  1. I would definitely like him to bring in more contested catches especially on third down and certainly in the end zone. This is true and is a reasonable expectation no doubt. These do involve other variables though and when your offense is one of the bottom in the league struggles in that regard are amplified. Let's hope we get the opportunity to see DJ with a good QB and a better offensive system. People can have their opinions on him but it would make me sick to see him thriving in another offense with coaches and a QB who can properly utilize him while we go back to the drawing board.
  2. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/car/career-receiving.htm Revisiting this take. What is your standard for a #1? DJ Moore is already 4th in yards behind only Olsen Moose and 89. Looking at the Panthers receiving history there are two TE's in the top 10 yardage totals and Christian McCaffrey is 6th and Kelvin Benjamin is even in the top 10. The rest of the list outside one or two notable names is just a bunch of guys.
  3. Agreed but it depends heavily on what we do with the rest of the oline. If we keep lining up subpar linemen next to him people need to adjust their expectations but you know we all want a dominant rookie from day one but it isn't very likely.
  4. It's nice to have a pass rusher but that doesn't do you much good without any semblance of a real threat from your offense. The Rams have the best pass rusher in years and they didn't finally win the big one until they went all in on their offense. QB and WR run the NFL. Panthers fans are still clinging to their defense first mantra but only seven winning seasons to show for it.
  5. I could live with it. But some people are under illusions that because we might finally draft a tackle in the top 10 there are no risks or he won't struggle as a rookie. Sadly there is no instant fix with the 6th overall pick.
  6. This franchise has had the last three drafts to secure either a tackle or a quarterback and we have gone defense every time. I'm leaning more and more toward just rolling the dice on Willis.
  7. Anyone holding out hope for us to get more than a third or a fourth for CMC has been living a fantasy. That door slammed shut about two years ago. His value was never any higher heading into 2020 and instead of reading the tea leaves we signed him to that huge contract with no QB in place and now we are a laughingstock.
  8. Leadership overall last year was big time lacking we can both agree on that which was the larger point I was trying to get across. If you expect more fire and leadership that's good but DJ isn't playing by himself out there. Guys have to come together as a group and typically it's the quarterback who will lead that charge. We did not have that last season. All of that is why you do not pay a running back one of the largest contracts in the league to be the face of your franchise without a QB1 identified. There's a reason a now older QB like Cam Newton who is not the same passer he used to be brought so much short lived energy back to this team that Sam Darnold could not bring in his wildest dreams. When you say we must not invest our resources in DJ but other areas can you be specific as to which position groups you are referring to? Without a top wideout or a franchise quarterback what on earth are you building? Why even have a team at all?
  9. That and actually give the 2nd round pick you took last year a gameday jersey and see what he can do. Shi Smith is there as well. But expecting the decision makers here to develop these young receivers seems like a tall order after they just gave Robby that extension last year and now already regret it. Evaluation is suspect.
  10. In one thread he has been compared to Leonard Fournette and now Kirk Cousins. Ray Charles could see the bias here. Some of you are confusing your opinion that he is a #2 with fact. And let's get down to it here since apparently the effort and passion of Moore is the only one being questioned for some odd reason. Who in your esteemed opinion was a "dog out there" on this team last year that was dragged through the turf by powerhouse teams like the Giants and Dolphins that subsequently fired their head coaches by seasons end? And this slop about defensive coordinators not being scared is hilarious. You know what those coordinators aren't scared of? Our QB room. That's kinda important in this game.
  11. Steve knows it when he sees it unlike so many of the college football fans here who can't get out of their own way bc of preconceived notions. If Willis is the pick I will hope this staff can develop him but I don't have much faith.
  12. I have no affiliation or interest in LSU. I don’t think you know what a #1 looks like either if you're still crowing about how Ridley is "definitely better" and even arguing for Chark over Moore. Just say you're obviously biased and still holding draft night fanboy dreams about us not drafting Ridley against him and move on.
  13. Lmao only a Panthers fan could say something like this and not see the irony. He's a Super Bowl champion while our RB is the IR champion. People used to talk poo about LF but he produced when his team needed him. Using him as an example to dog on DJ is hilarious. You guys are just ungrateful. We can surely go back to the days of a WR corps full of 3rd and 4th string wide receivers praying one turns into a starter though and you'll be the first one to start complaining
  14. For anyone not interested in half a dozen clicks just to see another list: 1. Willis 2. Pickett 3. Corral 4. Howell 5. Ridder
  15. Still kicking that can down the road. It's like Hurney never left.
  16. If DJ Moore is traded to a team with a legit quarterback he will put up elite numbers and these same goobers doubting him will be singing the blues and acting like they never said it.
  17. In a perfect world where the team isn't run by a couple of baboons we keep both. But Burns will command a record payday if he maintains his trajectory and we are still in need of an oline and a quarterback who will now have less weapons to work with. What a mess.
  18. If a young playmaker like Moore is on the block then no one should be off limits.
  19. Steve Smith is advocating for drafting him this discussion is going to be very entertaining in the upcoming weeks.
  20. Didn't you used to get hammered and shitpost here on the regular? None of us are perfect it's been a rough couple of years for everyone and the team being the worst in the division is going to result in messy dialogue. That's life.
  21. Love Cam but drafting whichever QB should have no impact on whether or not we sign him back. I don't think it's even fair to expect him to endure yet another potentially crummy season and one where we are still rebuilding the oline. We've put that man through enough. As far as Willis I must say I do recognize the vibe in some of these hot takes about his ability. Wherever he goes I will be curious to revisit this in the future.
  22. Nice. We owed the Cavs some revenge they earned this whooping tonight.
  23. Tepper from the jump said this was going to be a years long rebuild now Fitterer is saying winning can't happen fast enough after forfeiting half our draft for the worst QB in the league. He mentioned making good decisions. Well we've consistently done the exact opposite. They might actually get less flack if they would just own up to the fact they took a giant L in their overall approach last season. Instead he just blovates about how you don't actually need an elite quarterback even though the playoffs showed us otherwise. And passing the buck on the Ian Thomas contract to a recently hired assistant is some poo that would make even Hurney cringe.
  24. It happens. He's a good player but this team has so many needs and some of the pieces we already have in place aren't guaranteed anything either. There are glaring distractions with this team though. To see players on social media going after anyone with a hint of criticism isn't a good sign for a franchise in the cellar of the division and one of the worst teams in the conference.
