Most want it to happen because most fans do not want to see the franchise tumble even further. ie this going down as possibly the worst trade ever. For that reason alone it is in everyone's best interest for our starting QB to succeed. But the people who handwring over any criticism for the time being and ask for fans to stop talking about it aren't consistent. Even in this thread you see poo emojis flying. And it isn't from any of the alleged "haters".

Mina Kimes asks Saints' DE Cam Jordan about Bryce Young's rookie season
frankw replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Saying all the right things with the season opener a few weeks away. Although the remark about being used to having Alabama's offensive line cuts both ways. Many young quarterbacks could thrive under those conditions. Unfortunately the Green Bay method of patience and slow methodical development is rare in today's league and not a one size fits all. Mac Jones can attest to this. -
Interesting words from someone who supposedly seeks civility.

Respect to Steve B. With what we've had to witness behind center these last few years his 1999 season is hall of fame worthy by comparison and for that era is remarkable. It sucks to see him working with Dallas but he's probably better off considering our current ownership. Do you man.

Almost every fan I've interacted with simply wants the team to be competitive again no matter who the QB is. It looks like for the most part we've shed the ignorant fools of yesteryear. Icege is a good and knowledgeable poster and I am thankful for his practice update efforts. But he is unable to see he is basically repeating the same cycle as he did with Teddy Bridgewater. It's either you're fully a believer or you aren't really a fan. Sounds like the child like logic of someone whose name rhymes with dump. Seeing is believing though. If and when that happens no one will have a complaint. The one person who actually wanted the team to be bad was Ickmule and he's long gone. Anywho we should be trying to expand the fanbase these days it's slim pickings. Anyone that is here talking Panthers after everything that's happened the last 4 years is worthy of a spot.

The word hater in relation to Bryce Young at this stage is honestly laughable. Think back to ten years of Cam Newton doing everything he could to phsyically will this franchise into relevance and emerge from the shadow of joke status yet still coming back to his own fanbase some of whom quietly not so quietly despised him and gritted their teeth along the way while waiting for the day he was gone. Only to realize what actually awaited them when they finally got what they wanted. This is not that. Bryce Young will be fine one way or another. Rest assured.

How long will the Carolina Panthers rebuild take?
frankw replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
As long as Tepper is the owner and insists on having his fingerprints on the operation we could be in a perpetual state of rebuilding. I mean from 2020 on we didn't even know what the term rebuild even truly meant. It seemed to change on the fly. The powers that be would flip between talking of a rebuild and then turning around and making all in moves like they are playing in franchise mode on Madden.- 86 replies

Oh right. No one that isn't a former player or coach should ever talk football. And all those that have and have opinions never operate with any level of bias either. Great input csx much appreciated. If one wants analysis on Bryce Young they can find it. Some on one extreme or the other. Best bet is in the middle from people without attachment. Some of the best at this that offer such insight on social media are "fans" like you and me and break things down for casual viewers who might not know all the terminology. Furthermore I don't know if you've stopped to take a look around but sports talk in general is a pretty big draw in the media world now.

Posts like this remind me of the toxicity from the loudest pro Bryce posters before the draft. And getting hundreds of notifications of poo reactions from one particular poster who could not handle differing opinion on the matter. Now after one of the worst offensive seasons of all time the shoe is on the other foot and it's everyone else that's toxic. Very amusing. There are facts to acknowledge that got us to this point. Bryce actually got worse after Reich left. He also followed up his best game of the season with one of the worst blowout losses in franchise history against a team missing their starting QB. There can be multiple things true at once. The OL was bad. The coaching staff was bad. The receivers were not up to par. And Bryce Young himself was at times simply atrocious. If you get outside the echo chamber here and actually talk to other fans around the league you'll get a clearer picture of the situation.

