The lose/lose talk for this is noise to me. Looking good against backups is what I expect. I'll be satisfied with it. It's all about momentum and continuity heading into the season. Competition is competition.

College Football starts today (college talk)

It was not a good look following one of the worst statistical seasons for any rookie QB ever. There is no way around it. Idk why anyone would be trying to downplay it. If Cam said that poo he would have been tarred and feathered immediately. But Bryce Young can change the whole nnarrative. Hopefully he does. This franchise needs it. We'll see.

Jaycee Horn’s future with the Panthers
frankw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It sucks but the return we got was about as good as it was going to get at that time. If we wanted a huge haul the time to trade him would have been after we cut Cam and had no quarterback and had to rebuild the offensive line. That was the issue with the contract extension back in 2020. Yes you can look back and say you'd probably still sign him to that deal. But with the benefit of hindsight your immediate goal would be to pair him with a young dynamic QB in the draft ASAP. Unfortunately the cap implications from the contract itself left you with little wiggle room and the powers that be settled for discarded scraps off other teams rosters like Bridgewater and Darnold. But even if you get a do over and acquire that dynamic rookie QB the OL was still a nightmare at best. And you had an owner who thinks himself a football savant because he's a billionaire. Just a quagmire of circumstances from which it was nearly impossible to emerge unscathed. I harbor no ill will toward McCaffrey. Although I must admit he clearly got fed up and started milking injuries to a degree. Do I necessarily blame him? No. But we did pay him a great deal of money. Anywho I will never root for the Niners though. I will root for them to suck. There is no love lost for that franchise. I despised them through our rivalry during the Harbaugh years and their fans are toxic waste. I never want to see those bandwagoning f*ckers experience winning a Super Bowl. Call me petty if you want -
Jaycee Horn’s future with the Panthers

Some people only look at this through Panthers colors lenses. Break down the career touches. First look at Stanford. He averaged roughly 39 touches a game in college. https://www.stack.com/a/how-christian-mccaffrey-built-his-body-to-withstand-one-of-the-biggest-workloads-in-college-football/ In the NFL he is 5th in career touches with 1,806. 668 of those touches are from the last two seasons in San Francisco alone. https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/active-nfl-running-back-most-career-touches At 28 years old with a fresh new large contract and on a team eyeing at least one or two more championship runs with their core mostly intact his touches are not going down. If anything they could very well go up. He's putting the history of the position to the test that's for sure. -
I had forgotten that was also the 2015 season. Apparently some of the animosity he felt was what he perceived to be the team not showing support for him through his Mother's death. Coincidentally Kelvin Benjamin said the same thing. Now at first glance someone can just say sour grapes from both but this was when Gettleman was here with his enormous ego and pettiness. Honestly I think that guy is a complete douchebag looking back. Results wise some good some bad some horrific but how he treated people is inexcusable. He deserved to get shitcanned from us and the Giants. But our franchise as a whole shouldn't be blamed for his foolishness. The past is the past.

Different running styles. Can make the case for either depending on what type of offense you're looking to run and the state of your oline. If your oline is legit let Deangelo eat. If not let Stewart bounce between tackles and his stiff arm is ridiculous. As far as people not liking DWilliams I don't let it effect my memories of his best plays. But he hasn't done himself favors over the years with Panthers fans. You can appreciate what he did for us and acknowledge that.

Jaycee Horn’s future with the Panthers
frankw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If things go well this season and he is active for the bulk of the games you move for the 5th year option and then work on an extension. But he has to play. It's a similar situation as the Hornets have dealt with. You pay a guy top dollar he has to be available. I hope to see Jaycee balling out this season and here doing so for the next several years. We will know soon enough. -
If some of you had your way this place would be nothing more than a circle of a few posters just repeating "Panthers r good mhmm". Discourse both positive and negative will exist and continue to exist for every single damn fanbase until football for whatever reason eventually stops being a thing. Please find something else to complain about.

Of course not all of this is his fault. We can debate the fairness of criticism relating to athletes. And to be clear I am very pro player as far as how the league is setup and the share of profits. I legitimately loathe NFL owners. Cannot make that more clear. But it's always been this way for first overall picks. Cam Newton was dragged through the mud up and down for ten years. And he was a ROTY out of the gate. People still dogged on him and demanded more. Bryce will be fine.

Comparing being critical of a 4th round running back with being critical of a first overall pick we traded a literal haul for.... lol

I get the need given all the extenuating circumstances. Snagging a young CB from the Seahawks sounds like a solid move. I assume Evero had significant input as well with Morgan. Now let's do Center please...

Well it isn't the way I would have done it but I'll take it. I'll be interested to see how the Bills defensive staff treats this one. I will be very surprised if they just roll over and let Bryce Young and the offense have a few good drives against them. That was my issue with waiting until this game. On the one hand it's good that the starting group will be getting some continuity heading into the season. On the other hand it's in the one preseason game where the opponent has a very talented roster overall is playoff built and has skin in the game in not wanting us to look good against them based on the familiarity between the two franchises. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully by next week we all will be feeling more optimistic about this team.

Mina Kimes asks Saints' DE Cam Jordan about Bryce Young's rookie season
frankw replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think Favre did much if anything to help develop Rodgers. The Packers coaching staff is largely response for Jordan Love's development. That is what is most beneficial to any young QB. When Love was a rookie Rodgers was still playing at a high level. That pushed Love to expand his own game and work on himself. We don't have that here. Andy Dalton serves no purpose. We actually probably have the worst QB depth in the league by design apparently.
