Draft day scenario - Could trading Burns be an option?
frankw replied to SmokinwithWilly's topic in Carolina Panthers
What's the worry about his age of all things? He'll be the same age as Burrow was in his rookie season. For further perspective Darnold was 21 as a rookie and his age was used as an argument for why he could be good here now. Certainly didn't make a difference as we have seen. -

When I think about this I can't help but be reminded of how often he sought out a microphone when the team had that very public falling out with Cam in early 2020. It was that mess that led us to Bridgewater and then to Darnold because the decision makers had to have an instant solution to validate the original mess. Bringing back Cam only brought it all full circle. My goodness you have to laugh to keep from crying. -
Definitely a little bit of both but if we want to keep young talent like LaMelo the Hornets can't keep settling for mediocrity. I've been critical of Borrego but the team had shots that should have went in. If Miles makes both free throws we win the game. We didn't want to make a splash move at the trade deadline but they need to figure something out by next season or I wouldn't blame LaMelo for looking at other options in the future

Awful undisciplined basketball. This is not a playoff contender sorry boys.
-
Taking the same stupid shot attempts in OT as they did in the fourth and it's gonna result in a big fat L. The hero ball always bites us in the ass.

We're getting some serious breaks here in the midst of some sloppy ass basketball. Better win this.

Was Rhule forced by Tepper to hire experienced coaches?

Source? I have suspected this but had hoped it wasn't the case. But seeing how involved he was in the draft room last year was a big hint. -
Riot: Panthers to take a major swing at QB?
frankw replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would rather take a swing at any of the QB's in this draft than give up assets for Garoppolo. -
Looks like an NBA team beating up on a G league team out there. Different energy altogether.

If Cooks catches that pass in the end zone against the Patriots the Rams probably win a Super Bowl with Goff. Stafford was impressive in the playoffs but people will always remember the refs all the sudden deciding to throw multiple flags in the red zone on the game winning drive in the Super Bowl in their stadium. Doesn't matter what they called for the Bengals or against the Rams in previous quarters. Apple did not play well but there isn't much any defender would have been able to do if the zebras were making it clear you can't even get near Kupp. It was over right then and there.

While possible I just don't see it. Not after how badly our last two attempts have gone. The benefits of a young quarterback with potential on an affordable rookie deal are being utilized more and more by teams who are having varying levels of success. If this regime is truly into the analytics they have rambled on about then I firmly believe we will see a rookie quarterback this year or next. People can say we could make a run at Watson or one of the other top tier quarterbacks but if it boils down to it I can say with near certainty they will choose a bigger market and better situation overall. If Rhule and Fitterer have any clue at all they will know by now what has to be done. Of course that’s the rub and why so many are now pessimistic. We'll see.

Darnold is entering his fifth year and statistically the worst QB in the NFL the last two seasons. For him to make a miraculous turnaround great enough for us to seek an extension would be like hitting the Powerball twice. That isn't optimism it is delusion.

Burns is a very good young pass rusher but we are waiting to see if he will get to the next level ie consistently dominant. CMC can't stay on the field. Nothing else in this conversation matters until that happens. DJ Moore is a stud but also like any player has some things he can fine tune. Chinn is a stud who this staff for some reason saw fit to switch positions. Horn is promising but three games is not enough of a story to tell yet. All in all you would see more positivity if the braintrust of this franchise had begun investing in this offensive line from jump street. But instead we just picked up where Rivera and previous staffs left off when we overinvested in defense while the oline declined even more which was an issue for years with the best quarterback this franchise has seen. THAT is the biggest contributor right now to the fan fatigue you are seeing. Bumbling our way from one bad QB to another is the cherry on top. Invest in the offense go big or go home. Until then fans don't want to hear it. Plain and simple. -

*worst team in the NFL* "I'm just happy to be here ya'll." - Sir Purr -
Tried to tell folks but they were all giddy to sign an RB to be the face of the franchise because 1k/1k in a 5 win season. Didn't work with either of the Double Trouble duo and now here we are again with regret. Well you fuggers got what you wanted. Maybe he can play QB
-
Right. The expectations are getting a little lofty too. Folks saw the rookie season Slater had and seek the same but unless we solve center any rookie tackle is likely going to take his lumps amongst this current group and you know the B word will get thrown out quick. It sure would have been nice to have a second or third round pick this year

Offseason finally here. Let's get down to business.
frankw replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Most people would have accepted just another bad year. But we gave up 3 draft picks and guaranteed the QB with the worst QBR the last two seasons 19 million dollars. Let me know when coach Bill does some stupid poo like that. -
How far would the Stafford led Panthers have gone?
frankw replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Supposedly Fitterer is one if narratives here are to be believed. I guess all we have left is the hope they have learned from the Darnold debacle. Still cannot fathom how anyone thought it was a slam dunk to trade for Sam while believing his game film was not a significant determining factor. Of course this whole line of thinking is obliterated when you consider our decision makers made a new PJ Walker contract our first priority of the new season. -
He is an intriguing prospect but like the other quarterbacks not without those looming question marks. As we get closer I think we have to roll the dice on one of these guys. It’s that or an OT and for the record we are so LT hungry here people have basically bought into a narrative that we won't miss if we take one. And if you don't want a QB in the upcoming draft then don't enter threads about the subject these posts are beyond tiresome.

How many other Super Bowls have you seen where the winning team on their final drive gets that many favorable flags in the span of less than 2 minutes? We got some blind mice here. -

After all the talk over the years about Hurney putting us in cap hell there is no way you can just gloss over the fact Fitterer has played his part in our now bleak salary cap outlook. We got all cute in the last draft wheeling and dealing to loud cheers from fans at the time but our OL in action was a mess and we are unsure where the tackle we drafted will be lining up and our 2nd round pick couldn’t find his way into playing time even when the season was lost. We don't even need to get into the longsnapper mess. The shine is definitely off the 2021 draft. None of this is even mentioning our free agent acquisitions or the Darnold option we picked up immediately. If our GM is indeed little more than a best friend and second in command to Rhule that is not anything to compliment him for no matter how much success he may have had in years prior. -

He's an above average QB with good arm talent. But the refs took that man by the hand and walked him to the goal line to take the lead in the Super Bowl with time expiring. No way in hell they give those kind of calls to just any quarterback in those circumstances. -
Against the best Dline in the league uh yeah. But the Bengals mishandled the final drive and the refs basically guided the Rams in for the final score. It was more than just the oline but go off.
-
That was a dumb playcall they should have taken their time to get the play right. That's an outcoached moment sadly for Cinci. Meh I'm out don't need to see these fugs with that trophy.

If you're good seeing Miller hoist up another Lombardi trophy you might as well go ahead and jump ship pal.
