Well that's hogwash. Who says it's a bad thing. You? I relish the idea of us drafting a QB in the first that could finally lift this franchise out of this terrible funk where people sit around polishing turds that are failed QB's like Sam Darnold. Or wanting us to throw 30+ million a year at someone like Derek Carr. There are people here who do not want us to draft certain QB's because they still want the game to be played a certain way. I want QB in the first and I'll support whoever it is. But again I know if it's Stroud or Richardson the same folks who groaned about Newton and now Fields will continue the same trend. Me? I just want to win. And I want a QB who is going to bring some attitude to this team not this aw shucks just happy to be here nonsense.

I cannot wait until we draft Stroud or Richardson and the Fields haters sit around gritting their teeth the next several months.

It's really weird you are high on Stroud but also have a boner for someone like Carr. He's 32. He doesn't even have the youth factor going for him like the other reclamation projects (Mayfield and Darnold) we convinced ourselves might somehow work out in our favor. The one plus though is if we sign him to a huge deal and he stinks folks like you will pretend you never wanted him. That might be worth it to laugh at

Virtually no one here has actual inside sources at least not anyone that posts frequently. That doesn't stop hundreds of posts from being made here daily. Going with your logic no one should talk about anything here anymore. But it is not a stretch to suggest Carr would not be appreciative of his new team drafting a QB in the top 10 shortly after signing him to a commitment.

Maybe not to you but reports from his now former team indicate he wants a full commitment. If there's any chance at all he would take offense to us still taking a QB at 9 he can fug off and fleece some other team.

Well we can't be afraid of developing a young QB. Matt Rhule was. But we've got decades of wisdom on staff now. Chasing discarded veteran QB's should be the last resort for such a seasoned staff we've built.

I wish Fields the best but with us very likely eyeing our own QB in the draft it's time to start thinking about moving on from this discussion altogether. Let's just hope Jaycee can stay healthy enough to see through the promising career we expect given where we selected him.

Well what other choice is there anyway? They are making moves that give us reason to be optimistic. I will try to remain in that frame of mind until they give me a reason not to. Bringing in another retread QB would give me flashbacks of nothing very positive.

When the time comes you either take the risk or you play it safe. We've seen the results with bringing in other teams leftovers. Try a different approach.

Yeah we're on different pages here. You thought I meant Super Bowl window I was referring to the time left in Carr's career to win or compete for a championship. If he isnt competing for one in the next couple of seasons it isn't going to happen doesn't matter if it's us or someone else. I'm not in favor of throwing a contract at him so you don't have to convince me. But based on you posting that CBS tweet you seem to be a believer. That's cool.

You think he's going to play into his forties? For clarification purposes I had the misfortune along with the rest of you of watching a QB built like a greek god physically fall apart by 32. Different circumstances obviously but you can't make assumptions time is undefeated.

When we get the right QB in here I firmly believe DJ is going to be the stud we have hoped for and silence the doubters. But he is not without his faults. He's going to have to be more consistent with his effort and be willing to take things to the next level. He's a laid back easy going guy but sometimes he's a little too chill. I think we could see him break from his shell more with a more vocal and confident starting quarterback.

If someone wants to venture over to a Raiders forum I'd be curious to hear what the average take is on Carr and his time there now that he is officially gone. He has never lacked the talent. But he just had the lowest completion percentage since his rookie year. How much of it was McDaniels? The other layer is he will be 32 in March. So that's what a 5-6 year window maybe? Not every guy is going to be Brady and play well into their 40's. We should just be as realistic as possible about this knowing not only his circumstances but our own in our failures of pursuing other teams castoffs.
