  1. Or instead of doing something bad like that, keep maintaining a surplus year over year so that you have more control over your board and the draft in general. It doesn’t have to be hard. Teams like New England and Baltimore have been doing this for 15 years. Enjoy having a GM with a clue for once.
  2. Not how it works. It isn’t about the depth of the class. It’s a calculation of present value v. future value. That’s all.
  3. hahahaha I love it because it’s smart AND it pisses off the masses so badly. The people who get pissed about Marty only drafting two good players per year are the same ones who don’t get that more lottery tickets = more likelihood of draft success
  4. It’s just a calculation of present value. A current pick this year is worth roughly the equivalent of a round better than next year, is pick 64 this year is worth roughly a late first or early second next year. It’s like having someone hand you $20 today is worth more than a promise to accept that $20 a year from now.
  5. I do too. I am curious how much it factors into the process.
  6. The picks make it obvious the Panthers are leaning on this information. I wonder if there is actual correlation to NFL success? This is the first year I have seen this RAS discussed regularly.
  7. Marshall is a versatile receiver that has proven himself both from the slot and out wide while attacking all levels of the field with consistency. He offers terrific size, physicality, hands, ball skills, run after catch ability, route-running skills, and overall technical-refinement. Marshall did miss three games in 2019 with a foot injury, had some minor drop issues creep up in 2020, and has some inconsistent moments as a blocker, but there isn’t much in the way of notable concerns as he enters the next level. Marshall has the potential to become a productive piece of an NFL offense that can produce in a variety of ways. Look, I can find a blogstar that agrees with me too!
  8. But he's a blocking H-Back! I can't believe Carolina didn't take my favorite D3 OL instead! Idiots!
  9. lack of athleticism? lmao which blog did you read that on? Man there is risk with every pick. Marshall is 20 years old, an excellent route runner, and a smooth athlete for his size. The injuries are the only reason he went at 59 instead of 29. He was a perfect pick where we took him.
  10. Fans like trades up because they get obsessed with names, but teams shouldn’t get obsessed with names. Good teams trade up very sparingly. The trades down were masterful. No one would have had a problem with Terrace Marshall’s value at 39. To get him at 59 with two moves down was A+ value, and then Carolina fleeced the Texans too to top it off.
  11. Oh no, not the media AND the fans! Passing on Fields was the correct move. He was never as highly regarded by the NFL as he was by the fanboys and media. I think he has a reasonable chance of being a good starter, but he's pretty obviously not the slam dunk franchise QB that the media and casual fan thinks he is. He wasn’t worth blowing another asset on a QB before Darnold steps on the field here.
  12. You're making up a narrative that doesn't exist.
  13. lol The Senior Bowl is a valuable tool for teams, but not especially so. The Combine drills are mostly useless unless a guy looks really bad. If that stuff was definitive, the teams wouldn't waste their time watching actual game tape. Neither of those things comes close to exceeding the value of how a player looks in a real game.
  14. Struck a nerve on that one? I watched several Notre Dame games this year. Honestly I would like to see a guy on day 2 show more passing game prowess, but the tools are there. Not my favorite pick, but I am definitely not going to meltdown over failing to take some D3 interior lineman over Tremble because I watched 15 minutes of him on Youtube.
  15. Of course they wouldn't have traded up if they didn't think Little was good. They were clearly wrong. There was no way they were going to try to replace the guys they just signed to multi-year deals before they ever took a snap for the team. It makes no sense. It's just as silly as all these people that were hoping for a QB after the Darnold trade. Was never, ever going to happen.
  16. Ah yes, I'm sure you studied Youtube very hard! Amateur Mel Kiper!
  17. Yes, I read the practice reports. Looking good is better than looking bad, but it doesn't mean much in an exhibition game and the practices leading up to it.
  18. What? I said part-time TE, which is really the worst case scenario. As for Meinerz, that's counting on a lot for a guy to push for a starting job making a huge leap from D3 to the NFL. Maybe he pans out. He's definitely not worth getting upset over.
  19. The problem is that your expectation is unrealistic. Obviously they are committed to giving Erving and Elflein chances to be contributors. They wouldn't have bothered giving them multi-year contracts if that wasn't the case. I won't be surprised if they take another OL, probably in the 6th, but loading three guys in the 3rd was never, ever going to happen. Nor should it.
  20. How much does a backup center play compared to a part-time TE?
  21. Now people getting lathered up over a D3 guy they've probably never seen play a real game, lol
  22. Are you so certain that Dan Arnold is a legitimate full-time starter? I think Tremble has a ways to go, but I think it's worthwhile to gamble on the upside. It is clear the personnel guys don't think OL is a dire need. Christiansen, Erving, Daley, Elflein, Miller, Moton, Scott. That's 7 guys that are really likely to make the roster for 5 starting spots. How many more are they going to realistically add? Who was going to be a sure starter over the best 5 of those 7 in the 80s?
  23. Love when people get triggered and start listing off guys they read on an internet blog and swear they're better players
  24. There was a 0.0% chance they'd take three OLs within 15 picks. Or that any team would do that.
  25. It's pretty obvious they are satisfied with what they have on the OL for now. Might add a guy on the interior to compete late.
