  1. Finally nice play and utilizing DJ. Sam is very sharp today hats off to him.
  2. Look I know this is the gameday thread and people get way too reactionary but ffs if we don't score here Joe Brady needs to get chewed tf out.
  3. How many times do we have to see CMC up the gut for no gain in a short yardage situation before we get it?
  4. Great first drive but they really need to get a handle on these short yardage situations for real.
  5. If we really have 4 active TE's there should be no excuse to struggle in the redzone again. We're playing with fire with this oline.
  6. I dont think anyone is attacking him it's simply a matter of perspective and basic expectations. The word rebuild is a crutch in some ways. We have one of the best offensive weapons in the league a qb with a strong arm and mobility a young defense with many promising pieces in place and a staff that is supposed to be up to the task. If we take care of business against New Orleans you will see more positive takes. Make no mistake that is the first step though. We need to get that off our backs.
  7. I can appreciate the effort but you can just spare me the spiel about armchair GM's and fans not knowing anything. Seen it with Gettleman seen it with Hurney seen it with Rivera seen it with Fox. We will not know until at least 2023 if we will finally snap the no back to back winning seasons curse. As it stands this team has plenty of young talent. The question mark areas are the same they've always been. There is still enough there for us to compete and begin kicking some ass in our division though. And that at minimum is what I expect for this season. If we can't even do that expect the lame excuses to be met with ridicule bc as much as I like Rhule I am tired of the Panthers being a doormat.
  8. Credit where it's due he did have some clutch kicks for us and I am appreciative of that in particular the one against the Pats. But even Mr. Automatic himself John Kasay is forever in the shithouse of Panthers lore and will remain there until the end of time for his own gaffe despite a plentiful list of clutch kicks over many years. That's the job. Kicker is a very unforgiving position
  9. Butker and Tucker both play on super bowl contending teams while Gano is with the Giants who are so offensively limited they can barely compete in the East. Do you think there is a difference in the pressure of kicks between those teams? People all but expect the Giants to lose. Not so with the Chiefs and Ravens. The fact that I'm getting posts pooped over Gano who hasn't suited up for the Panthers in three years speaks to the delusion around this subject. This franchise really needs a winning season.
  10. Actually after the game I felt better about our oline on the whole but pass pro is still quite dicey and our depth is a few steps from catastrophe based on how prone some guys are to getting banged up.
  11. You make valid points but I don't think people are shaking in their boots. However the Saints are pretty deep. It should be a close game for us and we have firepower ourselves but you know the Saints staff will throw everything they have at us and even the kitchen sink. Back in 2015 Payton had Luke McCown throwing over 300 yards on our defense. These teams know each other well and you can count on it likely being a slugfest.
  12. I appreciate your subtle intelligence jab but you'll have to break down the attempts and look at what range the bulk of the attempts are from to gain a full understanding. In this instance 14 of his 32 attempts were from the 20-39 range while the remaining were from 40-50 with his one miss being from 50+ which highlights the ineptitude of the Giants offense I have already talked about. But he was not the same kicker here when it was all said and done and we have data to back that up you can look at that here for yourself if you please. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GanoGr44.htm
  13. 14 missed kicks in 2015 and 2016. We forget how close some of those games were. 2017 was actually his most accurate season but he had fewer attempts.
  14. Of course his percentage looks better he was the Giants primary scoring weapon last year all they could do was kick field goals. Sound familiar? The only team worse than the Giants at scoring touchdowns were the Jets. Yeah it's great the Gmen have a good kicker but I'm looking to be a contender not a perennial bottom feeder looking for silver linings. We've spent too long settling for field goals anyway. Get to that endzone baby!
  15. Primarily he is and was a tackle it was his position at BYU where he was "dominant" as observed by some at the time which is why we were thrilled he fell to us. I get we don't see him as ready for us just yet but we should be able to agree initially he was viewed as a pick to help our clear need at tackle which still remains.
  16. If you're including his final games here you should note he was purposely held off the field on long kicks bc Rivera lost trust in him on anything near 50 yards or more.
  17. That's an uhhh... interesting comparison. I think that's a little different maybe. Gano fractured his femur.
  18. He was and he was dealing with a nasty injury at the time. The Panthers haven't had luck with cheap kickers so far but it isn't always a given that signing a more expensive vet will yield you instant profit anyway. Enter Olindo Mare.
  19. Good for him. I wish him luck surviving the season unscathed.
