Yes sir he did. Emphatically so. Created a thread and everything. But don't mention it because he will get pretty upset.

Maybe it's you that needs a break.

"We aren't playing for anything this year" Isn't that what most people said in agreement regarding the 2023 Houston Texans who were one inexplicable play away from the first overall pick the season before? There is no reason this team cannot at least compete in our division. No Brees no Ryan no Brady. Give me a break with this hit dog mentality around here. You brought in a new staff a different GM talking about a new mentality. Get out there and start building a new culture. And if you QB isn't getting it done. Next man up! Keep pounding.

Are you alright?

Legend of the Game: Armanti Edwards
frankw replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Gantt is digging deep for fluff eh? As an aside everything I've read about Armanti on a personal level has been impressive. I wish him the best. -
I agree it's lose/lose for Canales. Which is why I've cautioned all the complete scapegoating of Reich just as people did with Rhule. But coach Canales took the job. He might be able to avoid the ire for another few weeks but by the end of September the flood gates of criticism will be wide open. He will be battle tested early.

With the putrid football I've had to observe the last few years I'll take the Cam Newton mentality from a #1 pick QB who wants to be on the field every single time versus one who says "Sure thing coach whatever you say" when told he can yuck it up on the sideline while pocketing 38 million dollars.

The Jets Joint Practice Thread: HOT Take Edition
frankw replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Regardless of what different people think is the better preseason path the Panthers have set the wheels in motion and raised the stakes by operating as if they are ahead of the curve. If they look unprepared and inept in week 1 the criticism will only be more pronounced. Not playing well at minimum is simply not an option. -
Bryce, Ickey, others looking good against jets. Video
frankw replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Looks like I'm occupying a vast amount of space inside his mind. If he doesn't chill the state of North Carolina is going to try to saddle me with paying taxes on that. With all the recent posts he's made has he even expressed a football related opinion of his own? All I've seen are complaints about others. Maybe he should take the advice he's given others about going out and touching grass. -
It's good we can find common ground and agree. The end result we seek is the same minus one or two people who want to watch the world burn lol. But just as you say the more likely outcome is incremental improvement. That's acceptable too. I just don't want to see anymore of our team getting the doors blown off or laboring to score boring field goals to the point our defense eventually stops giving maximum effort. Hopefully in a few months we will all have the answer we seek. A competitive hard nosed football team and a competent offense.

That's all this discussion has become is putting those with opposing views on a corner. To the point you have some folks trying to identify personality defects in those that differ from their views on the matter over disagreement. You say you don't think playing starters in the preseason will have much of an impact. I accept that opinion. I respond to that opinion with the fact we had very tense back and forth arguments about details like this last year when our starters actually played in preseason and looked awful. The company line was it didn't matter it was all vanilla and things would uptick when the season started. Now nobody wants to discuss that anymore. Now the the line is we don't need to play starters in the preseason at all. I am very skeptical that is the solution to not only our pitiful win/loss % the last several years but our distinct lack of a team culture. I'm in wait and see mode.

I an not missing it I am disagreeing with it. Can you guys discuss without the condescending insinuation that the other party is basically brain dead to see what you're articulating? Both sides of this debate want to be right but the one thing we should be able to agree on is the Panthers are not some consistent franchise that has a track record to dictate trends. We do not compare to McVay or Sirianni or any of the teams with established winning coaches and established QB situations no matter how many times we want to say their names. Andy Reid might as well be in another universe compared to us. Let's win this season opener and then start thumping our chests little by little. Until then this logic of hanging our hats on what other coaches are or aren't doing is just desperation from a franchise in the cellar.

