NFL Playoffs Divisional Round - Games Thread
frankw replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
The key difference between us and the Texans is they just got shut down by a Super Bowl contender while our offense looked like deep fried ass cheeks against teams like the Bears and Jaguars. We played down to the level of what was supposed to be inferior competition and Bryce Young was just as responsible for that as the oline and receivers. You guys are being really disingenuous trying to mask that truth. Just take a break. -

I'd be fine with Mike MacDonald. Bring some of that nasty to both sides of the ball. DeMeco Ryans has brought that kind of swagger to his team. -

Well so much for the huddle cope that the Texans have a really good oline. It's serviceable but that's about it. -
Pretty confident its gonna be Dan Morgan GM
frankw replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
Knowing that Dan Morgan was an integral part of this mess is not encouraging. Of course he could go on to being a really good GM somewhere else. But this franchise really needs a complete shakeup in the player evaluation department overall. If that doesn't happen I do not expect our dismal ability to spot talent to suddenly change dramatically just because Fitterer is gone. The man who was constantly in his ear is still here and he will undoubtedly be in Dan's ear often. All I can do is hope for the best either way. -

This a tough ass test for the Texans. The Ravens have a great deal riding on this game with how they've been in the playoffs as of late. Especially Lamar. Hopefully Houston at least make things interesting. -

The whole "Stroud would suck here just as bad as Young" logic really is getting stale and few other QB's taken first overall would get the same benefit of the doubt.

What are his strengths from college though? He had an awful deep passing completion % at Alabama that has translated to the next level regardless of all other circumstances. He needs to have a phenomenal offseason. First order of business is ditching the weight watchers diet and living in the gym. Next order of business is he needs to be connected at the hip with his receivers to develop as much rapport and continuity as possible. While all this is happening we need to be leaving no stone unturned in rebuilding this OL and bringing in more weapons for him. I sincerely hope all this happens. The alternative is bleak as hell. We'll see.

I'd honestly be very surprised if Harbaugh actually took the Falcons job. What's the allure? Looks like he's using the NFL as a bargaining chip again. But hey anything can happen I guess.

All we can do is wait and see if Tepper will at least back off his meddling somewhat and let the GM and coach do their jobs. I think it's mostly unlikely. But I'm going to hope for it in the meantime because I need some level of hope before the offseason kicks off and the media and everyone else starts laying into us in for giving the Bears the first pick. We'll see.

Baker Mayfield out here winning playoff games...
-
Pointless? We gave him the keys to waste another entire draft. Every time he made splash moves he got more desperate and we got worse somehow. We need to hire people who aren't interested in being brown nosers but football people. Unfortunately that's not in David Teppers wheelhouse.

Will Scott Fitterer go down as one of the worst GM’s in NFL history?
frankw replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know where he'll rank all time in the NFL when all the smoke clears. Technically you could argue there have been worse. But for us. He destroyed this team like it was his job to do so. And he was very confident about it. Worst Panthers GM by a wide margin. I'm just glad it's finally over with. -
With the benefit of hindsight I think all of us should be able to agree by now Fitterer and Rhule absolutely should have been fired together. It made as much sense as keeping Hurney after firing Rivera. I really hope some people don't fool themselves into idolizing our next GM before they've proven anything here. At least let them come in and draft some good football players. Then we'll talk.

Too bad your #1 fan abandoned their account in the midst of all this Panthers fail eh?

Man the Eagles really fell into a trash pile quick after Steichen left. I don't want anyone from that org.
-
Safe to say you weren't paying attention. CJ Stroud himself had to come out and say he's a football player not a test taker. Well. The young man certainly proved himself there.

They played differently. Cam's rushing ability was used to the overall detriment of his career Iongevity. The Panthers ran him into the ground. The last time we were in the playoffs guess who our leading rusher was? He also almost won that playoff game throwing to practice squad receivers. We can also admit now with a new perspective that yes indeed Cam could have done more to hone his craft as a passer. He and Ron Rivera share responsibility for the bitter end of his career here. It didn't have to end that way. Tepper also did him dirty you don't treat players who completely changed your franchise like that. He's had us in perpetual disaster ever since. Fitting.

Buddy quit the team and the board over the McCaffrey trade. It's best to laugh at his hypocrisy and keep it pushing.
-
Quinn would be ridiculously underwhelming. I'd rather hire pretty much any of the other young coordinators.
-
Sad truth is we could have kept Borrego and been playing better basketball than this. MJ should be punched in the dick for canning James just to hire back Steve.
-
Allen is a very good young QB. You don't need to diminish what Cam did for the position to acknowledge this unless he's living rent free in your head all these years later for "reasons".
