All this because Tepper wouldn't hire a consultant and instead fell in love with a head coach because they both sweat a lot.

For now the 2019 draft is worse. If Brian Burns was that good I could maybe live with it. But he would have to be making an Aaron Donald or Von Miller level of impact on the dline. That's how important Cam was to his team in his prime that we forgot about 6 other draft picks by the following season.
-
He should have been our offseason target over Sam Darnold but it's too late for another reclamation project now. Just draft one and if it doesn't work out swing again next year.

Panthers have reached out to Minnesota for Kirk Cousins
frankw replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ron and his staff did the same thing with McCaffrey in 2019 and people thought it was a good thing. The gut punch as fans is the fact we haven't won a damn thing meaningful since we tried to make him the focal point of our offense. His rookie year we went to the playoffs because Cam was still running the ball like the old days. He carried us to a playoff berth. 2020 was such a missed opportunity. Instead of paying CMC like a quarterback we should have had him on the trade block. The only goal should have been acquiring the next young QB to takeover for Cam. But nope we needed a face to sell tickets. That buyers remorse set in quick huh? -

If the absence of one running back can sink your whole season you weren't a very competitive team to begin with. Panthers fans won't want to hear that but that's where we're at and why we shouldn't have signed that contract with no viable starting QB in place. -
Cousins/JimmyG makes a lot of sense for Rhule (not the Panthers)
frankw replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Those same folks were all on Fitterer's dick last year now they say he has no power and Matt Rhule did everything without him. Stockholm syndrome in effect. -

As if he had nothing at all to do with last years QB/OL debacle -

Mannnnnnn this is what I've been trying to get through to all these people rage posting about Pickett or whichever QB in this draft. We are not tanking. We've drafted two first round QB's in a quarter century. Sometimes you just have to accept circumstances and roll the dice. -
The All Star Game thread--first of many for Melo
frankw replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Charlotte Hornets
Congrats to Melo. He's only 20 years old. Get a team of ballers around this kid please ffs no more lousy basketball and airballs! -
This is why it becomes so insufferable to talk QB's with college football fans bc they will always revert to biases and touting a guy from Coastal Carolina fits the bill. I don't give a poo about any of that just bring us a quarterback who can make us both competitive and respectable again.
-
There isn't much else to talk about and despite early hype next years QB class could have it's share of duds too. And you can't make plans with a pick we don't have. There's no guarantee we will be picking in the top 10 again.

Dan Morgan interviewed for Steelers GM job
frankw replied to BurnNChinn's topic in Carolina Panthers
So many sensitive homers here lol. The same folks who will give Fitterer a pass for Darnold and the FA olinemen we brought in bc he was hired to be Rhule's glorified errand boy. We could have hired someone like Morgan for the role from the jump and not given Matt "one year of NFL experience" Rhule full control. -

Yeah but you would have to bury your head in the sand to not think the dysfunction here is a factor. Especially with multiple assistants making lateral moves. -

Much was said about how Fitterer was close with Morgan and that's why he signed on here. Apparently he knows a sinking ship when he sees one. -

Miami was 0-3 in OT this season but ofc we were their get right game.
-
This team is just brutal in OT.

Slim Hornets lead late in the fourth? Time for some terrible shot attempts and may as well commit some fouls too

The league showed the blueprint on how to stop our offense. Headhunt Cam Newton and we won't stop you. The Bengals are in a different situation entirely in that regard. Nine times out of ten Burrow gets the call if the pass rush tries some sketchy bullshit. The pendulum has now swung back into the favor of quarterbacks and offense in general. It certainly helps to look like Joe if you want to build your persona around swagger and what some would consider arrogance. But I won't wade into all that. If the Bengals go the route the Panthers did in free agency and the draft and remove pieces from their Super Bowl team and make additions in the wrong places they could end up like the Panthers. Mismanagement in the 2016 offseason guaranteed the window with the Panthers core was slammed shut. For the Bengals sake I hope their decision makers don't go down that road. Go all in on the offensive line and stack playmakers and see where it takes you.

Oh of course we have no certainty on the notion but if it's between us and the Bucs the Saints possibly NYG or another big market our looming lame duck coaching situation and oline will not do us any favors.

Good for Frankie. So out of Sam Darnold Robby Anderson Pat Elflein and Frankie Luvu we've got 1 hit and we're waiting to see if Robby will return to form this year. I'm thankful for Luvu he's earned it but we can please move away from searching for talent on the worst teams in the league?
-
Watson didn't want to come here last go around you think he will want to when we trade away our top young WR? The whole debacle in Houston began with moving Hopkins for basically peanuts.
-
It would have to be a first to even get a conversation initiated. Do you recall the Panthers history with 2nd round picks? TMJ has to make his way onto the field and so far he has yet to do anything to break the cycle of our not so good history with that particular round of the draft.
