  1. It doesn't take a genius to understand they're trading him because he told them he's not going to play for them anymore and is currently eating up 15-20% of their total cap space.
  2. You have to laugh at people talking about "gutting" the roster when we're talking about 4-5 picks and 2 players, one of whom (Burns) is due for a big raise. Of the three firsts, you have to figure at least one would be spent on a QB in the next three drafts anyways. So we're talking about a difference of probably 5-6 players. GUTTED.
  3. It was just the opposite, actually. Was not happy they traded Nuk Hopkins, but they talked him off the ledge. Then the next offseason Easterby/Caserio went and hired a HC without consulting him after the McNairs had promised Watson he’d have a say before any more big moves were made. Amazing the number of casual NFL fans who are so confidently wrong about so many things.
  4. Good point. We’re much better off with Rhule than with Riverboat Ron. lol
  5. Do you read English? I said the bust rate on QBs in the first round is about 50%. This has been analyzed over and over by a number of different people. Google it. Maybe one is written in a way you can understand it, but can’t say for sure.
  6. Take any decade, and the bust rate on first round QBs is about 50%. Even assuming you get in position to draft a guy you like, there’s about a 50% chance he’s going to end up useless. This ain’t Madden.
  7. No it wouldn’t, because Watson is a guaranteed franchise QB. No draft pick will ever be nearly as sure as getting a guy in his prime that has put up elite seasons.
  8. Yeah you just pick one and they’re instantly good man! No busts ever! Going to laugh so hard when we light the 6th overall pick on fire this year for a shitty QB and then have to draft another one for a new regime while all the morons screamed about how we were offering too much for Watson.
  9. Yep. I think this is over for Carolina. Possible a dark horse butts New Orleans out, but I think the Panthers are basically eliminated.
  10. They cannot move what has already been prorated. He only has $1M in salary left for this season. It’s a literal impossibility to trade him unless the trade isn’t finalized until 6/1, which isn’t going to happen because it would fug up free agency and the draft for Hou and NO both.
  11. Like the guy saying Ramczyk would be involved. Stupid. It’s an impossibility. Saints would eat an instant $34M penalty by virtue of his restructure.
  12. Rhule's not getting fired this year. It's likely a "give it a year and if it doesn't work out, we'll let you have significant input on the next guy." It's really late in the off-season to try to pull off a coaching change for any non-emergency issue.
  13. Not unless franchise QBs start regularly going on the trade block in their prime - which they won't. This is a once in a generation opportunity.
  14. Why? He's the owner. He could let his pet monkey make the coaching choice if he wanted to. If he wants to let a franchise QB have a say, then what's the big deal?
  15. Well, the first hurdle is getting the Texans' permission to meet with him. And I don't think that would happen unless there was a realistic framework they were willing to accept. The bigger question is probably whether the Saints can sell Watson sufficiently on their cap situation and coaching staff. Tepper's going to tell him Rhule's gone after this year if Watson wants him gone. Will the Saints be willing to do the same And beyond that, if the Saints can get $35M open by Wednesday, can they sell Watson on the future? They can restructure him, but they'll have to kick down the road whatever they convert to signing bonus out of that.
  16. Watson has a $35M cap hit that travels this year. The remaining $5M from his signing bonus stays with the Texans. Darnold’s entire approximately $19M cap hit would travel.
  17. So we have a “terrible owner and worse coaching staff,” but we’re going to have the “last laugh” after we lose a franchise QB to a divisional rival lol, okay…
  18. I think that was the purpose of roping in New Orleans in the first place, but why bother letting it go so far as to let him meet with them just to tell him that their deal was a no go? Seems really unlikely to me.
  19. I’ll be honest, I doubt Texans would let him meet with the Saints if they weren’t okay with whatever they could offer. Why bother? It will be worse than what Carolina will offer, but it will still be a ransom.
  20. There is absolutely no way this strings out until draft day. Would be a disaster for all parties involved.
  21. That’s a joke. It’s in response to the Brady news. Not an actual thing.
