  1. Oh right, she should definitely take the ridiculous onslaught of media heat for exercising prosecutorial discretion on this case. The public lynch mob, as you're proving, doesn't care about facts or what's right. They can only tolerate the result they want to see. I don't blame her one bit for using the grand jury as a cop out. Any non-stupid person would have done the same exact thing in her situation.
  2. Carolina will not outbid Seattle, but I am still skeptical Seattle is interested. I think it's agents/Texans trying to drum up a market. There are not many chairs left at this game of musical chairs after the QB trades this week.
  3. Crazy thought, but what if the prosecutor knew it was a waste of time and resources to pursue prosecution in a case where she knew she couldn't prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt?
  4. Hahahahaha. Not even probable cause to indict. Drama much?
  5. Free Deshaun! Boy, a lot of you look really stupid.
  6. The franchise goes as the franchise QB goes, when you have one. Watson or not, it would be a huge mistake not to involve the QB in the process. In fact, that's exactly why Watson got upset with the Texans. Your approach is not grounded in reason or reality.
  7. Tepper needs a one-on-one with Watson before this happens. Tell Watson to give Rhule a year and if it doesn't work out, Tepper will hire Watson's guy. Bieniemy, Flores, whoever. That's the only way it works.
  8. Wilson is not more valuable. Laughable. And why are you "only retaining them both for 3-4 years?" How many good QBs truly hit free agency in their prime? Cousins is the only one that immediately comes to mind in the last 20 years.
  9. But you do understand they have to clear a significant amount of cap just to meet their league obligations, right? It does not necessarily portend a big move - they MUST clear at least that much space in the next week just to get to $0. This does not include the money they'll need for their draft class, likely $8-10M. They always manage to make cap moves, but they are in an even tighter than usual spot this year. It might well be the year that they just let it ride and try to catch their breath on the cap.
  10. The reason is they're still $24M OVER the salary cap and have to be under by the start of the league year on March 16.
  11. The one where Russell Wilson is turning 34 this year. He's a small guy dependent on mobility. Strong chance that trade is a huge bust for Denver. Not that there isn't obvious risk with Watson, but I'd sure rather be hitching my wagon to a 26-year old franchise QB than one who is 33-34.
  12. Kap was a fringe starter/good backup once defenses figured him out. He's not worth the distraction of hiring a known racist.
  13. I bet Carolina also has the framework on a deal to dump Robby Anderson for a 6th/7th as well should a Watson trade come to fruition.
  14. Add 2-3 young players, then you're talking. But I think it may take flipping CMC to a third team to facilitate, likely Buffalo.
  15. It was just one example. No clue if they're interested. I would not be inclined to give him a mega deal, but they might do it.
  16. If the argument is that you don't trust this staff to evaluate the correct targets, that's a different question. And the track record is bad. But there will be numerous quality starters available to Carolina on 1-2 year deals for an affordable price if they pick the right guys.
  17. Your argument was that no one good would want to come here, so no I'm not. I'm showing you that there are a lot of quality players that sign short-term, low guarantee deals that have to be primarily motivated to make a roster. You just have a very surface-level understanding of how free agency and contracts work, apparently.
  18. Don't be intentionally dull. I was using the examples he gave. Your point, to the extent you have one, is bad, not thoughtful, and lazy.
  19. This is not reality. According to Spotrac data, 618 guys signed free agent contract last off-season. 524 of those deals were of the one-year variety. Another 55 were two year deals. So 93% of contracts were what I would consider "short-term." So really only about 7% of guys fit in our "make a lot of money camp." I do not think the remaining 93% are "second tier or role players at best, camp fodder at worst." Actually, there are a lot of reasonable deals to be had for starters in this range. Using the Bengals as an example, they signed 4 starters (and a number of other contributors) to one-year deals for a team that was coming off of a bad year and went to the Super Bowl
  20. Because even if those teams are better options, they're not signing more than two vets in free agency. That's four guys total. There will be more than four decent OLs. And that presupposes we're on the same type of players. Even at the top of the market, Carolina would surely be interested in someone like Armstead, but would Cincinnati? Their needs are really more on the interior. They'd have to bump a good young LT to LG or RT to sign him, which works in Madden, but doesn't always work in real life. This fantasy that Carolina is some utterly unattractive destination that no veteran is going to touch with a ten-foot pole in free agency is not grounded in any sort of reality.
  21. Believe it or not, the bulk of players do not make it very far into even multi-year deals. Here's a good study: https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2019/3/15/18266458/free-agent-contracts-guaranteed-money-how-long-do-deals-last You are really overrating how much perceived stability matters other than to potentially the very upper-crust of free agency. Of guys who sign two-year deals, more than 54% never even see that second year. NFL Free Agency is primarily about identifying opportunity to make a roster.
  22. What you're failing to understand or acknowledge is that most NFL FA deals are short-term deals with little guaranteed money. Making the roster is what counts to actually collect on your contract. Carolina will have an open competitions at 4/5 OL positions as it stands now. Those players are not going to give a poo about "stability" if they're only on a one or two year deal.
  23. They will have positive feelings about getting paid millions of dollars. This isn't the NBA. Vets, especially average vets unlikely to get more than a 1/2 year deal, are taking the best combination of money/opportunity they can get on the market more often than not. And there is plenty of opportunity on the Carolina OL to come in and win a starting job.
  24. Would be a shame for Carolina, but I'll wait to see it from someone with a little more credibility
