Imagine if we invested in offense what we did in defense
frankw replied to Snake's topic in Carolina Panthers
Been saying this since the Rivera days. Then the first thing we did after he left and Rhule took over was dedicate an entire draft to defense -

Rhule set to appear on WFNZ Thursday morning
frankw replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's been noticeable. Not exactly a wise business model. It certainly hasn't had an impact on the team performing much better if anyone has actually been bothered by it though if the continued blowout losses were any indication. Even teams like the Jaguars and Lions were still fighting at the end of their season. -

Right it's almost like smart teams value the trenches over stockpiling corners. -
This can be a playoff team next year if we bring Cam back......

Well then it's odd you're connected at the hip with old timers venting about athletes (gasp) having fun in a football game. I wish this atrocious team had anything worth celebrating again. But some folks are okay with their team being a doormat if they don't have to see an athlete that makes them feel uncomfortable anymore. -

Why do you care so much about Cam Newton? If I spent any amount of time on a Falcons board complaining about Matt Ryan I would seek therapy. -

Yeah one time the majority of the hits to the head were within the pocket he was headhunted in the Super Bowl and the 2016 season opener and that was truly the beginning of the end because teams knew the refs would let it slide. There are less than a handful of "Cam heads" here the majority like myself are very much aware of where he now stands as a starting quarterback. I had already long accepted what was and anticipated retirement for him. We wouldn't even be talking about this again if Matt Rhule hadn't fell flat on his face in attempting to locate his own starting quarterback. Your little shtick may get pie from Falcons fans but most people think you are a dinosaur still parroting the same tired old man takes about showboating. -

If you're going to troll at least get your facts right. Any hits to the head were within the pocket because our oline was a mess more often than not and now not only is it not any better it's somehow worse with different decision makers. -

For him to make those remarks about Slater after we fielded some of the worst OL lineups in history is simply unforgivable. -
Some people just wanted something to feel slightly positive about and others were just blind. I figured with his arm he had to be a marginal improvement over Teddy Checkdown but then we got a look at the Sam Darnold turnover machine Jets fans had become very familiar with. All along my preference was the draft to address the position. If there is any silver lining with this it's the fact that fans are no longer buying into this snake oil salesman routine by Matt Rhule and Scott Fitterer. They got the red carpet treatment early on which I cautioned against now the knives are out in every direction.

Jim Irsay Speaks about their team's disappointing season
frankw replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Even a coked out meathead like Irsay will at least put out an apology for embarrassing losses. -
If you're hinting at something just speak on it lol

Great team win. At least the Hornets are capable of giving fans something to be happy about these days

The Cam Newton win/loss the last however many starts is just fodder for the same knuckledraggers as before. The crazy thing is we could have just kept him in place the last two seasons and had similar results while making the roster better and ready for the next guy and kept draft picks. But we didn't do that we put all our chips in on another teams already chewed up and spit back out draft failure. Just brutal. -
When the team had a public fallout with Newton in 2020 you couldn't keep Tepper from talking. Now it's crickets.

Thoughts on Fitterer's press conference
frankw replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
You attempt to use Alex Smith as your sole outlier and then just rattle off four hall of fame quarterbacks. Come on man you don't think you're being a tad delusional here? Darnold has been the same turnover prone jittery QB since he was at USC. Cam Newton was up and down as a passer in his prime but looking at the full picture anyone with eyes knew he was a playmaker. The same cannot be said for Sam Darnold. You can put blinders on to facts if it makes you feel better but sooner or later you have to face the truth. -

Do ya'll realize Jets fans are clowning on us when you say stuff like this? They had some dude come in off the practice squad who played better than anything Darnold did in NY in three seasons. Stop this madness please. -
The problem is that short term plan that went up in flames was paired with giving up three draft picks and nearly 19 million guaranteed to a gamble at quarterback that has looked the same or worse as he did with the Jets. If we still had those picks and cap space you would see less objection.

I quoted you by mistake so that's my flub. I just can't get on-board with singing anyone's praises after they've already made a giant mess and many of us saw the risks. I hope they truly learned and address this properly but they haven't earned the benefit of the doubt yet and they must drop this versatility mantra.

Yeah no poo it's almost like we should have done more early on before we reached desperation mode when it was clearly too late.
