  1. Fournette was the logical choice as a punishing runner paired with Cam at the time. I don't blame Leonard for failing with the Jaguars who wouldn't? The one thing you can count on with this franchise is more often than not they will make the wrong choice. Cam Newton over a defensive tackle being one of the lone exceptions over the years and if some folks here had their way it wouldn't have happened.
  2. There is much truth in this but even still our defense has been getting absolutely abused in the trenches regardless of the offensive woes and that simply can't happen after back to back defensive first round picks and an entire draft in 20'. That isn't even mentioning our bizarre cornerback stockpiling.
  3. Not necessarily advocating for us to go quarterback in the first but who have we "reached" for? The last QB we drafted was Will Grier (lol) in the third round. I can't even call signing Teddy Bridgwater and trading for Sam Darnold attempts. No other teams were willing to A. pay Teddy that much money and B. give up that much for Sam Darnold. We have yet to make a real attempt.
  4. We're already there pal. The Jets have a better qb room than us and also three of our draft picks while we guaranteed the guy they sent packing a cool 18 million bucks.
  5. I can understand people not sure about drafting QB but everything should be on the table. If we're able to move a bad contract or two we need to be going after some proven olinemen via free agency or trade. All our resources next year should be going to the offense in a league driven by scoring and I don't care who we have to move to make that happen even if it means losing a fan favorite. But it all begins with QB.
  6. Yeah I don't get it either. To me it seems far fetched to think Hurney flew out on Tepper's private jet with 60 million dollars making his own franchise changing decisions only to be gone barely a year later. From what I've seen everything has been about Tepper and Rhule. Once Matt got in here and took a look around you can see how important Marty was. Good or bad Tepper has been in the driver's seat.
  7. Exactly. Our front office decisions especially with the oline have hurt us but there's no excuse to be all time levels of bad that's on coaching too. It's all been 🗑

    MNF

Idk if fired is the right word given the situation though. He had a meltdown in front of thousands of football fans he basically packed his own bags given the nature of the position he plays. I felt sorry for him at the time but he's still employed and he left here with over a million bucks.

    MNF

Meh he had ample opportunity here if he's salty he can take his money and get fuged.
  10. Yes we have had some quality players on defense but the unit as a whole has fallen off a cliff. If you want to blame the offense okay by all means yes they have been dreadful too but why are you conveniently leaving out the fact our resources the last two seasons have leaned heavily on one side of the ball? The offense is dreadful specifically bc this regime has attempted the dollar store Dave approach to the oline and it has blown up before their eyes.
  11. It sounds good in theory but we have overused McCaffrey to the point of insanity with two different coaching staffs. This whole offense needs a reset and that contract is going to be a hindrance in that goal no matter which angle you look at it from.
  12. As a fan it hurts but this is the only answer moving forward. We need to build a semblance of a real nfl oline ASAP by any means necessary and we can't have contracts like that around our necks. Also it needs to be said: Do not draft an rb in the top 10.
  13. Kyle Allen Teddy Bridgewater Sam Darnold all of them have had their share or excuses some more some less. Newton may get a little more leeway given his history but most people are aware of realities. I had wished mentalities like the above would change with time but I guess not and that's a bummer. Fear not though one day he will be gone again and you will be able to breathe a sigh of relief. For some that's all that matters and can even ease the sting of losing.
  14. If it were up to you we would be saddled with a hefty Kyle Allen extension. Remember those days? Ease up with the salt my guy.
  15. Many huddlers mercilessly ridiculed both him and Justin Herbert before they were drafted. Being wrong is what we do best here apparently.
  16. Both combined are enough to get most coaches canned bc we threw precious resources in cap space and draft capital right into the trash.
  17. Um they've already done that two times now. 30 million dollars for one season of Teddy Bridgwater and 3 draft picks and 18 million dollars guaranteed for the worst starting qb in the league.
  18. We didn't hire him to be the college version of Ron Rivera if he has to be told any of this it's time to move on.
  19. Well to be fair football seems to be secondary to our coaches and players rn because we damn sure aren't winning anything so the fans are only a reflection of that.
  20. Well yeah his first nfl draft was all defense. We somehow managed to circle back to the same thing but with way less experience. Even the nepotism with his coaching hires and stashing of Baylor and Temple players is Riveraesque.
  21. I have had this thought recently as well and it really drives home how low we have sunk. We thought it couldn't get worse. Firing Rivera was the easy part. Lessons must be learned and we need outside input on the next hire not our owner in the driver's seat fawning over the first smooth talker he meets.
