Who are the Panther's 5 potential Trade partners?
SmartyHurney4 replied to Panthers Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
I feel like Denver, even though they're just a spot back, would be the most likely. I don't feel the front office will trade back too far, and risk missing on a prospect they covet in an offseason this important. It's Fitt's first off-season, and Rhule's second, and both know they need to hit on this pick. -
Apparently these were almost our uniforms

90's fashion is largely back in style, so maybe this is what Tepper will choose when the time comes. -
It's looking like Pitts and an outside shot of Lance.

Riot report breakdown how generational is Sewell
SmartyHurney4 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
100% Talented left tackles usually go top 5, quite often with the first or second pick depending on how many elite QB/DE prospects there are. It's easily the 3rd or arguably 2nd most important position that teams want to solidify. -
With the draft approaching I have one question.
SmartyHurney4 replied to Catsfan69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fairly low considering it's a top 10 pick, and there's a lot of rumors of trades. Maybe nearly 0% chance this year. -
Looks like Sewell won't make it past MIA...

Atlanta might take Lance. -
I kind of wish there was a combine this year. These top corners are difficult to place.

What Are the Chances of Sewell Actually Dropping to us?
SmartyHurney4 replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
Before today I was thinking about 50/50, but I'm hearing more rumors of trade ups, and not for a QB. -
A lot of smoke on CBs right now. If someone like Lance is at our pick I would hope to trade back a few spots, maybe Denver, and grab a CB if that's what they're really looking for.

Patriots have talked to the Panthers about a draft day trade
SmartyHurney4 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Anyone but the Pats. -
It can definitely help the defense, I'm actually high on getting a solid secondary, especially when you have someone like Burns that will get to the QB given enough time. If there's no QB though, yeah LT is very difficult to find and might as well take one, even though I think it would just be hand holding Darnold to mediocrity.

Peter King has us taking Justin Fields
SmartyHurney4 replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
Someone would jump us to 7, if he makes it there. -
Justin Fields 32 LOL

I personally don't really mind. What's the point of bringing in elite offensive talent now? Do we really want to hand hold Darnold into Andy Dalton level play? -
If they trade back they better be stacking picks for next year. They'll need them.

What is the hit rate of top 10 pick corners the last decade? Also, will a corner really make or break this team? I feel like corner isn't going to move the needle.

Maintaining perspective on draft day

How does a 2nd + 4th + 6th + cap room ever equate to a "3rd pick". In a few days there will be no equivalent to anything.
-
You know what's fun. In a week from now the 'we traded the equivalent' dumb dumb narrative gets to be thrown out, because it will officially be draft pick relevant for the current season. Also stop downplaying it. It was 3 picks + millions of cap + as soon as the draft is over tens of millions more committed the next season with this 5th year option. This is so funny watching people twist themselves into pretzel to devaluate the assets traded.

How lazy are you? Watch his games. There's one or two full games on YouTube. One was him playing vs the Browns, and boy it's not pretty. Though I guess it has to be a 10 second clip or Tweet for you ADHD kids. Robby Sabo on Twitter: "Yes, every NFL quarterback misses open guys at times, but Sam Darnold is now doing it on a routine, game-by-game basis. How he doesn't pull the trigger here on a Jamison Crowder wheel will remain one of football's greatest mysteries. #TakeFlight https://t.co/XiwqI7codo" / Twitter Robby Sabo on Twitter: "More Sam Darnold flat-out missing guys. The defense literally handed the Jets a gift on this one, but they just couldn't capitalize. #TakeFlight https://t.co/IWz8yl3s8O" / Twitter Robby Sabo on Twitter: "Two open flats yet neither is attempted. Sam Darnold just doesn't trust a 4 or 5-yard quick flat when the corner is obviously out of position to jump it. Additionally, that slot corner blitz means his left flat will also be there. This should have been too easy. #TakeFlight https://t.co/R8F9QymK4U" / Twitter

Because it's actually the reverse. You cannot post even a somewhat critical or reasonable opinion, even backed with stats, links to games, clips, analysis, and not have every fool @you with platitudes, a strawman, and then making fun of you for not literally being a 'believer'. Also, again it's a not just a second round pick it's 3 picks + cap, and a large amount of cap space if we pick up his option. If he doesn't work out, it's not a small gamble. Why? You may ask (probably not because that requires some thought), we would be going into next off-season with a low amount of cap space (with several big contracts looming), few picks to use for trades, and a lot less options at finding a QB. You think trading up this year is bad? Wait until there's 1, maybe 2 QB in the entire draft worth taking.