Absolutely. Dalton is at the end of his career. Your most capable backup should have at least some of his best years ahead of him. We desperately need some new life in this QB room. But I don't get the vibe this will happen. Not saying it's not possible. I'm just reading the tea leaves in how this front office has handled Bryce Young and I just do not see them bringing in even a Zappe type for reasons I can only assume relate to Bryce's comfortability. For better or worse that's what it's about. Me I think it should be about fielding the best football team. But I'm a fan what do I know? I've just been watching this franchise make wrong decision after wrong decision the last several years

Different perspective for not starting the starters in preseason...
frankw replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think whichever way one may fall on this it's a shame the Panthers are even making it a conversation given what transpired last year. -
Different perspective for not starting the starters in preseason...
frankw replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Is it possible to overreact to a franchise that holds the current worst win % in all of professional sports? As a fan you assess the situation and right now it just looks like the staff is hiding the starting offense. This offensive group better come out swinging against the Saints. -
Seems to be the consistent theme with the deep passing game. It's wild that people still downplay it.

I don't blame anyone one iota for being apathetic or detached. For myself I generally never watch any of the NFL outside Panthers games and maybe vague interest in the playoffs and Super Bowl depending on who is playing. Right now I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised in week 1. In the back of my mind there's a feeling of deja vu though. So much of this seems all too familiar. Long time fans know what I mean. But I'm giving Dave Canales the benefit of the doubt for the time being. But if we get our asses kicked in New Orleans you already know what time it is boys.

HOF seems like his to lose at this point. But then again we don't know what father time holds and at 28 he's approaching that wall period for many other backs over the years. If given the option I'm likely picking CMC first on the all time Panthers RB list. But I also can't say what a few other greats like Stephen Davis and Jonathan Stewart in their prime might have been able to accomplish with that 49ers offense and staff. Yeah that's one of those things where opinions vary. But it's also one where we just unfortunately never got to see McCaffrey dominating the way he has in San Francisco with the Panthers and us actually winning anything of value to the franchise in the process. We just don't have those memories. We saw glimpses of his potential and often that was at the expense of the rest of the offense around him. One man show if you will. You could argue none of the coaches we had properly utilized him and were too overdependent on him. At the same time if you look at the snap count numbers the 49ers actually use him as much or even more than we did. Take the Super Bowl for example. People were arguing he needed the ball more. But he already had 30+ touches on the game. In the 80's or 90's the Niners win that Super Bowl. But it's the time of the versatile QB now. Without one you're out of luck. Game managers can only do so much.

Can't directly compare different positions. But you can look at their contributions and see what they meant to the roster. True MVP's. I think it's important to note what some of the best players here did with some truly mediocre at best teams around them and just decent enough coaching. Cam and Steve Smith especially. They are indisputable MVP's. I don't think the Panthers at any point have been as stacked across the board as the 49ers are. Especially on both lines. Add in the coaching and the lack of any real powerhouse competition in the NFC anymore and you're a perennial SB contender with a guaranteed playoff spot with homefield. Not having to fight for that alone is a huge boost. If the NFC and our division were this weak with Cam and Luke in their prime I have no doubt we would have at least one Lombardi Trophy in the Carolinas. If Steve Smith were in the picture too? It's not even a question.

Good for him. At least we can move on and stop hearing about this now.

REPORT: Panthers changed the offense 3 times last season
frankw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Very interesting. Three times eh? What was the reason for the lack of "philosophical alignment"? I've been told it was basically unanimous regarding Young being the pick. -
-
You're here so that counts for something. I don't blame you for disconnecting in the immediate aftermath of what they did to Cam. We've been living a nightmare ever since. But I'm someone who enjoys a good dumpster fire. I endured the Rhule years because what else was I going to do? Despite the amount of shitposting over the last several months I did previously and still do hope Bryce Young magically becomes a franchise QB under Canales. But I know my Panthers. We'll see.
-
Perhaps. PJ Walker was miles better than this and a lot of people said he was garbage. So idk what that makes Jack Plummer lol

The only conclusion I can make is the Panthers enjoy shitting on their own fanbase. I mean surely there were better UDFA options at quarterback. But again this seems to go back to the suspicion that they didn't want anyone that would remotely threaten Bryce Young.