Hmm let's see here. Listen to the guy with 4 Super Bowl rings or the guy with zero? That's a tough one!

frankw replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Most coherent and reasonable fans are encouraged but very cautiously optimistic for extremely plainly obvious reasons. I mean hey let's be real here. The most ugly game of the Panthers season and one of the worst games in franchise history against the Jaguars missing their starting QB occurred directly after Bryce and the rest of the offenses best game of the season against the Packers. It is perfectly reasonable to take the cautious optimism approach with this team. -
Numbers aren't the issue he's been very good in the regular season it's the lack of championship mentality. That throw short of the sticks in his last playoff game on 4th down was the summary of his postseason career. Vikings said peace. Don't blame them one bit. But again certainly any of us would take those numbers for BY over the worst starting QB in the league. That kind of a jump doesn't seem possible though as another poster has laid out the framework for what it would look like if Bryce made that high of a jump in one season. It would be one of if not the most improbable immediate career turnarounds in the history of the league probably .

I'm no Cousins fan but you do make a valid point. Production wise that would be something for us to at least hang our hats on. But overall trajectory wise if Bryce's ceiling is somehow Cousins I'd still be drafting another QB to develop behind him as insurance. Kirk has never legitimately competed for a title. Regular season stat padding sure but that's it.

Both Bryce and Ickey looking improved and worthy of their draft selection? I am intrigued. Let's increase this sample size and maybe we might actually have something here. -

Nobody here knows what's going to happen. It's interesting you complain about the way I presented your position as if there is some fascinating and deep reasoning you're holding onto in your back pocket and then refuse to provide anything other than speculation same as me. You can have the last word. Been good chatting with you. -

Trying to perform a psychological analysis on someone online over a difference of opinion regarding approach to preseason of all things is probably a pretty good indicator that you are as much a part of the perceived problem as the others that you claim are hindering dialogue so much. -

Why don't we just spare each the rabble rousing and just define our positions so we can move on? I want the Panthers and specifically this third coaching staff in three years to prove to me that this is the path before I buy in like I'm being sold a timeshare by some huckster I just met. You believe it's the correct call because you think that's what a good fan should do or you just believe it in your gut or because Dave Canales has such a strong jawline and powerful charisma and charm that he just couldn't possibly be wrong about this. In the end my preference is for you to be proven right because that means we are actually moving in a good direction for a change. Differing opinions are good. We both want the same result anyway. Settled? Cool. -

DeMeco Ryans has already won a playoff game in his first season as a head coach. The Panthers haven't been to the playoffs since what the 2017 season? But we've finally found the formula everyone. No more preseason for us -
Would the Carolina Panthers move on from QB Bryce Young?

He actually came back to poo your post. Comical levels of butt hurt. It's interesting that those who talk the most about other fans being the problem are just as if not more toxic. -
The Jets Joint Practice Thread: HOT Take Edition
frankw replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sean McVay and Andy Reid can do whatever they damn well please at this point because they are established championship coaches. You and any other Panthers fan can list off however many successful teams you want to justify your position it still doesn't validate the Panthers position on preseason until they actually prove anything on a competitive level. It's wild that we have to argue over things like this. The onus is entirely on the Panthers and their first time head coach that is trying to both dig the worst team in the NFL out of a hole and also last years worst starting QB out of the same hole. I'm of the opinion that with all of this in mind full picture maybe it would be prudent to exhaust every avenue possible to increase the possibility that the team will be ready come the start of regular season considering there are new roster additions in a new offense a new scheme with an all new coach and staff. The fact that anyone is trying to insinuate to me that this is somehow an outright unreasonable position is quite amusing. I guess we will have to agree to disagree kind sir's. -

The Carolina Panthers have been the worst team in the NFL for at least 3 years. No resting starters isn't some unique thing that just started happening recently. I dont think anyone myself included are arguing that. But the teams you mentioned along with the Rams have earned some level to a high level of the benefit of the doubt as they have each been competitive. I mean you have multiple Super Bowl contenders in that list with consistent sustained success. The Panthers have earned absolutely not even a sliver of the benefit of the doubt to make bold moves and declarations about anything. We're on our 3rd head coach in 3 seasons lol. Do I hope they are right on this? Hell yes. Do I automatically expect it will turn out fantastic for us? Bluntly no I do not. We'll see how it goes.
