Seven winning seasons in a quarter century and zero consecutive. There is no culture here. That's cool that you think you are better but this isnt a perennial contender so until we can string together even two good seasons what you see is what you get.

Agreed the protection is atrocious. But with Cam like Sam even with time from the oline we struggle to push the ball downfield with consistent accuracy. Darnold's decision making is why he has been a bust to this point but Cam has not been the same passer on a consistent basis in years now. It hurts but that's the reality. We need to get our own next guy this year or next.
-
Cam fell off a cliff as a passer from the abuse as a battering ram carrying our run game on his shoulders though. But we agree the theme has been simple mismanagement through now two different regimes. In that regard it may not matter who we pick either way. But I will hope for the best.

ESPN suggests 2 QBs for 2022 for the Panthers...

I think you're being dramatic but that's your prerogative. Drafting olinemen in the high first has been just as much of a crapshoot for years. We are facing the reality of just throwing darts at the board hoping something sticks like the Browns. We aren't getting our way out of this mess in one or two drafts. If we see a QB we like either this year or next we have to take a look that's all I'm saying. I probably won't be around much for draft talk and this is why ya'll get waaaay too worked up about it. We're a bottom feeder afterthought of a franchise until we get a quarterback. That's the way the league is driven now.
-
We know the oline is awful. But we aren't doing ourselves any favors either like leaving BC at guard even though we drafted him as a tackle. Can't go wrong with OL or QB in this draft but it will have to be one or the other and I won't be mad at either.
-
I think we have to go QB. Even a round one rookie olineman is going to have minimal impact at this point. We will likely look to shed deadweight and bring in a couple vets for the line. As for which quarterback I'll just let the chips fall where they may and just say if the huddle hates a prospect you can usually expect the opposite.

Yeah Plumlee needs to go rot on the bench. I know we love some of these guys but at this point I would be willing to move someone for a real center I'm just tired of this enough is enough lol.

I don't know what the future holds for Newton. But this for Cam and crickets for Darnold tells me all I needed to know about any need for further games to "evaluate" Sam.
-
Jets fans said the same thing about just giving Sam a few more games to show something. We see how that worked out. You know what they say about the definition of insanity.

Rearranging deckchairs on the titanic.

What hurts is it didn't actually start out this way. When Rhule came in yes we needed a roster overhaul but we had cap space and draft capital. Now we are worse off than when we hit reset. We talk a lot about QB and for good reason but the honest truth is that CMC contract started us off on this collision course. We should have gotten whatever we could for him and went after our QB and got to work on the oline. See Justin Herbert and Slater. But nope. Panthers gonna Panther.

Pick six incoming.

Doug Pederson on how to build a "quarterback room"
frankw replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Is there any part in there about making a trade for one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league and bidding against yourself in the process? -
You mean Matt Rhule. Even the huddle knew.
-
There are three and a half seasons of film of Darnold being one of if not the worst starting quarterback in the league for every gm in the league to see. Three more starts will make absolutely no difference. He is a bust. We got conned.
-
If someone out there can watch this mess week in and week out and still ask for a third helping next season more power to you I guess. But it requires one to ignore what their own eyes have seen. And that's Matt Rhule at the controls navigating this roster. The gameday struggles are the cherry on top and have not improved at all. You can rabble rouse about Ron Rivera but we got outcoached by him
-
The receiver we drafted in the second round is also continually either a healthy scratch or just overall ignored.

Idk when you see the team continue to look exactly like they did at the play in game last season at different points this season it makes you doubt the coaching. At some point we can't keep excusing this and have to look to the root.

These takes about mobile QB's are all from the same playbook. They'll drag him for his completion percentage even though he's been a rookie learning on the fly but this same board made excuse after excuse for third year QB Darnold who has one of the league worst QBR and passer rating amongst starting quarterbacks. To have a young rookie with promise waiting would be a major boost for this franchise heading into next season but people who ridicule others for talking about it are just projecting. They know. They just can't admit it.

There are better ways to get some attention. But we're all Panthers fans. For me the thing is I have the added perspective of the history of our previous coaches to look back on. Looking at the top to bottom failures in roster building and gameday coaching inadequacies the odds of a miraculous turnaround are slim to none. The only path forward from here looks to be what we should have done all along. Bring in a head honcho who has actually coached in the NFL who will bring experienced NFL staff with him and not college yes men. It was always a gamble to give a Baylor/Temple HC with one season of low level NFL coaching experience one of the richest head coaching contracts in the league. Nothing personal against the man if it doesn't work it doesn't work life goes on.
