For some folks just being better than the likes of PJ Walker and Will Grier is enough. The fact they were the only competition we had for Sam is honestly pathetic. Darnold needs to have a big game tomorrow.
-
Not turning the ball over is kinda important too.

Great team win tonight. Everybody was pitching in. It's good to be 2-0.

Six games into the season and we're left hoping our offense can muster enough to defeat a lowly and depleted Giants team so maybe we can get on track and finish with a respectable record. Yeah you're gonna encounter negativity. Some of ya'll are just stuck in a cycle and can't help but try to convince yourselves you aren't seeing it again after the Kyle and Teddy debacles. That's cool but don't disguise it in this I'm a better fan nonsense if you're going to tear down other quarterbacks for fun.

Panthers fans have been very down on Mac Jones since before the draft and taken every opportunity to dunk on him as a passer. I didn't want him here either but I also didn't expect our own fourth year starter known for his arm would have more interceptions than Jones and a worse passer rating. It's not out of bounds or hating to discuss that aspect if we are going to keep talking about a rookie qb in another conference for giggles. I'll leave it at that.
-
Sam's turnovers are holding back his team no different than the rookie though. If we're going to drag other qb's we should at least be consistent with our own. That's it.

If Cam Erving is out Brady Christensen will finally start at LT (hype)
frankw replied to SgtJoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just get Christensen reps at left now. We should be under the realization that we won't get Erving or Elflein for more than a few games at a time they weren't going to suddenly be less injured just because they signed with Carolina. -
I quoted a post about Jones "bad numbers" and mentioned our own quarterbacks ints and passer rating and a few posters lost their minds and now all they can talk about is Darnold's rushing ability that I've never denied. I've actually been pleasantly surprised with his pocket movement but he's been on the decline since the second half of that Dallas loss primarily bc of his decision making as a passer. We brought him in specifically for his arm talent. If we have to walk around on egg shells about his deficiencies no more needs to be said.

I think those of us who have spent time around this fanbase for years knows the reason why this conversation has shifted from shitting on rookie Mac Jones numbers to immediately changing the subject to Darnold's rushing scores after highlighting his other statistics in comparison to said rookie. It's very apparent.

What is my bias? Holding the quarterback accountable for turnovers the same as we did for Cam Newton and Jake Delhomme? Darnold's rushing touchdowns were not sustainable. You still have to be able to throw the ball well and also be smart with it. Sam has not done that and that along with our oline and drops are the biggest reasons we are in the midst of this losing streak. If Sam doesn't turn the ball over three times against a 1 win team at home we win even with other factors mentioned. You want to play victim and cry foul while the rest of us want to win and we need our quarterback to play better first and foremost
-
Guys listen. He just loses the right way. Saying things like this and then claiming Cam Newton wasn't a prolific rusher shows you have some blind spots and weird bias.
-
Nobody here has denied our oline troubles but there have been numerous times Sam has had opportunities and thrown ints at defenders in the numbers. Did Joe Brady throw those 7 picks? Is it Joe Brady's fault Sam with his arm talent is so useless with the deep ball? Passes sailing over receivers heads or out of bounds surely there is someone we can blame other than the qb.
-
Who said anyone wants Daniel or Mac? The point is our FOURTH year quarterback is making the same bad decisions he has always made and despite other variables those mistakes are hurting our team even the head coach called him out for it. He needs to play better. If you are seriously downplaying those 8 turnovers you are simply delusional there is nothing more to say.
-
You bring up a quarterback who hasn't suited up for this team in over two years but I'm the one confused? This our third attempt since then it's time to bring yourself into reality it's going to be 2022 in a few months. There is no need to get this defensive over some other teams draft failure who is clearly repeating the same errors here with a new staff and team.
-
Jason Garret has been blasted over the years for his playcalling abilities he went from head coach of one of the sports most popular teams to coordinating for one of the worst and answering to a former special teams coach as his boss. Please don't even go there. Nobody said Darnold is the only problem but there's a reason you are running from discussing his 8 turnovers in our last three losses. Either address it or stop making excuses.
-
Daniel Jones has a better passer rating than Darnold. His OC is Jason Garret and can you name one Giants receiver? These excuses are a joke. Ah yes let's drag Newton into this again. One qb is a former mvp who has actually won something at the nfl level the other is a former bust in his fourth year who is still trying to shake the turnover prone label. Raise your expectations good grief.
-
You're right those are bad numbers. So our fourth year starting quarterback shouldn't be worse right? 7 td 7 int 8 turnovers in 3 games 79.7 passer rating compared to 89.6 for Jones. It's still Adam Gase's fault though.
-
Sad state of affairs when the Giants have more passing yards per game and better third down efficiency than us with Daniel Jones at the helm
-
D'Ernest Johnson was a nice fantasy pickup this week.
-
No reason to get that worked up about a former qb who clearly isn't coming back on a Thursday afternoon. With that said. We obviously have not had any luck with the post #1 era options and we still have no real deep passing game to speak of which is kind of ironic but it has to change soon.
-
I'm not looking at any game from here on as an easy win. If Sam can't outduel Daniel Jones though I'll pretty much be at the point where I've seen enough.
-
This is why I keep trying to tell Panthers fans to stop being so damn defensive of the Kyle Allen's Teddy Bridgewater's and Sam Darnold's of the nfl. When you lose an MVP talent behind center and only had one long term franchise quarterback in the 15 years before that you're likely to change quarterbacks several times before getting even close to that level of talent again.
