If you are steadfast against drafting a quarterback then why on earth is keeping Newton around a good idea? Cam doesn't have the arm to be a season long starter anymore and he has endured enough abuse by this franchise. There's no reason to pay him on top of the 19 million we are stuck paying Sam. I concur entirely about not wanting to see another season of Darnold but if we aren't drafting a quarterback then just let Sam do what he does as difficult as that will be to watch.

After what Rhule has done with Brady Christensen who can say if TMJ is a bust or just being wasted. He will only be 22 years old when training camp rolls around again so it would be foolish to give up on him.
-
Well ideally he wouldn't be here but Tepper gonna Tepper I guess.

We may be a bad destination but we were better situated with cap space and draft resources before we began this "rebuild" that quickly turned into win now for some reason. We've had our opportunities to do this the right way. We are deep in desperation mode now and two divisional foes will also be looking for their quarterbacks of the future while we once again wallow at the bottom of the division so time is certainly not on our side. I share your skepticism on the possibilities of our first pick but either way we are rolling the dice

We should have been picking Burrow at first overall but we had to have our culture building win streak with Kyle Allen. We could have made a move for Herbert too. We again convinced ourselves this year wasn't it and we are doing the same now. We never should have brought in Teddy or Sam if we were truly rebuilding like Rhule and Tepper first sold us when he was hired. But for me it's a tough sell to again convince myself to kick the can down the road. That's just how frustrating it is to be a Panthers fan rn.

I would be fine with oline but as I stated previously I get the feeling many here might pull a 180 if a QB we again pass up looks good for another team. And some think they can see into the future and know in January that this QB class is doomed to fail. We all want instant gratification but this process is going to drag out for awhile longer no matter what we do.

If you don't agree that's cool keep it pushing then. It isn't my fault these decision makers folks here previously fawned over thought it was a good idea to go all defense one draft then corner the first pick on the next and then proceed to stockpile more corners. We have to take a qb this year or next regardless of the oline. Direct your ire where it belongs.

People say that about QB's every year. Herbert was the whipping boy here then Mac Jones too. We don't know none of us have a crystal ball. If we take a quarterback let him learn while Darnold takes the punishment behind this work in progress line.

Trade out of 6 or trade away a player instead?
frankw replied to Reebis21's topic in Carolina Panthers
We had a wasteland at wide receiver for years. We have one of the worst offenses in the league. We have invested significantly in the defense and they have disappointed tremendously in the second half of the season. If we are keen on shipping off a talented player we need to get something for one of these young defenders who will be due big contracts. -
Draft a QB and let him sit. Build the OL with the remaining picks and FA and in the meantime let Sam Darnold earn that 19 million dollars the hard way.

I'm not against it but some people are buying into fantasy scenarios and on the same mantra as last year thinking Fitterer was playing 4D chess fooling the entire league. We aren't going to wheel and deal our way out of this. But we have to draft a quarterback. The only attempt we have made in ten years is Will Grier and that doesn't even count.

I'm a Cody Martin fan. But if we are wasting the development of an 11th overall pick who has shown great promise for Cody we need to take a look at our coaching philosophy. In truth we should be further along with all of our rooks. I see too much Clifford in Borrego. It's frustrating.

Rizzuti calling out Rhule on double standard

Good to see. We need more folks in the media speaking on this. -
Ellis Williams (Observer) offense analysis
frankw replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Everyone was all ready to throw Joe Brady in front of a speeding bus but if you were paying attention you should have already known how this would play out. This putrid offense has been running exactly the way Rhule has wanted it to. -
You can put up any nice stat line early in the game but if you can't hit shots to put away a meh Wizards team you just aren't very good. How tf is Kyle Kuzma more clutch than our top shooters? I love this group and I'll still watch but facts are facts.

Solid thread bump. We could ask the OP what their new take is on all this but they've been missing since November
-
Well yeah they even got blown out by the Pacers in the play in game when they finally got the chance to prove something when it mattered. This is on James Borrego I just don't see a huge upgrade over what we had with Steve Clifford.
-
If this is the case then we should stop giving Scott Fitterer a pass. Fielding the worst oline the league has possibly ever seen should result in a thorough house cleaning.

If Cam wants a role somewhere odds are it will be as a backup. I know you mean well in your mind but these posts are not helping anyone. You're actually a gift to the anti-Cam pro anyone else QB crowd. Let it go and give it a rest.
-
Some do but the majority just hate losing and being an embarrassment. We need our own young QB of the future not some other bottom feeding teams sloppy seconds.
-
I am exhausted with the "can we still fix him" takes. The Jets. The J-E-T-S cut bait and moved on. If we have to absorb the cap hit then just cut him and turn the page.

This is not helpful and just plays right into the hands of people who hate Cam Newton and gives them much needed legitimacy.
