  1. Wrong. This will be done by Wednesday when FA officially opens.
  2. He's probably going to get like $5M guaranteed, and the Panthers will be able to cut him at minimal cost next year if he's not any good. It's a decent deal for a solid starter who can eat snaps on the back-end.
  3. It's about keeping the negotiating pressure on Carolina and New Orleans. Like the famed "mystery team" in MLB free agency.
  4. Appears to be a former NFL Scout. Who knows if he's tapped in enough to know anything.
  5. This is not totally accurate. Rams worked him a bunch at center this offseason.
  6. Really nice signing. Average to above average starter. Still young. Can play C as well.
  7. lol what? you think a signing that will probably cost $3M in year one cap hit is going to take Carolina out? It really is amazing the ignorance of the average fan.
  8. No one is arguing against that. It’s more a question of whether it’s worth a $40M contract on day one when you can get solid guards for about 1/8 of that commitment.
  9. I also wonder if that info is old. When did he “hear” it? When Miami was in it during the season? Recently?
  10. Sigh…maybe the average fan will get it one day, but I doubt it
  11. It's a shame people do not understand how teams can lower a cap hit year-to-year by restructuring big cap numbers every offseason.
  12. The dead cap is not bad on a trade. It's only bad on a cut because his salary is guaranteed this year. Trade cap hit would only add about $4.2M to the Panthers cap commitments this season. (About $12.8M in dead - $8.6M in outgoing money).
  13. Glad to see someone other than Carolina pay him that much money.
  14. This is why the Saints are in deep trouble if this does not resolve by Wednesday. Armstead is likely to have several massive offers and will not sit on them for long.
  15. I don't know that Watson will sign an instant extension, but he almost surely restructures wherever he ends up. It only benefits him and the team. I'd expect to see about $25M converted to a bonus where he goes, spreading it across the remaining four years at around $6-7M per year. Would open up about $15-18M.
  16. lol so he's going to waste his time meeting with a team that he doesn't want to play for? okay
  17. I sorta think it dragging helps Carolina. What is Carolina going to do day one of FA that appreciably changes the team's fortunes? Saints have to know pretty quickly what to do with their cap. They can make room for Watson right now, but their path to doing so is pretty narrow, and that might not be true for long.
  18. So when Tom Brady tore his ACL in week one of 2008, did you assume he wasn't a top 5 QB going into 2009 because he hadn't played in a year?
