Panthers taking offers for Cmac in the off-season
frankw replied to Leotiger's topic in Carolina Panthers
You just have to look around the NFL and you'll see the same with other teams. Many of the league's best backs have been banged up. Derrick Henry Dalvin Cook Alvin Kamara Nick Chubb the list goes on and on. You just don't pay an RB that kind of money you build your line and draft another or sign one on the cheaper end. -

We had no starting quarterback when we signed him to the biggest running back contract in history and people still won't accept. They are indeed living in a fantasy world. -

We all wanted it to work out but reality is slapping us right in the face with no regard for our feelings my friend. It is what it is regardless of how many folks still wear Christian McCaffrey undies. We had to face it for Cam twice now thanks to this staff so now is no different just because it's CMC. -

Seemed fairly obvious for awhile now but it's actually official this time. I still have doubts this actually happens unless we just absorb a huge cap loss. -

Slimy is the best word for it. From here it looks like Dave Gettleman got his final revenge on us. We got played. -
Trade out of 6 or trade away a player instead?

We would be so much better off if we had just let him walk. There were so many fanboys rejoicing and shouting down any skepticism after that signing now look at this place. We always have to learn the hard way I swear. -
Mel Kiper is an analyst who does this for a living. Do you hold his opinion in high regard? Scouts I'll give you a little more on that but there is a reason front offices across the league are purged fairly consistently. Yes they know more than fans but they get it wrong plenty too.

Thank goodness more former Panthers are sounding off about this mess.

Tepper definitely had his hand in the cookie jar at times like with the Rhule hiring process but Darnold was Matt and so was Teddy. Tepper wanted Fields and he would be here rn if he had actually been in on that decision. Waiting another year sounds okay until you get to the part where we have absolutely no idea where we will land in the draft order or other teams and their needs. Nothing is guaranteed and we cannot plan for something like that this far out. That's all most folks have been saying
-
I would accept oline this year as I said previously but I doubt we are going to wait on the QB after the mess we have made the last two seasons. I mean imagine trying to sell another year of Sam Darnold and the hope of (maybe) getting a quarterback next year to this fanbase. We can make that sound not as bad in January but it's going to be a ghost town in September.
-
Hey now. We got Darnold bc our mgmt bid against themselves for a QB no one else wanted and virtually every fan saw as a disaster from a mile away. You won't allow your own ego to discuss this rationally. That's your problem bub.

Scouts and analysts are proven wrong one way or another every single year without fail. The rub for us is very simple. No team is going to release or trade a quarterback that can help this franchise get back to relevancy and playoff contention. We are going to at minimum end up throwing one or two darts at the board for quarterback within the next few years. We sealed our fate with the Teddy and Sam attempts. It doesn't matter if we don't like or agree with it. It's happening.
-
Tell that to the NFC East. The used car salesman persona isn't just limited to our head coach apparently.
-
None of us can know this. If you can see into the future let's all go hit the lotto forget the Panthers.
-
Yeah in hindsight it's easy to see how this has all fallen apart when you look back at the red flags the Panthers ignored when they switched from an interview to sales pitch before they even got settled upon arriving. David Tepper treated the most consequential decision the franchise has faced in years like a popularity contest instead of ensuring the right man was hired for the job. And before anyone chimes in about the former radio host making decisions..just no. If he had actually been in charge of anything we may have Justin Herbert rn ironically enough. Tepper got his man he fell head over heels for at first sight and now we are all living with the consequences.

Regardless of how anyone may feel one way or another about any of this or him on a personal level. It's obvious he needs help and not yes men around him. Doesn't sound like TB did him any favors in that area. But he's also grown and must seek out help and use better judgment. He should definitely get away from social media first and foremost. Good luck to him.

You know things are bleak when the only people still sticking up for Matt Rhule are trolls like SizzleBuzz.

Kelly is trying to break the NBA record for threes in a quarter tonight. Thank goodness for the Pistons. 24 threes for the team. What a get right game at the perfect time. They need to find some of this magic on the road.

The Big Ben farewell is a pipe dream. This isn't the Steelers roster. You can't in one breath say you don't want to subject a rookie to this oline and in another advocate for soon to be 33 year old Cam Newton to endure it for the sake of some kind of farewell tour. Even if he was anywhere near the same as a passer that story isn't going to end the way you want and it isn't fair to him or his legacy. I'm getting a sense you are moreso against a rookie QB soon bc you are still attached to Cam. I get that I've been there. I let go many months ago though. Bringing him back returned some nostalgia and was very emotional but we haven't seen dominant Cam since the first half of 2018.
-
If you are steadfast against drafting a quarterback then why on earth is keeping Newton around a good idea? Cam doesn't have the arm to be a season long starter anymore and he has endured enough abuse by this franchise. There's no reason to pay him on top of the 19 million we are stuck paying Sam. I concur entirely about not wanting to see another season of Darnold but if we aren't drafting a quarterback then just let Sam do what he does as difficult as that will be to watch.

After what Rhule has done with Brady Christensen who can say if TMJ is a bust or just being wasted. He will only be 22 years old when training camp rolls around again so it would be foolish to give up on him.
