  1. Hopefully that doesn't equate to a loss of speed. Shaq is a likeable guy but one big change we need with Fitterer is how we invest in linebackers. An 18 million dollar cap hit for a 28 year old linebacker will only go one of two ways.
  2. Who said we need a hall of famer in order for them to be a leader? And you talking about analysis is rich considering your entire shtick here is dumping on others while rarely offering original thoughts of your own.
  3. Well we need to be honest with ourselves. If we want to shed basement dweller status we need someone other than our starting running back to be the defacto leader. Across the league for the majority of successful teams who are in the playoff hunt that lands on the shoulders of the qb. We glaringly lacked that last year and you see where it got us.
  4. That depends entirely on how desperate we may or may not be by the fall. Opinions vary but what cannot be denied is there must be some semblance of a solution by September. I do not wish to see Darnold's blindside protected by a revolving door. Been there done that.
  5. The pecking order begins with 89 bottom line. Julio is really good but if Smith went up against the corners Jones dumped on for 300 yards Steve would have put up 500 in his prime.
  6. Hard to take this analysis seriously when it completely glosses over the fact that the team still doesn't have a clear answer at left tackle. That in itself is as big a question mark as Sam Darnold because our depth along the line isn't much to write home about either.
  7. As someone who has seen enough of the Panthers struggling to field a competent receiver core over the years I'm definitely not penciling in any unproven rookies over Anderson until some games have been played. Not to mention we haven't had the best luck with injuries and it's a 17 game season now. For now we need him we can talk about next year when the time comes.
  8. Few even care. Charlotte is beginning to resemble any other generic big city. You would think it wouldn't be a discussion met with ridicule considering everything the world has been through the last year and the increasing wealth gap only growing larger along with the net worth of many of these billionaires. But heads will remain buried in the sand. It is the American way and the wealthy don't want educated consumers they want that cash flow.
  9. Look Cam was not the most prolific passer and most unbiased fans will agree. In his prime he could sling it no problem but what made him an intimidating force were his rushing abilities which were and still are in very rare company historically especially in the red zone. He has the most rushing touchdowns in league history and he is second all time in rushing yards. At his best the man was a human cheat code and he absolutely changed the position and the way teams look at dynamic ability now. Because Cam was not the slam dunk first overall pick in the minds of quite a few analysts and coaches ten years ago. If you ask any of these younger quarterbacks now who also have similar ability they will tell you the impact Newton had on how they wanted to play in college and the pros.
  10. Stadium funding has been talked about for years though. Outrage isn't anything new. As for examples of privately funded stadiums it is obviously less common but it has happened. See below. https://californiaglobe.com/section-2/california-leads-the-way-in-building-new-stadiums-and-arenas-by-not-using-taxpayer-money/
  11. That new stadium isn't as far off as people think. Just remember guys billionaires have feelings too
  12. You just aren't going to get through to some of these people. There were folks trying to shut down any dissent about Teddy Bridgewater until the bitter end last year. Optimism is good but shifting blame in all directions and then grasping for any favorable comparison before a real snap has been taken is unnecessary. Let him show us something. The opener is the perfect opportunity.
  13. Your link doesn't seem to work. But I enjoyed the reviews.
  14. Hey you're right I'm imperfect and could have worded a reasonable point a little better. Whatever is going on with your Monday night I hope it gets better my guy because from here it looks like you need some good vibes sent your way.
  15. All this because I used the word potential? We have a history of failed quarterbacks that isn't a contentious statement. Since the team was awarded a franchise only two stand out. Delhomme and Newton. That's a lot of failure in between for a franchise that has only been around since '95.
  16. Sam isn't exactly getting it easy here either though. Our line is serviceable but we are a few injuries away from catastrophe until proven otherwise. Not to mention we are basically entering the season hoping one of a few tackles emerges as the anchor on the left side. But that is what we have done the last ten years and it hasn't worked yet so fingers crossed I guess.
  17. I think we agree fundamentally for the most part. But on the subject of Adam Gase that has taken on a life of it's own to the point it feels like now people are trying too hard to absolve Sam for some pretty awful picks. 39 of them in three seasons. For whatever any of us want to say about scheme or play design the ball was still in Darnold's hands. We paired him with a quarterback coach who has had success with development at this level which is a plus compared to who the previous regime leaned on so there is hope he can bring him along quickly and get him acclimated. Matt Rhule and Joe Brady can coach him up but it will still be up to Sam to take care of the football. It is best to prepare for his inevitable turnovers now because even if he excels he is bound to make some ill advised throws. It will be how he responds after and how he handles pressure in end of game scenarios that will determine his status here in the future.
  18. I've focused less on a question of his ability or his intangibles and more on the decision making. We know he was in an unfavorable position with the roster and the staff. He still didn't make the best decisions with the football and had issues fully reading the field at times missing receivers. The arm isn't a question. The drive isn't a question. The leadership isn't a question. Now the staff and surroundings are not a question as long as the line holds up. Whether or not he takes the next step in processing on the field is what will separate Darnold from the Panthers lengthy list of failed quarterbacks who had potential yet were unable to put it all together ultimately. In that aspect there is a very long list across the league of guys who couldn't do that despite their physical talents.
  19. Happy for Julio and happy to have him out of the division and stick it to the Falcons. Things are falling into place nicely for the Panthers. There should truly be no excuses for the Panthers to be a competent and competitive football team this season especially within the division. If not some seats should be getting warm.
  20. If you truly don't believe Darnold has any chance to be an adequate starter it might be best to just disconnect. Why invest time and energy blasting the guy now? We are already past that stage. Most people got that out of their system weeks ago. We'll know plenty in the fall so don't waste your summer being miserable.
  21. I like Derrick Brown though he is what we drafted him to be. We will sadly face some tough decisions in the coming years on defensive contracts but that is a good problem to have with how potent nfl offenses are now.
  22. After ten years of tackling dummies at left tackle Jordan Gross may as well have been a hall of famer. What a mess.
  23. So Robby is the next huddle villain? Life comes at ya fast.
