  1. Just to be completely clear. From a general average team standpoint I would concur in most circumstances. The issue is that isn’t us. If we were a vaguely competitive team that at least made the playoffs from time to time it would be one thing. We're just hoping to not be a doormat right now. So when we make no attempt to even kick the tires with anyone else and bring back Dalton on a sweetheart deal whom the last image of that we have in our heads is he and the offense getting absolutely torn to pieces by the Commanders and the very lowly Bears. Any positivity I can work up is going to be really miniscule at best. At the end of the day the best cure for being bad is the passage of time. It's not fresh in anyone's mind anymore. It's the offseason. But no matter how offended some people might be by these inconvenient truths now in just a few short months the daggers will be back out sooner or later. Anyone who's read a gameday thread here knows this.
  2. It's only summer league. But you gotta start somewhere. I'm just glad to see the culture of the franchise finally beginning to shift.
  3. We can't ever reach an end to this conversation because you keep reverting back to a perceived view that I am "blaming" him. For what exactly? Losing? That's not true. I am where CRA is on this. Correctly acknowledging Thielen's clear limitations and our clear past emphasis on trying to build a passing offense around him that resulted in the literal worst ranked passing offense is the result of decisions made by the front office. Any "blame" lies there. I do not blame Adam Thielen for taking the money and milking it for all it's worth. Twice. Again. That's on our front office. All I can do is hope that Canales is planning on throwing everything he can at the young receivers. It is critical we do not waste the opportunity for their development in what will in all likelihood be another losing season barring a miracle. Ultimately I get the sense your hardline position and unwillingness to let this go to the point you are repeatedly talking about lack of IQ and calling people dumb (very familiar behavior in this day and age) is being fueled by past conversations in other subforums. As such this only continues to get uglier. So there's no need to go any further.
  4. Yet you keep coming back here running to his defense. He has a wife already doesn't he?????
  5. The wording is confusing. The onus is on the moving parts and not the main piece at the center of it all? He hasn't earned that benefit yet. When he has an elite season then we can talk.
  6. Things like this were always an inevitability. It's up to the front office and the scouting staff to stop blowing drafts. If this makes it all the more consequential then honestly I view it as a good thing. Warm that seat up even more.
  7. This place is tame af compared to the majority of the rest of the internet. But what you see now is a direct effect of all the losing. The Tepper's really have nearly killed this franchise. That cannot be understated.
  8. I have no expectations for tonight. As long as the young guys continue to hustle their asses off the future is bright win or lose.
  9. What's truly bizarre is folks trying to bully others for actually attempting to apply standards to a franchise with no back to back winning seasons no playoffs in going on 8 years and the worst win percentage in professional sports the last several years. You keep on fighting the good fight
  10. Brother let's hope he doesn't even have half that many yards. The last thing we need to do is be trying to force him the ball to justify what we paid him. This season should be about the young players emerging. P.S. thanks for the poo spam. Clearly you like older veterans. Which is ironic considering all the talk in the past about Ron Rivera and his vets.
  11. Were you around in the mid 2000's? We used to have regular other team posters here who would give people a ribbing some lighthearted and some out and out shitposters. There was an entire subforum dedicated to it at one point it got so contentious. It was called Smack Central. I'm guessing you would have been one of the folks calling for them to be banned lol.
  12. There it is! Now just waiting on the details....
  13. There are a very few number of legitimate NFL level QB's on this planet. I'm not saying he is not capable of being a backup still given that very limited number. All I'm saying is some people can choose to look at the reality glass half full or glass half empty. I'm relatively trying to remain near the middle. I do appreciate that he has experience with which he can pass on to Bryce. But I think his resume is being put on a level that does not line up. It's interesting you mentioned Flacco. I'd take him mentoring the Panthers starting QB in a heartbeat. At least Joe has won in the playoffs. And won a Super Bowl to boot. He might have only had success largely in that season but man what a run he led that offense on. I can respect that. I'm not saying I don't like or respect Andy. I do like him. And he's a ginger. But as a local fan who has seen losing losing losing mediocrity and a few very short lived seasons of potential greatness. Give me any ounce of greatness every time. Then we can hang our hat on mentoring at some level. That's my position and all I'm trying to convey. Thanks for the chat.
  14. Anyways. $110 million in career earnings for Andy with the new contract he signed with us. He is laughing all the way to the bank and then some regardless. Good for him.
  15. Look I've been trying to be delicate but this entire thread is nothing more than an exercise in vigorous turd polishing. I'm perfectly willing to participate in optimistic discourse regarding our young players but what's going on with aging Andy Dalton is homerism gone wild. He is objectively bad. Plain and simple. And he was such in his final season with the Saints. In one game against the Cardinals that season he threw 2 pick sixes. He was very bad last season after that mirage of a win against the Raiders. It is what it is.
  16. Currently playing the Thunder right now. I guess it says it all that playoffs in the Summer League are a high point these days. But we'll take what we can get.
  17. Pooing posts over Andy Dalton. Yeah that sounds about right for the fanbase
  18. Imagine typing this with a straight face.
  19. Soon to be 37 in the fall 0-4 career playoff record. Actually when you get down to it he is a very fitting "mentor" for our own QB for all the wrong reasons considering we're still looking to end our own drought going on 8 years now. Bruh we need to open the huddle to rival fans again. This echo chamber poo is officially out of pocket.
