M per year in free agency since Greg Hardy in 2015. The salary cap has increased by $135,920,00 million since then.

The Daniel Jones situation remains a choice between the Vikings and Colts. At this moment, they are both awaiting his decision.

Vikings closing in on deal with two-time Pro Bowler We might need to start a separate live blog where we only break down Vikings' free agency moves, because they are busy this morning. On top of adding Jonathan Allen and Will Fries, the team is also closing in on a deal with Javon Hargarve, NFL Media reports. Hargrave is expected to be released by the 49ers on Wednesday and when that happens, he'll likely be signing with the Vikings. He'll be joining Jonathan Allen on a suddenly loaded defensive line. The only knock on Hargraves is that he's 32 and coming off a season where he missed 14 games due to a partially torn right triceps.

Bengals are re-signing cornerback Marco Wilson to a one-year, $1.52 million deal. Deal negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.
-
Chuma Edoga's deal with Jacksonville is two years, $7 million, including $3.2 million guaranteed, per source.

Dolphins are re-signing defensive back Elijah Campbell to a one-year, $1.9 million deal. Deal negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus and Shawn O’Dare.

Former #Falcons S Richie Grant on his way to the San Francisco 49ers, per @JFowlerESPN.
-
Guard Will Fries is headed to the #Vikings for five years and $88 million, sources told ESPN. One of the top interior linemen on the market is now off the board.

Honestly hope we don't sign a RB. I get you want to plug holes and/or allow yourself to go BPA in draft, but i would rather address in draft 1x late round, 1x UDFA
-
I also think Geno. He'll have a slightly better OL in LV and kinda a better offensive system for him this year vs. last.
-
Which QB will have the better 2025 season? Sam Darnold in Seattle Geno Smith in Las Vegas Justin Fields in New York
-
Linebacker Divine Deablo has agreed to terms with the #Falcons, per his agency @_SportsTrust

The Giants filled a major need on Tuesday morning and did so with a really good player. NFL Media is reporting they are signing Dolphins safety Jevon Holland to a 3-year, $45M deal with $30.3 million in guarantees. Really nice move for New York.

Former Lions third-round pick Ifeatu Melifonwu reached agreement on a one-year $4 million contract with the Miami Dolphins. Deal negotiated by Sean Stellato of Stellato Sports.
