Yes, I think Smith is going to be great and I LOVE TREMBLE!!!!. I think his evaluation is too low and I think we see him much better than that (obviously I guess). His blocking is vicious. His ability to take out defenders at the 2nd level is going to increase CMCs big play possibilities a lot I think. I also thought his route running was already pretty could as well as his catching ability and both will only improve with time and coaching. He's only 20. Plus as a 12th man hybrid type he will really allow us to run some different looks at defenses and catch them sleeping a couple of times a game. WHEN his receiving games improves a little he will be a problem. He's lateral moves are great and I can see us sneaking him into wide open space during a game as the get used to him running across the line to pancake someone but every once in a while instead he slips up field into an empty space for a big gain. Plus he should really improve our redzone offense. I think that pick is a sleeper A. One of my favorite picks

This is the way a player is supposed to act when he gets drafted into the NFL. I love this guy. His interview is great too. "Am I ready? I'll walk my happy ass to Carolina dude!!!" -
Let's pray these things dont occur

You're right. its not just missing out, it's YOU missing out. YOU are a big miss. Obvious miss and yet, YOU WON'T be missed -
After what I witnessed this weekend, having a trade or even 2 between now and then wouldn't surprise me at all. Start collecting those 2022 picks now hahaha

I have to strongly disagree with you on this one. He's only 20. Runs good routes, shows pass catching ability that can be improved with coaching and he isn't a good blocker, he's a great blocker that moves very well laterally. I think you fail to see the many different possibilities he will bring to our offense as a "12th" man player and what his ability to flatten defenders at the second level will do for CMCs big play ability. I think in a couple of season he will be loved in Carolina. Awesome pick. Solid A.

Rhule said in the presser that he sees him as a man cover CB. Good size and speed. Says he can cover TEs and WOs. So yeah we want to run more man coverage schemes or perhaps man/zone combinations. We'll have Horn on the the first target and could use Taylor on a second target in some coverages early on and especially on 3rd downs. Bring him in to make those 3rd down conversions more difficult and if he develops he could become Jackson's replacement.

Everybody keeps talking about that but we already signed a K before the draft. Panthers sign former Oklahoma State kicker Matt Ammendola (usatoday.com)

I love this pick too. Great run defender and tackling machine. He's a good ST guy and can offer us depth at MIKE which is something we need.

Round 6 (A) Deonte Brown - G - Alabama
Panthers Rhule replied to Jackofalltrades's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm reading a lot of very positive comments about our draft from everyone. I honestly think the only place I've read anything bad about our draft all over the internet has been in Huddleton. Although that too has died down a lot. Most of those guys aren't around today. -

That bottom one is the first time I think I've ever seen anyone push Brown back like that. I'm sure it's happened other times too but I've never seen it. -

This is what I was thinking. As he is he doesn't really seem like a fit for us but if they've spoken with him about slimming down and he's said he can do it then he could become a really nice piece for us. His pass protection skills are obviously top notch. If he can cut weight and improve his feet movement then sure why not. Great nickname too. -
I'm Disappointed....BUT....THIS....DEFENSE**
Panthers Rhule replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol, I feel ya there but we brought in 2 solid LBs in the off season. The one with ties to Rhule has the potential to be great. 12 sacks??!!! I know he's a tweener but that what we want. I think this defense is going to be super fast, creative and coming at the offenses in every which way. Getting a shutdown corner last night just opened the can of whoop ass on our opponents. We're playing mathball now. I know the movie was called moneyball but just because mathball doesn't sound cool but in reality that's what it is. We're projecting numbers. Those numbers equal results. X=4x5.7, Y=27:5.6. X+Y= Victory Folks! Doesn't matter how you get to the numbers, as long as you get to the numbers. We are becoming the Revenge of the Nerds. -
He reminds me of a prisoner from that show 60 days in. I can't remember his name but he was a quiet guy, a little chubby that got attacked early in the season but then started working as muscle for the pod boss. Beat some guy up in his cell that owed money.

