There’s already line not too far away and most folks who work in uptown live East and South, not North.  So who are they going to commute to Uptown?  It will likely be another fail just most other things city planners do.

Not too far away? Try getting to Lake Norman from the Blue line and see how well that goes. You should look at a map of the proposed routes. While they both technically go north, they’re serving very different corridors.

Nobody comes from the Lake Norman area to uptown? Have you seen 77 at rush hour? Lol.

  2. This line is going to be a commuter rail line, not a light rail line. This line will have basically have only one goal, which is to bring people into uptown from the suburbs to the north, and send them back to the burbs at the end of the day. I think every station will have a park-and-ride lot, intended to incentivize commuters to not drive their vehicle all the way into uptown. This will ideally lead to cars making shorter trips, less cars on the road, and a less congested uptown. While I believe that in an ideal world, there would not be a need for a car at any point in a trip, this is a good step for a city building out its public transportation.

Also, I don't understand the disdain for this being funded by taxes. This is the type of project that taxes should pay for, and unless it's being privately funded by a corporation (a terrible idea for transit), then it has to be taxpayer funded.

    No cause for alarm yet.

But a lot of folks called me a hater for questioning how well Williams would translate to the NFL. He holds the ball forever and has way too much of a tendency to try to turn every play into a scramble drill. He doesn't play well within structure.

If he can evolve he has all the tools to be great. But if he doesn't evolve he's going to be a massive bust. The USC version of Caleb Williams is a bust. You have to draft him with the plan of rebuilding him. Drafting him and immediately announcing him as your savior and unquestioned day one starter isn't off to a good start. You're just feeding the ego that's already concerning and not letting this kid know that there's a LOT of work lying ahead.

I've already heard more than once that it's possible, even probable, that he will break the Bears' passing yards record in his rookie year. Granted they've never had a 4,000 yard passer but still.

Your point is correct, but as we stand here today he would still be the best end on our roster.   So to me losing what we did, and not really having a good d last year,  would indicate for now that the defense probably will struggle.

Fair enough. I guess we'll just have to hope Clowney reproduces his stats from last year, however likely that is.

I think you can not of wanted to pay Burns…and still acknowledge he was elite at one specific thing.  Which we don’t have right now on the roster.

Idk, I saw him get taken out by TEs and overrun the QB without touching him enough to question if he's deserving of being called an elite pass rusher.

Yes he is tough, i will give him credit for that but just from a performance stance we are nowhere close to knowing if he is the long term answer and i really want to avoid a Daniel Jones situation or sturggling qb getting paid just cause a teams back is against the wall.

The optimist in me wants to believe that Canales will see enough this year to either warrant committing to Bryce moving forward or cut bait and draft a QB in the 1st next year. But who knows.

As of right now i have the stance that i dont want Bryce to get injured because if he is not on the field for any reason other than he was just that bad then we will have to do this whole process over again next year. Before you know it we will be in year 4 and thats when you are talking about contract extension and 5th year option and i will be DAMNED if i support this team if they tie up 40% of the cap to pay this guy and he hasnt proved worth it.

Yeah that's my exact fear lol. He needs to be on the field this year so we can have definitive proof of whether or not he's got the goods. Luckily, he proved himself to be a tough lil SOB last year.

I think you and some others have a pretty clear inferiority complex over Bryce Young. People did the same thing with Kyle Allen and Teddy Bridgewater.

If that's your path that's cool. Won't make him a better QB any more than the criticism that you rail against will. None of us are better than the other. We're just spectators. But your objections don't change the reality at hand regarding how bad he played last season. Most people want to see improvement and to see him emerge worthy of the first overall selection.

I think you have a misunderstanding of my position. It doesn't bother me at all to say Bryce played like dogshit last season, because it's true. However, I am willing to let this season play out before I'm ready to say that he can't make it in the NFL. I agree with your take that we'll know better after the first couple of preseason games what we're in for this season.

My response was just in amusement at how you came in here holier than thou about others derailing threads by dunking on others' QB opinions, when you're pretty well known for taking exception to any opinion on Bryce that offers any optimism at all.

The last few pages of this thread are why we can't even have convos about the QB. The first day of basic OTA's in May and some people are already trying to dunk on others over anything.

How about we save that for if and when our offense (Bryce included) actually looks formidable in the preseason.

Far be it from you to dunk on others regarding their opinion of our QB lmao.

Sorry dude I don't do the blind faith thing on here that so many do.   We have 16 games now to judge him on.   If he turns it around great.   I'll eat crow if not I won't be like you guys and roll out the excuses........again.

It's not blind faith...it's just supporting the team you supposedly like. It doesn't matter if the QB balls out or sucks ass, I'm gonna root for them to do well, you know, because I'm a fan of the team. It's really not that deep man.

Shouldn't you also be a Bryce supporter? You are a Panthers fan right?