Panthers Rhule replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
I actually have high hopes for Arnold. I think he has the tools to be a solid weapon for us moving forward. WR3 maybe but we'll see. We didn't have one before last season even with the same guy on the roster the season's before so who knows? LT1 I would think yeah, OG2 I see more as a maybe. I'm not blowing off our newest OL just yet. Let's see how they fit in our system before judging. We did grab them quickly so maybe there's something there that we haven't seen yet because they've been used incorrectly? IDK. Let's see before deciding -

You could also look at it this way. When Rhule got here, our obvious weakness was our defense. We had almost nothing in place while on offense we at least had some pieces. So, he comes n and makes our weakness our strength in only 1.5 off seasons. Once that it done, you tweak the offense a little and BOOM! We have the type of team we've always wanted. IMO these guys are killing it so far and we are just seeing the beginning of what we can actually become now that Hurney is gone and Fits is here. Seems like he and Rhule work well together and understand what Rhule envisions this team becoming. I know Darnold is controversial right now and I understand the reasoning behind it. But I've watched a lot of tape and evaluations of him both good and bad and imo you can SEE the talent there. Is just 23. He never should have been drafted where is was and he definitely never should have started when he did and yes, the results were bad but he survived it and there are some amazing plays on tape along the way. I firmly believe that Darnold has the potential to be a great QB and that THIS staff can take him there. We are witnessing the birth of something special here and we should all just sit back and appreciate all of these moves so that we'll remember exactly how it happened. -
I never said I was a woman. I just said I wasn't a dude. I never said I was white nor did I say I was a person of color. (translation=anyone not with European origins). Why do you need to categorize everyone? Do you feel the need to treat me differently if I tell you I'm a an old man? What if I'm really a middle aged woman? You probably assume that I'm white because my image is of Rhule. What if I told you that my favorite Panther of all time is Steve Smith. Do I still think Fields isn't a good QB because I'm racist? Even if I'm not white? Or am I'm not allowed because you're racist? If I'm a woman, does that mean that if you don't agree with me that you're sexist? Doesn't my opinion have the same valor as yours? Are you a racist and a sexist or is it possible that we evaluate players differently? I read earlier that some evaluations fit into stereotypes. Fair enough but those same evaluations mentioned athletically superior. Isn't that a stereotype as well? Is that stereotype acceptable in your world? People who view the world by race are racists. People who view the world by sex are sexists. All of those people are called bigots. I personally hate bigotry. You have no right to define me. If you feel the need to justify your weak opinions based on any of these things then you have become exactly what you claim to speak against.

Don't call me sweet dude race baiter. I'm not a dude, but I am sweet. Is Mac known for getting wasted? I haven't heard that story yet. Got a link?

The 49ers don't want a QB to sit and learn behind Garapolo. Jimmy G isn't old. What's he going to teach exactly? Nothing. They want a QB who already has shown NFL knowledge. Whether you like it or not, Jones has demonstrated those things. He can open his receivers with his eyes and his fakes. He can anticipate receivers being open way before they are open. Everyone gets caught up on physical attributes because that is the shiny new thing. Jones represents the old school QB. That's why so many people hate on him. But if he goes to SF he has the skills, with that team, to dominate.

At least half of these people that are now being implied as to being racist were all over the Watson trade. The last time I checked he was black. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them a racist, white supremacist or a white supremacist's enabler. Is that the right word for non whites who agree that Fields isn't that good? In fact, this really makes me mad. How dare you imply that I'm a racist because of my football opinion. I've got to walk away now but in my opinion it's the people that always focus on race who are the real racists.
-
Says you, not me. It also says QB not NFL ready. Are you saying that if a QB is black then he cannot possibly have those traits? To me that sounds racist. I treat everyone the same. Do you?
-
Uh oh. Whenever someone say this you just know that's exactly what they are going to do.
-
I can understand that. It goes against what any one of have thought before this final week so yeah, it would definitely be a surprise. However, I'd honestly be surprised about it and not mad about. I'd have a much harder time dealing with Fields, Lance or Jones at 8 than Horn. I still wouldn't be mad about it but it would definitely be harder for me to understand. I mean, at least we NEED a number 1 corner.
